2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
thebandit27 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
We're pretty much on the same page. I think both Lee and Moore are sub-package guys for at least a year or two, but the fact that they can both move and cover gives them more value on this team than on others IMO. Like I said, I'd really like to go all science experiment and combine Lee's body type and technique with Moore's temperament and athleticism. -

Right? I keep hearing about how Barnett played his way out of contention to be drafted, and yet every single time I try to watch Willis, or Lee, or Moore, Barnett keeps popping off the screen. Lee is a very talented kid...he can range and cover. If you could take Moore's aggression and temperament and put it into Lee's approach to playing the run, you'd have a top-50 player IMO. I'd heard a bit about him...will have to try to take a look in the next day or so if I can. -

S. Gilmore or Nate Clements in their prime?
thebandit27 replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was a big fan of each guy, but for me, it's Gilmore Clements definitely had better ball skills, but Gilmore was a stickier coverage guy. I also didn't like that Clements would dance after allowing a 15-yard completion for a 1st down. Ready for me to really ruffle some feathers? I'd take Jabari Greer over any of them. -

I give you guys credit for trying--at some point, even I get tired of explaining things. There's a Princess Bride meme for everything these days -

Changes coming to Bills front office?

Sure, we've known for over a year that the Pegulas like to have things run by them in every case. They're not going to overrule their personnel dept though. The truth is that everyone should (and will) be on the same page. We're kidding ourselves, however, if we think that anything about the football operation has changed since after the coach was hired--The 53 is Whaley, as per himself and Pegula and McDermott. The coaching staff and game day 46 is McDermott. Whaley's job is to stock the roster with talent. He should absolutely be considering what his coach likes in a player when he turns in the draft card (he clearly did so with Rex), but not to the point where he drafts for need, as most smart fans have come to know that that's a sucker bet. So by your " logic", the intern that runs for coffee in the draft room can convince Pegula to draft someone? You're off your rocker here. Argue with the big 3; they're the ones that have said repeatedly that Doug has final say over the 53. I'm out. -

Your logic - unclear response clearly means that what was said by all 3 men involved in the process isn't true My logic - very clear response that is the same from all 3 men involved clearly means that what they said is true I think we're done here. -

Control over the 53 has been covered--ignore it if you do choose. One thing has been made clear by all 3 men; the other is nothing more than speculation on your part. That's really the extent of the discussion: should we believe direct quotes from Pegula/Whaley/McDermott or your speculation? Now let's take a step back and remember that this debate is all based on a hypothetical disagreement that is very unlikely to occur in the first place. So I suppose if you'd like to theorize about an unlikely hypothetical based on a non-commital response, then have at it; I won't stop you. As for insults, well, did you expect that an accusation that I called the owner a liar to be met with sugar and spice? If the point here is that an owner can always overrule his staff, well, didn't we already know that? -

Good grief. For someone that was upset about others' apparently "twisting" the narrative, you sure can Chubby Checker your way across the dance floor! You've taken quotes from all 3 of the owner, GM, and HC that made it crystal clear that Whaley has final say over the 53-man roster and chosen to obfuscate the situation because the owner called the draft a collaborative process. Simple 4th grade logic could tell anyone that the guy with final say over the 53 will be the tie breaker in the event of a disagreement that isn't going to take place. That you need it spelled out so blatantly shouldn't surprise me based on some previous interaction, but I am often amazed by the strangest things. I also find it beyond hilarious that you're referencing a change in the communications dept as some type of evidence that they've changed the personnel hierarchy since January Sorry, I'm inclined to believe all 3 of Pegula, McDermott, and Whaley that Whaley has final say over the 53. Especially since literally every piece of team-provided information supports that notion. What's more likely: that what every member of the front office says is true, or that some idea that you've cooked-up based on a non-commital response is true? Sorry if that doesn't agree with your conspiracy theory. -

It wasn't. He answered quite clearly: collaborative effort. Ideally nobody has to make a final call because there's a general consensus. -

This is kind of the point, right? The odds that the HC, and the GM that lead the search for said coach (who by the way said that he was "very comfortable" with the organizational structure here) are going to disagree to the point where there needs to be a tie-breaker are extremely low. A good GM hires a coach that shares the same philosophy. The GM is going to provide the coach with the tools that he needs, and they'll agree on player types etc. -

He said all along that their team-building efforts are a group process. He has also said all along that Whaley has control over the 53; what is there to clarify? -

Pegula said it was a collaborative process. You are twisting that into the idea that Whaley doesn't have final say over the 53, and why? I have no idea, since I posted a link in this very thread where Pegula, Whaley, and McDermott all say, in plain English, that Whaley has final say over the 53. http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/01/doug_whaley_sean_mcdermott_weigh_in_on_who_has_control_of_buffalo_bills_roster.html So there's no need to speculate over who would break the tie in the altogether unlikely scenario that the GM doesn't agree with the HC on who to pick. It's Whaley...that's what having final say over the 53 means. Arguing semantics about this is silliness when it's in print. Lastly, try following a discussion on occasion instead of being so quick to throw darts. I mean, I don't mind refuting silly accusations (like, for example, that I called the owner a liar--I'm assuming that's what "anoiar" means --or misinformed), but it kind of makes you look silly when you go in guns blazing against what amounts to nothing more than a straw man. -

First off, if Whaley has final say over the 53, which Pegula, Whaley, and McDermott have all stated on multiple occasions, then there's no need to make assumptions about who that "someone" would be that breaks the tie. Second, if K-9 is saying it, you can pretty much rely upon it. He tends to know such things. -

I have Lee as a fringe Day 2 pick--just outside my top 100. I think he's going to end up a R4-R5 pick, but I wouldn't blame any team if they took him a round higher. Blokes is going to outright laugh, because he called me out for my K-State issue already, but I really do like their defenders in this class. I think Lee is the best of the bunch, and I think most folks will have an early Day 3 grade on Jordan Willis as well, but it would not surprise me at all to see Charmeachealle Moore and Dante Barnett make NFL rosters as rookies either. -

I've endorsed drafting a day 3 LB that can cover and using him as a sub-package guy for this year. Guys I like that fit the mold include UCLA's Jayon Brown, the Kansas State due of Elijah Lee and Charmeachealle Moore, and Tennessee's Jaylen Reeves-Maybin. By the way, tell me you all wouldn't take this draft in a nanosecond: YOUR PICKS 1: R1P10 QB PATRICK MAHOMES II TEXAS TECH 2: R2P12 WR ZAY JONES EAST CAROLINA 3: R3P11 CB RASUL DOUGLAS WEST VIRGINIA 4: R5P12 S TEDRIC THOMPSON COLORADO 5: R5P27 LB JALEN REEVES-MAYBIN TENNESSEE 6: R6P11 DL JEREMIAH LEDBETTER ARKANSAS -

I think there was a very slim possibility of him being on the board before he showed that he was both healthy and explosive at his pro day. He's gotta fit into that 20-30 range now. I think Detroit, Miami, NYG, KC, GB, and Pittsburgh could all make sense for him in R1. -
It's not about what I think; multiple outlets said that the feeling coming out of his pro day is that Peppers is over-valued by analysts, and that NFL personnel evaluators don't think nearly as highly of him. I don't know how you can say that Shaq had a strong year. He was largely invisible. Now, I understand why that was the case, but a strong year? I disagree.
