  1. Kirby would know better than me, but my guess is that it would mean a slight increase, but more likely an increase in the number of boxes. My guess (and that's all it is) is that it'll be something like Pegula funding 40-50%, the NFL's G5 program contributing 10-20%, Jacobs contributes 10% and gets the concessions, and then public money does the rest.
  2. #missedthejokebadly
  3. I hear you...I wonder if they're hoping that a nice shiny new set of luxury boxes would lure more suitors from the GTA? For as much heat as Russ Brandon takes on this board, his ability to generate revenue has been solid, so I have to assume that he has (or is developing) a plan for when a new stadium becomes a reality.
  4. No...it's because I've been all over this guy for a year: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/186337-2017-nfl-mock-drafts-top-prospects/page-10?do=findComment&comment=3987818
  5. More luxury boxes is generally what the owners are after, because that's non-shared revenue IIRC. As to seat licenses, I think that if they were smart about how they incorporated them--say a few thousand dollars for the premium seats being the top of the scale--that it wouldn't be prohibitive.
  6. That's correct--they tried to trade up in the draft for him
  7. Payton: "Hey Pagano, you think McCarthy, Jackson, Arians, and Bowles know that the camera just caught them checking out that girl's backside?"
  8. Back in '99, the Sabres held a decided advantage in fan presence in the arena when it came playoff-time. Not sure that would remain the case again though.
  9. No, I didn't miss the point; you never raised the question of the morality or propriety of it. Do I think that the owners should pay for their own stadium? Yes. Am I willing to fork over $300 over a multi-year tax period if asked? Yes. I pay him exactly what he asks, and I bring he and his wife a veritable bounty of food and drink on a weekly basis to show my appreciation for allowing us to park. I know this is an issue that's close to your heart; I also don't think that saying I'm able to pay the increased costs associated with a new stadium makes me a villain in any way, shape, or form.
  10. We can...and as I replied to your last post: just because I can afford something, doesn't mean I'm going to pay for it before it's required of me.
  11. None for me, thanks. I'm happy parking at my buddy's house...and yes, I do pay. My point isn't that I would rather pay more to park; my point is that I could afford to do so...that doesn't mean that I'm going to pay more than necessary.
  12. ^this...drafting for need is often a sucker bet. Stock your roster with good football players, focusing primarily on premium positions, and worry about needs in FA.
  13. First, as I said, don't try to make me answer for the opinions of the author. While I may not know everything, I can assure you that I am the world's foremost authority on my opinion...and my opinion is that asking each tax-paying resident of Erie County to pay between $200 and $300--total--as part of stadium financing wouldn't exactly be the lead balloon that you're claiming.
  14. My pocketbook, and those of the fans that I sit with, converse with, work with, etc. Look no further than the 2005-2007 Eastern Conference finals runs that the Sabres put together. 20,000 fans had absolutely no hesitation about coughing up $200 per seat for multiple playoff games. Secondary market saw prices twice that high. To think that there aren't 65k people in Buffalo/Rochester/Southern Ontario that can afford the increased rates would be lunacy. I think that the author is referring to being able to attract FAs etc. by showing off their nice new facilities...also, you can attract a more affluent fan with nicer diggs--you know this. I also hope that you aren't asking me to justify the opinion of the author. I am.
  15. There's absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this area and its fans can afford both new stadium financing and PSLs. We can also afford to pay more for tickets and parking.
  16. I typically watch video on my phone and type notes on my desktop...keeps me from having to mess with the process too much.
  17. I have scouting write-ups on 111 players right now, and I'll probably add another 10-12 before the draft. My approach is generally the same as yours: get a working feel for the guys I believe will be day 1-2 picks, and then do a deeper dive on positions of need for Buffalo.
  18. I like Wilson's size and ball skills, but he's limited in terms of cover skills IMO Humphrey is, I think, a top-15 player. Nice long arms, athletic, aggressive. He's got some technique issues, and his ball skills leave something to be desired, but just a nice, solid corner.
  19. It's also why people like me typically say "I'd kick the tires on..."
  20. Unbelievably, that may even be low. I think my board has 17 corners in my top ~100 now
  21. Not sure--he was my suggestion for a vet RT from a month or two back.
  22. Well here's the good news: we're a proverbial-money-where-your-mouth-is kinda place, so post your board and a few years from now you can show us all how right you were! There are many of us that do so; feel free to join the club
  23. I find that last sentence quite ironic, as you're basically saying that you're against instant gratification, but you're also against taking a QB to groom behind Taylor. Bottom line with QBs is this: if there's a guy that you feel can be a franchise QB, and you don't have a guy in the fold who you know is a franchise QB, then you pick the QB. It's that important.
  24. I'd be shocked if they got that much for him. One strike away from an indefinite suspension, and hasn't played a down of football in years. To me, it's a conditional pick that can void if he's suspended before TC and can escalate to as high as a 4th based on performance and playing time
  25. He's property of the Browns; if we did indeed make contact, we better have had Cleveland's permission
