Jerry Jones talks stadium & other stuff, likes Bon Jovi
May Day 10 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A guess a real question we should consider is: would the NFL consider preserving the Bills (provided a new stadium/equivalent) with the promise of a future Toronto expansion/relo in the next decade? Do they believe both teams could/would survive? -

it certainly sounds like he is setting the table for the Bills move to Toronto but is so close, nobody is losing a team defense. "I know this: personally I’m grateful for the great fans and support for NFL football that we have in Northern New York, and certainly as it is right now, they’re in the Toronto market area. " -

NF is tucked into a corner surrounded by natural borders. They would have to basically redesign/rebuild the city for 8-10 dates a year. NF cant get out of their own way to do anything which is why the American side features 2 competing Indian restaurants. We are talking mega-bucks and time. A football stadium also does not magically create a whirlwind of development in a vacuum like that. To me, Batavia is more of a believable option. If in "Niagara Falls" it would have to be out toward Wheatfield. -
Van miller was tops. Best football pbp I ever heard. He was a master at building the intensity and framing each play.

Oh yeah for sure. I go off about the nf idea being stupid. But if construction were announced I would be doing flips -
Selling of Bills Could Happen Even Sooner

I was referring to Mr Big Buff and this: I dont see the Williams thing as an example Brandon solely called all the shots. Its just an example there wasnt some imaginary marketing/football line Brandon wouldnt cross. He was also the rep to go meet with Shanahan, and the spokesperson for most everything with the team and he freely speaks of personnel/football matters. I think it takes a great deal of imagination to pretend he didnt have anything to do with the football team until 2013. As far as the shift in power, I dont really see it as that major. Nix was going to walk anyways. It was the Bills' 3-year "cleanse" where they kind of shift around. Brandon went from CEO to President, and Whaley promoted from asst GM to GM and they hired Marrone as HC. Anyways, Ive participated in this same discussion too many times. It doesnt get anywhere. It is very not relevant at this point in time. A new owner if he took over this Summer would be foolish to make any major moves until January (unless the wheels fall off come October/November). I really do like the roster too and believe the Watkins move was a coup. I dont even want to discuss this at this point. They make the playoffs I can and likely will change my opinion. My opinion on RW changed quite a bit seeing that a local sale seems very probable... I agree which is why Im angry I got drawn into this... again

Cmon. He has been ceo for more than 6 years. I'm not going to buy that he couldn't truly call the shots until 2013. He was given the keys to the Ferrari. No way he isn't going to participate in the football stuff. Any one of us would. Shots from the war room show him front and center with materials in front of him. Meeting with coaching candidates... is he asking them about potential sponsorship partners or what style fleece to order for the store? I will also say the levitre uncontested non sign with zero replacement reeks of business as usual as does the mishandling of the Byrd situation. Also why wax poetic about being all in to win then a couple months later sign another toronto deal? Then postpone it (still unsure which party initiated that). Anyways. I am optimistic about this roster though and if they are a playoff team, it changes things

come on, man. Have you even followed this team for longer than 5 minutes? You really dont need to work hard and use your imagination to be negative. anyways.... Im done. Not in the mood to be negative right now. Im liking the roster, coaches, and never felt more optimistic on the team's future in Buffalo

Im on board with this. Its not an argument Im in the mood to have right now. I feel very optimistic about the team. Loved the Watkins trade and Cyrus Kilimanjaro. But if its another last place season I believe the new owner should clean house. Enough of this. Making an NFL team better than last place is not rocket science and shouldnt take long.

100% Williams' fault, Mularkey's fault, Donahoe's fault, and Marv's fault, and Modrak's, fault, and Guy's fault, Jauron's fault, Gailey's fault, Ralph's fault, Nix's fault, Littman's fault pre-demotion. Definitely nothing to do with Brandon. Then after the next few last place finishes we can add Whaley and Marrone to the wall of fame there and try to give Brandon a larger promotion to make sure he can finally get this team to succeed.

since 2008 he has been the GM/CEO, CEO, and then Super-CEO or whatever. The team has finished nowhere but last place since. He was the one interviewing coaching candidates the past 2 rounds. he sits front and center with the GM in the war room. He is comfortable fielding questions about the makeup of the team, personnel decisions, etc (as opposed to deferring them to the personnel guys). I think people are delusioned to think he isnt welding some degree of say

2008 2008 NFL AFC East 4th 7 9 0 2009 2009 NFL AFC East 4th 6 10 0 2010 2010 NFL AFC East 4th 4 12 0 2011 2011 NFL AFC East 4th 6 10 0 2012 2012 NFL AFC East 4th 6 10 0 2013 2013 NFL AFC East 4th 6 10 0 Cant really argue with that. Finishing Last in a 4 team division (that includes the Jets and Dolphins) 6 straight seasons is quite an anomaly. They always seem to blame it on the guys just let go, or guys "demoted" somehow, while Brandon keeps getting promoted and is swept away from all blame of failure, while getting credit for anything that goes right. Its Stockholm Syndrome.

If they make the playoffs, new ownership probably wouldnt want to mess with that because the fan switch would be turned on and the city would be all Bills-energized. If they disappoint, I think it is important a new owner establishes a complete culture change from the top down. Face it they havent won a playoff game in what would be 18 years, and miss for what would be 15 straight. Thats almost a generational failure. There are adults who cant remember a playoff victory and may have vague memories of the Music City Miracle bow out of the playoffs forever. I also do not believe the Bills have a very good or respected opinion from the members of the NFLPA (and agents and such). They need to do what they can to change that.
-
I would like to see how this season plays out. They swung for the fences (here, the fences have been moved in to just sneaking in the playoffs) by getting Williams, Spikes, trading up for Watkins, and trading Stevie. If they make the playoffs, they are trending the right way. If they are 6-10 and finish in last for the 7th year in a row, please take him out back and release us from this hell.

Batavia possible stadium site?

It just sounds like all bases/possibilities are being covered and homework is being done. Before long, it will be narrowed down to 3-4 workable possibilities. IMO they will include an adjacent lot in OP, UB/Audubon, and 1 or 2 different downtown possibilities.
