  1. In one year he has that Raven offense in the top ten 8th & 12th from 25th & 30th, and built a solid power zone blocking scheme with Justin Forsett at RB. Flacco improved to 27 TD's - 12 INT's from 2013 with 19 TD's -22 INT's. Yeah, so much better then Jim Caldwell did the year previous. Caldwell's offense in Detroit sucks at around 20th, and its their #1 defense keeping them afloat.
  2. I love Frank Reich, just not enough experience as an OC at this time for me. No offense but we don't need another HC learning as he goes.
  3. To all the Bills fans thinking that old school doesn't work need to direct their eyes at this years 12-4 Dallas Cowboys who are doing it the old way by building a big, powerful O line and pounding the rock. They have a RB who just broke Emmett Smith's rushing record in a season, and are giving QB Tony Romo ample time to throw. So its not just a passing league, and never has been. 476 passing attempts vs 507 rushing attempts. RB DeMarco Murray 392 attempts, 1845 yards, 13 TD's. 57 receptions for 416 yards. That Cowboy offense is 5th in points, 7th in yards. The Steelers have had Big Ben for years and only recently with Le'Veon Bell have they become a force, Bell is very much in the mold of Thurman Thomas as he is about 75% of that Pittsburgh offense. 290 rushing attempts with 1361 yards, 8 TD's, and where he is really different is 83 receptions for 854 yards 3 TD's is better then a lot of WR's. Bill Cowher AKA "The Chin" probably won't take the Bills job because he wants a team with an established good QB already on the roster. Although all the talent on the defense might be enough to lure him from the broadcast booth. This man isn't a fossil, as he watches a ton of game film every week to keep up with the current offenses, and defenses so he can accurately report on what he is looking at on game day. Let me remind everyone that Dick Vermeil spent 14 years in the broadcast booth after taking the Eagles to a SB, and then joined the St Louis Rams as a HC and won a SB. After the Rams he went to KC and had a 13-3 season with them. He did this at 61, Marv Levy was also 61 when he joined the Bills. What Bill Cowher would bring with him is a wealth of experience in knowing what schemes he wants to run, and who he wants to run them. He will probably keep Jim Schwartz as DC, and hire an NFL experienced offensive coordinator. He would never hire a Nathaniel Hackett. He would build a team Bills fans would cherish with a power run game, and stout defense. Lets not forget how many seasons of playoff teams Cowher had in Pittsburgh with complete bums at QB. Bill Cowher won a power struggle in Pittsburgh with Tom Donahoe over player talent, so the man knows what he is looking at on the field and would never even allow a player like Colin Brown to take the field in a Bills Uni. Bill Cowher might be enough of a force in the HC / FO to keep Whaley and have great drafts. No more inexperienced college puke assistants like Gailey & Marrone hired please.
  4. I'm a wait and see type of guy, and when I saw him on the practice field tutoring Colin Brown and others I said OK, now lets see what happens. Six games into the 2013 season Colin Brown was so bad he was cut off the team, and Doug Legursky took over at LG. I knew right then and there he was a poser.
  5. Funny stuff Jets fans will turn green after watching a few games with maroon as HC
  6. Geez, the guy is only 77 years old, he might be to young. We can always ask Chuck Knox to coach the Bills, as he is only 82. While we are at it if those two don't want the job we could go the Marty Schottenheimer route, he is only a spry 71.
  7. One thing is for certain the man knows offense, and would build a top O line and run game. His team did get to 10-6 in 2011, and 12-4 in 2012, and he suffered a mini stroke during the week 9 game of the 2013 season. Dunno why that 2013 team was so bad, perhaps it was an injury to Arian Foster that limited him to 8 games, and Matt Schaub imploded for some reason that season 10TD's 14 INT's. Perhaps that foot injury to Schaub screwed him up. He did build a winning offense, and with Schwartz as DC the Bills could get good very quickly.
