  1. It stinks. They have destroyed niagara falls over 40 to 50 years. In order to raze the chemical plants and clean all that up, it would likely be over a billion dollars and take a decade. It would require money from the federal government, state, and lawsuit settlements. It's really really sad what they have done to the place.
  2. That would double the price of the stadium and take years and years
  3. I was as uncomfortable with Wilson's ownership and management as anybody, but I would never expect him to just sign $100's of millions to the government. I do think there should have/could have been something done to help lock in the future more, such as sell off a small piece. Maybe there is/was some sort of instruction to accompany the sale/trust. This lease agreement also seems favorable in allowing us the opportunity to keep the team. Mr Wilson also created the Bills and they have been here >50 seasons! He also was historically against relocations in the NFL. Im not going to completely sugarcoat it though. He was a colossally bad owner when it comes to a quality football team. Its the past now. The best we can do is worry on the present and future and think positively. I get excited when I think of new ownership with no black cloud of whats around the bend
  4. if he sold the team, the sale price would be taxed. Then the money would be taxed when passed down. This way, his family gets hit 1x I believe Also remember, he was also likely "planning" on living past 100.
  5. that is still a complete disaster. Pine Avenue? Not to mention, I cant even get to work in NF without nearly wrecking my car on one of dozens of horrific potholes and spots where the asphalt on the road was stripped down and never replaced. And traffic is one of a hundred reasons why NF would be extremely unlikely to impossible. The idea actually makes me chuckle.
  6. Cannibal Corpse and Mark Hammister make it happen
  7. you are forgetting the likely hundreds of millions or billions in environmental cleanup costs and an awful, corrupt, and incompetent group of politicians and unions up in niagara county. Not to mention a fraction of the tax paying population as Erie County. Also the Grand Island bridges would be horrendous. I would be absolutely floored/shocked if this was built in Niagara Falls. It is a complete gong show (and its closer to me than O.P., Amherst, or even downtown Buffalo
  8. I would prefer renovating RWS and installing grass if possible. 2nd choice would be open air at an adjacent site 3rd choice retractable at adjacent site 4th choice open air downtown basically whatever keeps the team in WNY Im cool with though
  9. I love, love, love this pick if the guy lasts to the 3rd, or late in the 2nd and it isnt going to cost an arm and a leg to move to get him.
  10. there are pros and cons where I could see Jacobs' motivations for either keeping the Bruins, selling and Buying the Bills, or any other possibilities. It depends on what is going through his and his families' heads...
  11. The thing with Jacobs and his bruins/boston fan history.... Jacobs is a big union buster. He wouldn't spend out of control like the Rangers, flyers, and red wings etc... were doing. I'm sure he was quite angry. Also boston sports fans are generally entitled and whiney. He is always at the forefront for a cap for the nhl pa and since the cap has been in place they have taken off
  12. yeah, welcome. I think we need to make some kind of formal treaty between Buffalo and Cleveland sports fans. Our cities are so similar in heartbreak/failure in sports. Cleveland roots for the Sabres, Buffalo roots for the Cavs and Indians (Im a huge Tribe fan). We pull for the Browns/Bills depending on who is out first.
  13. even by 12 months is much quicker than I had expected/hoped for and a good sign IMO
  14. ... unless the team increases in value. Golisano didnt make money on the Sabres at all... but once he sold....
  15. I wonder if he had learned his lesson with the Sabres and will immediately nuke the front office this time.
  16. Philly? I lived there and it was fine. Especially the way the Arenas/stadiums are set up. Was so easy getting out.
  17. There seems to be smoke here. Pegula is definitely a guy who just gets things done as well.
  18. Not to mention the last thing the nfl wants is big controversy and legal proceedings to quickly and unfairly rip a team from a loyal and we'll respected fanbase. Especially while the public just financed some stadium improvements
  19. I have never felt this optimistic on the bills' future!
  20. no. Niagara Falls is an embarrassing hellhole
  21. I agree. As time goes, the more unique and valuable the whole RWS "thing" will be. Look at Wrigley Field. Everyone I know has made a trip there and loved it. Its mainly a matter of structural integrity, and how feasible it is they dont interrupt September - December/January (lol). Any major renovation there can create potential revenue streams. I really do like the UB/Amherst idea, especially if UB can work out a deal with themselves and a better NCAA Conference (as well as the public here). I would think if interest can grow, conferences would really be open to landing the WNY TV market. Will people show up? I dont know. I currently attend games in the MAC and I love it, but disappointed more people dont go. It doesnt help that the stadium there is the worst venue I have witnessed any sport in. I do think if the Bills left, the program would stand a chance to take off. But if they can crowbar everything into the same facility... and UB could be in the Big10 or ACC with large crowds. Oh my. UB is pouring money into the current monstrousity though. I will add West Virginia sells beer too, and may be the only Big 12 school that does so.
  22. I like that too. You have a lot of converging traffic ways there that can be tied into, you would have UB there that would present more state money justification as well as extend it from 10-12 dates to say 16-18. Plus maybe a bowl game.
  23. PTR has a pretty good take there. I love the idea of renovating RWS, but realistically it may be nearly impossible. Niagara Falls wont happen IMO. It seems Erie County has and will hold their foot in the door and Polancarz hinted there was some sort of language in the lease that would lock in EC. Niagara Falls is a dump. Literally, so we would also likely need countless State and Federal funds (and time) to clean up all the environmental damage there. Also worth mentioning the politicians up there are complete bozos. That is too much to overcome in an already tenuous process.
  24. Any new "renovations" we are speaking of would likely be started in 2020 or so. They would likely be a bit of structural enhancements as well as complete rebuild of areas. It would basically use the same shell and build a "new" stadium with it. Look at soldier field. You would walk in opening day and it would look like a much different stadium. I just wonder if they can do it during the course of an offseason. I wonder if they would have to play a season at the Carrier Dome or something.
  25. we all want the same thing. Brandon, etc isnt going anywhere under the trust. Team should be sold in 1.5-3.5 years? If the team succeeds before then, hooray for everyone. If they are 6-10, than let the cleansing commence.
