Lol check out these patriot fans comments
May Day 10 replied to Lafromboise's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Andre Tippett, Irving Fryar, Stanley Morgan, Tony Eason, Steve Grogan, John Stephens -
beating Colts/Ravens/Titans at home, then the Texans on the road is a real possibility, if not probability. Then, if the Chiefs (who havent looked stellar lately) get upset, New England magically hosts another AFC Championship game If the Patriots lose one and the Steelers can pass them, their road gets a bit tougher as they would have to play the Chargers (probably) in round 1, and then have to travel to KC.... and their chances of hosting the AFCC would rely on Colts/Ravens/Titans winning through.

Lol check out these patriot fans comments

I agree with this. Part of being a sports fan is deprivation. Without deprivation, its just fake. I feel like the Detroit Red Wings' 20+ years of success did long term damage to their fan-base. That fan base will be an interesting case-study if that franchise has some lean years. Who would there would/could get excited if they are merely in a wild card chase near .500? Or even 4-7 playing out the stretch and searching for positive signs? These people have almost been defaulted into the Divisional Round and AFCC for like 18 years. It is going to be very hard for fans of the Patriots to find 'joy' other than hollowly using "their" rings as a trump card in any debate I want a sucessful and world class organization. However, perpetual success at that extreme I think would de-sensitize me and the rest of the fan base. -
Sal C, talking but saying nothing...
May Day 10 replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sal seems like a nice guy, and he has passion for what he does. Cant hate that. Im not a big fan of him on the radio in large doses. He speaks quickly, and when he disagrees with someone he speaks loudly into the microphone which comes across poorly. He as also shies away from being critical of anyone, but i understand his position with the bills/wgr. The entire station let up on the bills 100% when they regained broadcast rights. Through the sabres' tank to get eichel, sal was against it and would yell some terrible takes into his microphone. I also couldnt care less about syracuse sports or the yankees I think he is popular because he is a likeable guy, enjoys what he is doing, and he has a positive outlook which makes fans more comfortable. Its been a long era of negativity, most of it has been earned, but everyone is a bit fatigued by it -
Brady and Belichick Deserve to Go Out On Top
May Day 10 replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They have had their share of glory and I wont feel bad for them if they go out with a whimper. It is very hard to win Superbowls, just ask Jim Kelly, Marino, Rivers, etc. B or B could have walked off after the Atlanta Superbowl and chose not to. No matter what Belichick will be firmly established in the Mt Rushmore of NFL head coaches, if not, on the very top. Brady will always been in the best QB convo. They have been very fortunate to reside in the AFC Least with a waltz to a relatively uncontested 4-6 wins to pocket and provide the inside track to a 1st round bye and a home field throughout, which they leverage into AFCC appearances and beyond. -
Definitely reluctant to call them "done", as I would be weary about Belichick re-tooling, but they do not look good at all, and some of their key pieces are aging/aged. In a game like yesterday (like last year's PIT game), Brady can just keep chucking it to Gronkowski and bust them through. It doesnt seem like that is an option any more. The Pats have eroded in too many areas and lack top-end goods to overcome deficiencies. If they were in any other Division, they would not even be a wild card team. If Belichick retires this offseason, the Pats run is 'done'.

That Raiders game comes to mind as my main vivid norwood memory post xxv. I remember flipping to the sabres game immediately after the game and that was when they had the near bench clear vs calgary. And no. I remember no protests against moving on to christie. In fact, i used to listen to talk radio daily and dont remember this being a thing at all.

Chic-Fil-A In New Era Stadium
May Day 10 replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah. Ive had it before and its just a fast food joint -
So they can preserve their cash cow solo television deal and not be "forced" to go in with the rest of a conference. It also gives them more leeway for their tactful scheduling.

Schopp was pretty consistent with Allen since pre-draft, and it fits with his entire schtick. He is into advanced stats and analytics. Also he like modern ways of thinking like the proliferation of passing/spread offenses, going for it, etc... He loathes things like momentum, smash mouth football, run-first offense, building a team defense-first, and drafting a QB because he has "big hands" and you need "big hands" to play in Buffalo. He has said since the draft, the case of Allen is a huge test for the "analyticals" vs "raw talent/physical attribute" crowd. It is an interesting case study. I subscribe to Schopp's way of thinking, not as religiously, but I get it. I did not want them to draft Allen either. Allen has exceeded my year 1 expectations, but I still have concerns.

AFC East: Bills Stay in 3rd Place

Tennessee and Denver would be our standing-based non-division opponents as of now -
Bills have released Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes
May Day 10 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
its about time. Benjamin wont be long for the NFL. -
Ex athletes dont always (or often) make good broadcasters. Especially when it comes to filling an entire 4-hour show. NFL players also seem a bit more.... 'rigid' than NHL players. I think Tasker is pretty boring on One Bills Live, and he has been doing it for going on 2 decades. Donald Jones was an absolute bore. Someone mentioned Eric Wood, but how would he be 20 hours a week... and would he want to move to Buffalo for a heavy-lift type of gig that pays peanuts compared to his NFL-money? I value the point of view of a "fan" for shows like that. Need X's and O's, that's what guests are for. A daily 4-hour show only about analyzing the game itself, realistic roster moves, the makeup of the practice squad, etc would be awful for a 4-8 team.

Generation X: Arcade Games You Kicked Ass At
May Day 10 replied to Gugny's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I wasnt a big arcade guy as they cost $ and I wasnt really unleased in the mall as a kid or anything. There was a Roadblasters machine at the Holiday Inn on Grand Island which I played a lot. We were able to get certain games there to spit out free quarters and would lay Roadblasters which was fun. I played a good amount of Nintendo as a kid. I would say my best "accomplishment" was beating Battletoads, although didn't reach that 'pinnacle' until the Summer after I graduated college -
I cant figure out why it makes people unhappy and it riles them up. I listen to the morning show at work. I like both guys pretty well enough. I like hockey hotline as well. Peters (who I hated with Sylvester) has improved a lot, and him with Biron and Rivet is great. I do not enjoy the John Murphy show and usually put on music for the rest of the day. It is just kind of dull, and by then I had enough sports talk. I dont listen to schopp and the bulldog much. To me, its very repetitive, as is being a fan of these teams. I will listen on my commute sometimes and they put on a good show. When the Sabres were hot, I was tuning in. There is a show on 1270 with Gleason and Sullivan. There are various podcasts like Buscaglia and Fairburn which is quite good. There is that one posted above. There are options. It is just a lot. We are looking at (on WGR) like 60-80 hours per week dedicated to talking about the Bills and Sabres. What can they possibly talk about that much and remain interesting and pleasing to everybody. A host saying that "Lamar Jackson has out-passed Josh Allen, come at me", is a smart way to rile people up and fill in some hours. And it is a defensible position. It isnt from being a social justice warrior or a "lib". Its carrying a radio program with limited content in a somewhat uninteresting Bills season.

What do people want in Sports Radio talk show hosts? We hate Murphy, we hate Schopp, Bulldog, White, Bucky and Sully.... anyone else? We hate everyone in the Buffalo news. Hate everyone on national telecasts, Lacanfora, etc.... We just want 24 hours of "Sal"? I couldnt imagine having the job of driving content in the Buffalo market, covering 2 teams who have been really bad and not relevant for a long time
