  1. It's a sad one. She took on her fight with courage and dignity. I was never a watcher of her shows, but she entertained and touched the lives of millions in that way, and that's pretty cool.
  2. Our winters now are constant 40 degree weather, with 2 major snow events
  3. Things like this used to bother me and get under my skin. He isn't entirely wrong though. While south Florida isn't my cup of tea, buffalo, even with all it's charms and acquired tastes, is a few notches below most other pro sports cities. Desperately need a fortune 500 or 3 to anchor downtown. Need money, people, and a self-sustained downtown economy. People dislike the snow and cold. I do wonder when/if our climate and access to cold water could make this area a huge hot spot by the time jonnu Smith is an old man
  4. Classic 80s player Those Browns teams were pretty decent. Webster Slaughter, Ozzie Newsome, Reggie Langhorne with Kosar throwing in old Cleveland Municipal.
  5. With the high side, it kind of reminds me of War Memorial Stadium
  6. Sam Dickinson was the guy. Top 5 talent. They traded out of that pick though for some reason.
  7. I loathe trump. This debate is a slaughter. Trump looks 10x more presidential than Biden. The dnc needs to make a change.
  8. It is common belief that ty cobb was a racist monster. In recent years, a lot of al stump's slander has been peeled back. Ty Cobb was, in fact, was a vocal supporter of integration. https://nypost.com/2015/05/31/how-ty-cobb-was-framed-as-a-racist/
  9. I'd say B. Has been really good in most categories. I would also rate him in the top 10 GMs currently. He has a few bad extensions, and has floundered at edge rusher. The fork in the road between investing in von Miller and a 1a or 1b receiver has maybe cost the bills a title or 2.
  10. It was largely divided into a couple camps who would always argue, and any topic went back to: Russ Brandon is really the defacto GM, Ralph Wilson doesnt care, the (current) coach is just happy to be here, and is agreeable to working under Russ brandon with limited resources and there was no attempt at a real coaching search. vs Russ brandon is a marketing genius and has nothing to do with the football team, and would be scooped up by another franchise in 30 seconds if they fired him. Nix, Whaley, etc are smart. The previous seasons are the fault of *fill in ex coach or front office name*.
  11. Its actually perfect. The person/people who made this list clearly forgot the Sabres existed. Perfect summary of them. Not relevant.
  12. I think its a decent schedule. I like the early Thursday game, and much more routine, or close to it the rest of the season. It ends with 3 games that should be winnable if the team needs them. Wish they were playing SF at 1PM on Sunday.
  13. Depends on budget and what you want. If you want to sit with crazies, the scoreboard end zone is where its at. Views if you want comfort, relax, and have a better bathroom/concessions experience, sit in the clubs (not the indoor fish bowl clubs!)
  14. The patriots get the screw over game this year
  15. I saw somewhere that a leak (could be bogus) that showed New England's schedule and they open vs Tennessee. If that were true, that would leave jacksonville and Arizona at Buffalo as the 2 most likely games at 1PM
  16. That means a higher probability of opening the season at home.
  17. Hot, but at least at night
  18. @ San Francisco on MNF is probably the worst-case opener for the Jets. Holy smokes. Tough defense, top-2 team in the league, West Coast, then will likely have a short week coming back East for the 2nd game. That's a team with its media and fan base who can't endure a bad start. I have seen some smoke around the internet that the Bills will be hosting a Christmas game.
  19. I like John Murphy. A fixture on local sports. Has has a good voice for pbp, but I thought he was terrible at painting the picture of the play. He would fail to build up the play. Would often leave out key factors like down/distance, how far a completed pass was, where the ball is, etc. The original iteration of his One Bills Live show was excellent. He provided a lot of great content and he was a really good interviewer. I do think there is a place for him in Bills' media if he wants and is capable.
  20. Other than the other upstate places like Syracuse and Rochester, Id say Hartford is reminded me a bit of Buffalo. Just the look and size. Cleveland is a good comparison. I always describe Cleveland as "Buffalo on steroids". I have lived a few different places, and Id say South Jersey was the most at home I felt other than Buffalo.
  21. I have a good feeling about the troy kid from what I hear. However it could be Xavier omon/Michael jasper vibes
  22. There was also an article not too long ago that there were talks to bring in Doug McLean, but it was snuffed out. IMO it is much easier to build a good NFL team. You need a good CEO/coach, a savvy GM in synergy with the coach, and need to hit at a good QB. You can turn over a roster and cap situation in 2 years time. The NHL has extensive scouting, drafting, and development that requires several aspects of the organization being run well. Building an NHL team is also a lot more involved and intricate than an NFL team. Bad decisions with the cap can doom the NHL squad for many years. The President/GM is the CEO of the team in the NHL, while the head coach typically is in the NFL. The Sabres have had a general power vacuum dating back to John Muckler. They have not had a strong GM/president since then. They hit on McDermott. He is a good and thorough manager. I think he has a strong enough personality to hear what Pegula has to say, but do what he things is right anyways. Beane is cut from the same cloth. They have earned plenty of trust with Pegula.
  23. Off topic, but Sahlen Field/Pilot Field is vastly overrated at this point. It was ground-breaking in 1988. However, it is not a good design with today's standards. It needs to be about 5-6K seats smaller, needs to have open concourses and a better standing/socialization scene. It also has a terrible backdrop. The concourses are like a concrete tomb. If you are there with a large crowd on a hot day, the concession lines clog up the concourse every 40 feet or so, and it is about 25 degrees hotter in there than anywhere else. The sitelines are also gunked up there as you go down foul territory. The seats face the outfield much more than current designs and in the case of a full/large crowd, you need to look across a lot of people sideways to see the infield. All the newer AAA and AA ballparks have passed it by. The Jays' renovations during covid put a decent coat of paint on the insides, and improved the lighting, but without that, the ballpark would be in much worse decay. People locally still talk about it like it is the Minor League's crown jewel. It is now the 2nd oldest park in AAA, oldest in the International league, and it is dusted by places like Columbus, Indianapolis, Nashville, Charlotte, etc.