  8. I agree, and no matter what happens this owner is committed to winning above all else. The future for the Buffalo Bills looks ever so bright. This isn't an owner who doesn't know how to properly run a successful business, or will meddle on constant basis. If Polian wants to back out for whatever reason, money, Marrone told him the team is dysfunctional, he wants to stay at ESPN and give his opinion over doing some actual football work. Or if he is so concerned about getting his bronze bust in canton, who really cares at this point. It looked like a good hire to right the ship, but there are other people just as smart, and who will really want the job. Same thing with Marrone, good riddance. I only hope he takes the Jets job, and hires his buddy Nathaniel Hackett.
  9. For the people that <3 rumors http://www.inquisitr.com/1719611/bill-cowher-rumors-legendary-coach-spotted-in-buffalo-after-bills-coach-doug-marrone-leaves-team/ "Bill Cowher Rumors: Legendary Coach Spotted In Buffalo After Bills Coach Doug Marrone Leaves Team Read more at http://www.inquisitr.com/1719611/bill-cowher-rumors-legendary-coach-spotted-in-buffalo-after-bills-coach-doug-marrone-leaves-team/#SHIOxSFBac2xUSLq.99"
  10. I thoroughly agree, and think the man is a total control freak. What an arrogant jackass to name himself St Doug. He holds grudges over players he doesn't like rather then putting the best player on the field. Let him go back to NYC, and we will see how long he lasts there with Nathaniel Hackett as his OC.
  11. Think about the difficulty of the situation for any new team president of football operations. No viable HC, no viable QB, No first round pick to get a QB. Probably no RB, and various players on the defense need to be resigned. Is it really any wonder why a 72 year old turned down the job. I highly doubt Bill Cowher wants to come to Buffalo to inherit this mess caused by the current GM, and team president. Yeah, it was Whaley who traded away next years first, and fourth backed by Brandon, and it was Russ who OKed that escape clause in Marrone's contract. It has been Whaley's job to bring in decent players for that O line, and he failed the last two years. Nothing wrong with new hires tho, look at Arizona, Philly, San Diego, Denver, Detroit, Seattle. The sky is not falling because people we don't know might be hired.
  12. Reading comprehension Promo? My comment was about someone worried that Whaley would take some people with him when he leaves. Not about what kind of job he did. I clearly said can he take the offensive scouts with him is all. If you want an opinion on the job Whaley did the last two years, while he did some brilliant things for the defense. Whaley stunk it up the last two years on the offensive side, and the O line was a disaster two years in a row...with rookie QB's.
  13. Polian confirms that the Bills were working behind Russ Brandon's back. Sok by me This ISN"T the same old Buffalo Bills run by a notoriously cantankerous micromanaging owner that few want to work for. This is one of the very richest owners in the league, and will leave no stone un-turned to find excellence for their team. Have some faith!
  14. I don't see it as free fall at all because one of the biggest reasons the team went 9-7 is still there in Jim Schwartz, as is the entire defense. Plus they are getting Kiko back this year. Losing Marrone, and hopefully his OC, O line coach is a blessing that most Bills fans simply don't understand why that is. His forte was offense, and O line and both were utter crap the last two years. top ten worst in the NFL the last two seasons, and both Orton and Schwartz / Pettine made him look decent. Without those two he was a 4-12 head coach The team still needs a HC, a new entire offensive staff, a QB, and either a senior football adviser or team president of football operations. I'm looking forward to whom they hire in all category's. This owner is not limited in what salary he is willing to pay.
  15. As the Buffalo Bills world turns....freaking soap opera. At 72 years old perhaps it is time to move on to a younger man as team president
  16. Jeez, if he leaves can he take the entire offensive side of the Bills scouts with him? They have sucked big time the last two years. Colin Brown, Doug Legursky, Chris Williams, Cyrus Kouandjio, Mike Williams, Bryce Brown. Kyle Orton was about the only bright spot, and even then...
