  1. Where did I say that? The team has serious issues on offense, and I would have thought any new owner paying attention to his team would want to have discussions about the future of his team. Russ Brandon stated that there are no meetings planned with new ownership this week. Marrone went on record as saying he will meet with Doug Whaley, Russ Brandon in the future to discuss team plans. It doesn't alarm you that the GM & HC are still reporting to the finance / marketing guy. It doesn't alarm you that a primary reason the team even won 9 games just abruptly walked away, and now the team doesn't have a viable veteran QB. That the team still very much in the playoff hunt, and needing to win to stay in, went on the road against a 2-12 team, and lost. That the way the Bills lost was particularly disturbing to me. By passing 49 times against the #7 pass defense in the league, and rushing only 13 times for 13 yards against the 24th rush defense in the league.. Yet, no coaching changes, not even a senior adviser announced.
  2. I think it was the exact opposite in that the Bills played Orton. His first look at things were he was just going to be the backup, and the team had just drafted three O line players. Two RT's, and an OG. Then the Bills acquired an OG in free agency. He didn't know that all those moves would be bad ones. The one lone decent player was the 7th rounder. Then you have to think he looked at last years offensive stats, and said to himself I can work in a dominate running scheme. Then only to find out that the Bills OC went pass happy crazy all season long. Orton probably couldn't wait to get out of dodge.
  3. I realize that Marrone, Hackett, and Whaley were all NFL rookies at their new jobs last season (2013) But that still doesn't give them a viable intelligent reason to have no QB coach, no senior NFL offensive adviser, and three rookie QB's on the roster. Those moves were monumentally moronic, and border on insanity. It has become ever so clear to me as an outsider looking in that Hackett is a complete buffoon, and shouldn't have been retained after his first year as OC. Yet, here we are going into a third off season with no changes mentioned. All three rookie QB's regressed badly under Hackett, as did Kyle Orton. Whomever thought that Jeff Tuel would even be a viable NFL backup either didn't actually look at his college history or didn't care. This could be St Doug in his unbelievable arrogance. Then It looks to me that there isn't one scout on the offensive side of the ball that has the first clue in identifying quality talent. Not for any position on offense, QB, O line, WR, TE, RB. I see a huge disconnect between Whaley and Marrone in so many areas. The O line that Marrone wanted changes on and was denied, the QB's, the trading for Mike Williams, Bryce Brown, and trading away Stevie Johnson. My take is Whaley said enough of this rookie QB crap, and went after Kyle Orton. Then Orton managed to save all their jobs despite no real OC, a horrid O line, no running game, and some of the most atrocious offensive all around blocking I've ever seen. The fact that when Orton first told Marrone he was retiring, Marrone then asked him to reconsider. Then his next move was to inform the team owner rather then the GM. This entire mess comes down to not having a senior NFL "football" man at the top to properly direct the team, GM, coaches, offensive schemes. The team still lacks a defined offensive direction. Last year it was all out running, and this year all out passing. Both Pettine, and Schwartz were both experienced enough to know and understand how to run their side of the ball without help. Players, coaches, schemes. The HC was more intent on helping his buddy the ST coach all season then his OC, and it showed. The offensive side is still a disaster, and now with no Orton it just gets worse. Just my 2 cents.
