  1. It may not be necessary, but if they could get a legit top-tier CB at No. 9 overall, that's a no-brainer...they'd have the makings of the best defensive backfield in football.
  2. I think there could still be a splash move remaining
  3. For Eifert and Callahan, that's most likely true. I didn't think the others had anything serious going on, but can't remember off the top of my head.
  4. Nice post. I don't think a team needs a WR1, but I do think that having such a player is extremely beneficial for the development of a young QB. I know I've said it already, but, IMO, the best thing about Buffalo's WR group is that they have multiple types of each style of WR with which Allen had success last year. They have Foster and John Brown to play the boundary speed role. They have Beasley and Zay to play the shiftier slot role. They have McKenzie and Victor Bolden to play the gadget role. What they're missing is the big-bodied, catch radius red-zone guy IMO. Maybe they feel like they can count on Kroft/Croom to be that guy, but I sure would like to see a N'Keal Harry type of 50/50 ball specialist with some downfield speed added in the draft to fill that role. Just my 1 cent.
  5. He's among a number of players on which the market has been eerily silent. Other guys include: Justin Houston Bryce Callahan Ndamukong Suh Pierre Desir Jared Cook Tyler Eifert
  6. Factoring in the 4 you mentioned, they're going to be ~$30M under
  7. Great to hear--that was one ugly injury
  8. If anyone wants to post noteworthy results from pro days, maybe we can keep them all in a single thread? I'll start with a few great performances: Tanner Farmer, the OL from Nebraska, putting up 39 reps in the bench and posting a 32.5" vertical Also from Nebraska, Dedrick Young II with a solid 26 reps, 36" vertical, and 10' broad jump Tre Crawford, the undersized LB from UAB, put up a 42" vertical at 228 lbs
  9. 5 points for use of an advanced noun
  10. Nope. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/spencer-long-14488/ He got $1.2M guaranteed, and the team has a club option for the last 2 years of the deal. As a practical matter, they could cut him this year and only have $1.2M in dead money. He's signed for backup interior OL money, which is what I expect him to be...and that's a great thing IMO.
  11. I would probably hang onto Murphy. Aside from having 4 solid pass rushers in 2019, he's their only pass rush threat that's currently under contract for 2020.
  12. Makes no sense. You probably aren't getting a 3 for Hughes, and there's a chance that someone signs him to a sizeable deal in UFA next year--he'll be only 31, and Cam Wake just got a decent deal at 36
  13. All 3 of those guys, but probably not before the draft. No point in letting go of veteran experience before you know you've replaced it unless you absolutely need the cap room.
  14. Spotrac is your friend: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/washington-redskins/cap/
  15. I love the temperament and recognition...I hate the fact that he seems to prefer using his shoulders and hips to his hands. Hopefully Bobby Johnson can coach him up to improve his hand usage/placement, otherwise I could see him getting abused by hand-fighters like Leonard Williams. Nevertheless I agree that this is a high-upside move.
  16. Huh? That's the exact opposite of what it says. Teams that feel confident in their ability to evaluate talent are comfortable drafting and developing players. Teams that aren't make trades instead (but obviously smart teams make trades too).
  17. Well, it's either that, or he didn't like the compensation. Or Gettleman didn't like it. Or they felt they could be just as effective elsewhere.
  18. Beane ain't afraid to deal, that's for sure. Let's move on to Julio ?
  19. So the Giants traded Olivier Vernon and OBJ to Cleveland for a 1st, a 3rd, Jabrill Peppers, and Kevin Zeitler. That's actually kind of not lopsided.
  20. All of that can be true without knocking Zay was my point
  21. There are still a LOT of guards out there to be had: Saffold, Spain, Garland, Cann, and even our old pal Andy Levitre among others.