  17. I gotta wonder if the NY Jets didn't tamper with Marrone, and let him know they would hire him should he opt out of his Bills contract. I'll be pissed if he doesn't hire Hackett as his OC, and hires a real NFL offensive coordinator, and even someone like Marc Trestman. I kinda doubt Rapoport's story about Marrone getting a rich contract extension, sounds like complete crap. The Bills themselves haven't even announced a president or czar, so that sounds like complete crap too. Conflicting stories, and who cares. I for one am glad he is gone as his offense stunk for two years.,
  18. Good stuff here, and Marrone to Jets might be a real deal http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/48126/doug-marrone-has-ally-in-jets-organization "Former Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone, suddenly a coaching free agent, has an ally in theNew York Jets' organization -- newly hired consultant Charley Casserly. " "Someone who knows Casserly, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Casserly has been raving about Marrone since he was the Syracuse coach (2009-12). Even then, Casserly was describing Marrone as a future NFL head coach, a rising star in the business. "He was totally infatuated with him," the person said. "You have to know Charley: When he gets on something, he's a pit bull. I know he's got Woody [Johnson] all lathered up." Marrone grew up in the Bronx and was the Jets O line coach for five seasons. http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/doug-marrone-steps-down-as-buffalo-bills-head-coach-1.9764212 " Former center Kevin Mawae, one of Marrone's best players during his days as the Jets' offensive line coach, endorsed Marrone's candidacy. "I'd play for Marrone anytime!" Mawae wrote on his Twitter account Wednesday night. "5 years as my OL coach with @nyjets ranks w/ the best of them!"
  19. My take Nevergiveup was Buddy Nix, and we have some good inside info from other sources now.
  20. I think he did the smart thing for himself. He asked about an extension for his assistant coaches to gauge the owners perspective on this years situation, and found out that this new owner actually understood what happened with the team this year. Marrone knew his offense stunk because of a bad O line, and a bad OC. Then he lost the guy who bailed him out this season in QB Kyle Orton by earning a 7-5 record along the way. He was probably going to be forced to fire his OC & O line coach, and then find a new QB. The odds of his having another winning year were slim to none, and slim (Orton) left town. Doug Marrone wasn't getting along with Whaley, and kept pushing Whaley all year long. The Bills are better off without that arrogant jerk who nicknamed himself St Doug.
  21. It could very well be considering its been two years of bad O lines. Then so many NFL analysts are saying he could have saved the #1 & #4 picks just by drafting Odell Beckham Jr. Who knows at this point. I feel he just needs an actual football mind over him as president. Nix will be gone. Marrone is gone. Hackett will likely follow Marrone..hopefully.
  22. Bill Cowher states he still watches a lot of film on games to stay in touch with what each team is doing. He is well aware of what currently works in the NFL on both sides of the ball. The man went to the playoffs with scrubs worse then Orton at QB. Both Reich, and Ryan would be a much bigger gamble IMO.
  23. And to Kyle Orton who went 7-5 with Mr Can't Hackett calling plays. Mostly to Jim Schwartz who actually went into games with great game plans, and adjusted when needed. #4 in points allowed, #4 in yards allowed
  24. Mike Shanahan might be of interest as an ex NFL HC with a history of winning 2 SB's. He did get the Redskins to the playoffs in his third season, and was fired in Washington after he told GM/ Owner that RG3 wasn't developing quickly enough. A power struggle ensued and RG3 won. Guess what, even new HC Jay Gruden says RG3 not good enough as a pocket QB. Gruden got another year, but he might be gone soon too. Meanwhile RG3 is 14-21. That defense under Jim Haslett has always been in the top ten worst the last five years, and that certainly didn't help. Just sayin. Bill Cowher would be my first choice.
  25. "Whoever negotiated Marrone's contract should be sent an extra bottle of Champagne tonight. — Judy Battista (@judybattista) December 31, 2014" I concur!
