  1. Im fine with my level of fan-dom. It was a touching story on how the Bills and fan base took him in, and he seemed like a nice guy and all. The Pancho packs thing was great. But full-page collages in the Buffalo newspaper and a 5 minute pregame ceremony... and seeing people on social media suggestion he get inducted on the wall of fame, and we start a pancho billa chant before every game, etc is a bit... odd
  2. The behavior before and at games is a small fraction of what it was 10 years ago.
  3. I was fine with it when it was just the thing to do, and had an inaudible wink between me and the customer service rep, it was easy, and I felt like a valued customer putting one over on Time Warner/Spectrum/Comcast, etc. They were almost always able to give me everything I wanted/needed, and kept the price within reach of the Cable Company's triple-play introductory price... and it would take a couple minutes. I dont want to call every year and go to the mat trying to get deals, and seeing others with better deals, and needing a spreadsheet to track what I am getting in comparison with other options. It shouldnt be like buying a car. Its a media technology on its death throes anyway.
  4. Long offseason, season over in 8 days... Gosh i feel that
  5. I think they ratcheted up the tnf games last year when the deal changed. Jacksonville/Tennessee is interesting. Then eagles packers, then rams seahawks. Contrast that bears redskins, bengals, steelers, and browns 49ers. Im in the minority of nfl fans who love tnf. It makes for a long football weekend. Usually have an interesting ncaa game friday, saturday, like 14 hours of ncaa, sunday nfl, then mnf. Tuesday-Wednesday breather, then its already thursday again. Its also another game we get to watch instead of being buried on sunday afternoon
  6. Monday has become the 4th tier of NFL games. 1st - Premier - Sunday night 2nd - Thursday Night 3rd - Premier 4 OClock game(s) 4th - MNF 5th - 1 O'Clock trash heap
  7. I agree with the original post. For too long, this franchise's priority was to remain solvent, run by people in Ralph Wilson's football circle. Then, for whatever reason, Terry Pegula stuck with the same people for awhile before learning that this team was not yet in the 21st century. Russ Brandon was committed to Russ Brandon. Wanted to make a name for himself so he could land on his feet elsewhere in the NFL, mainly on the football side. That was his dream and his goal and his reason for being in the profession. Ralph Wilson did all in his power to assist Brandon in chasing that goal. Levy, Nix, Whaley, etc were largely puppets/"co-GMs" along with Brandon and Overdorf to help Russ Brandon learn the ropes. They kept in-demand GMs and Coaches at arms reach because they didnt want to upset the power structure (and in-demand coaches and GMs knew to stay away). We were fed the 'continuity' line over and over, which was tough to swallow because we were being told the Bills should continue with crap. As a result, we got a lot of garbage. Poor management, disjointed. Struggles at times. Our 2 most 'successful' coaches quit after winning seasons. The Watkins trade was 100% desperation to prop up Manuel to make themselves look good because they knew the clock was ticking on their employment status. Low regard for the future. McDermott and Beane feel different. It feels like a cohesive franchise and an attention to detail that we haven't seen in a long time. It feels like they are adaptable. Players seem to really like to play here and word will get out.
  8. I agree with this. I was told that I loved being negative, I wasnt a real fan, and that I rooted for them to lose because I disapproved of the chronically poor management. It was very poor and it was/is clear as day. Now, I am pleased with McDermott/Beane and feel like they are going in the right direction. I have supported them throughout.... although I waivered a bit with the QB 'mismanagement' early last season.
  9. "Lets just focus on _______ this week before we think about the ________ game" Thats one that always makes me lol.
  10. Tough loss. Looks like a tough season
  11. I would like to have witnessed important Bills games over the past 20 years
  12. Cant wait until this goes away rather quietly, Brown puts his head down and catches 15 touchdowns, and we get to hear how Belichick and Kraft 'rehabilitated' him.
  13. Im just so fatigued on this team. Go away.
  14. Unsportsmanlike penalty forgotten/forgiven
  15. I wasnt a big fan of the first one. I thought the story was a mess and they totally missed the boat with the kids' connection to one another. They just made the clown scarier so everyone loved it
  16. If they would have lost, especially held without a TD, I would have a much different attitude towards the game... With that said, at halftime, they were down by 8 after turning the ball over 4 times. Turnovers are a thing, but 2 were tipped passes and somewhat flukey. They are all correctable. The Bills were moving the ball somewhat, on the road, against a stingy defense. In the past, we would see a long line of 3-and-outs that include run-run-check down pass 5 yards shy of the 1st down line. Yesterday, they were converting on quick hit designed passes. When Allen did have time and his primary was covered, he wasnt checking down to the RB. He was able to go through a progression without getting wasted. Stepped up properly a few times. He also was able to donk it off at the right times. All these things appeared to be progress over what we have seen throughout the drought. All these things can go up in flames real quick. And it they turn it over 4 times next game, then we might have a problem. The stupid un-timely penalties too. Id rather have those problems than an inept 3-and-out factory I also want to say that I am what I would consider a 'realist' fan, often getting accused here of being negative and rooting for the Bills to lose.
  17. I was saying this as well. I thought they executed very well in the first half. A few correctable things like the turnovers and stupid/untimely penalties stunted their progress. I have to admit, my mind was going into a dark place when the wheels came off briefly with the safety, TD, and circus 2PT... but other than that stretch, the Bills were far and away the better team.
  18. The steelers are done and will be exposed this year. The Patriots' d is really good though. Imo, their offense can be a week link, but antonio brown is scary and gordon looked really strong
  19. I listened to the first 5 minutes or so and he was giving the bills a lot of credit. Are we hoping him to be ecstatic?