  4. Good stuff OP, and I thank Kyle Orton as well for hanging in there as long as he did. When Orton told Marrone of his intention to retire, then Marrone asked him to reconsider. On #4 to #5 the OP put it rather succinctly, as he stood tall in the pocket until he got tired of being hit playing behind that piece of **** O line. Playing for a gigantic moron of an OC calling mostly passing plays every game, and someone who can't out game plan a pee wee league team. Someone who couldn't be counted on to see what the defense was doing and adjusting quickly to find plays that would work. At the end Orton must have been so trigger happy, and with such a short timer in his head he probably didn't think he had the time to make reads past the first or second target. Along with little or no run game all season long, and the star RB's injured. So basically the entire game was put on the QB's shoulders to win or lose. It must have been a tough year for the guy to be on such an island with no real coaching help around him. Now to Bills fans these are just words. But to a hard working player at his position in a real life working environment it had to suck big time to play on such a crappy team. I'll bet he still hasn't even glanced in his rear view. My favorite Buffalo Bill Fred Jackson stated Orton was the hardest working player in terms of preparation he had ever been around. Quite a statement from a player with a great work ethic himself, and great heart. The Buffalo Bills at first glance must have showed Orton great promise for him to get the Bills into the playoffs. The team drafting three O linemen in the 2014 draft, and using two #1's for a WR. Then considering the Bills ran it more then they passed all last year. The Buffalo Bills at first glance must have been very enticing to that seasoned vet. The man did finish as the Bills QB with a record of 7-5, 3018 yards passing, 18 TD's 10 INT's and was better then any Bills QB in a long, long time. I just don't get all the fans hate for the man. I'll bet he is looking at this years 12-4 Dallas Cowboy team and thinking he really screwed up by not staying with them. The Cowboys 476 passes attempted vs 507 rushes. Playing with the #1 RB in the NFL with 1845 rushing yards and 18 TD's. Then QB Tony Romo playing behind a very solid O line in both run and pass blocking. The #1 draft pick for the Cowboys was an OG who made the pro bowl this season. Dallas could easily be in the super bowl this year. I can only wonder if Orton retired again so quickly in hopes the Cowboys would pick him up again. For 2015 I gotta wonder if the Bills will finally replace the sub par players at OG... going on three years now. Find a decent QB. Hire an O line coach with some talent. Hire an OC who the players could actually benefit from him being on the team. Someone who could actually setup a quality game plan that didn't call for 40 passes or 70% of the runs right up the middle. Build a team that is actually good at offensive blocking, and one that doesn't acquire stupid penalties at the most inopportune times. I hate to say it but I think Bills fans are screwed again for the 2015 season. Whaley & Marrone still reporting to Russ Brandon. No senior football adviser over Whaley to make sure he doesn't give up the 2016 1st round pick for a player other then a QB. I wonder which direction Hackett goes in this year. His first year it was all runs, and his second year it was all passes. Lucky for him he had Kyle Orton.
  5. about the only thing that could make things worse at this point is if another team hires away Jim Schwartz after Rex Ryan takes a different job
  6. Hey, it might just be fun to watch a newer version of "the mad stork"
  7. Is the new owner so preoccupied with his beautiful wife that he didn't notice his 1.4 billion dollar investment in the Buffalo Bills football team he recently purchased. Just lost a "must win" to get into the playoffs game...to a 2-12 team on the road...with a rookie QB starting? He doesn't notice his new team doesn't have a 2015 1st round or 4th round pick because his GM traded them away for the 4th best rookie WR in the 2014 draft. That this GM hasn't brought in more then two decent starters for the offensive side of the ball for two years now. He didn't notice his starting veteran QB who went 7-5, and got the team a winning season all the while the Bills OC calling 579 passing plays vs 402 rushing plays while playing behind one of the very worst O lines in the entire league...just abruptly retired for some unknown reason. He doesn't notice his starting RB along with some of the best pass rushers may leave the team for better money. Looks like its headed right down the ceramic convenience.
  8. Guys, Doug Marrone isn't going anywhere. Whats so difficult to understand what he means when he stated "you're stuck with me!" when he was asked about his interest in the Michigan HCing job. It would take a tactical nuke to pry Marrone away from this job, and likewise with Whaley, and Brandon. With Russ Brandon announcing he has no meetings planned with ownership means the entire team will remain intact. Deal with it!
  9. The season ended Sunday, and there really is no reason to hide anything now. Russ Brandon stated there are no meetings with ownership this week, and Marrone stated he will get together with Whaley & Brandon to discuss whats next in their off season. Quit the dreaming guys, as the status quo remains the same....except the team now has no viable veteran QB, no RB, and big questions about parts of that vaunted pass rush. Other then that, its all good!
  10. Good to know Mr Buttfumble is high on somebody's list. Now if only the Bills had Chip kelly as HC, and his entire offensive coaching staff. Not to mention that Philly O line, and LeSean McCoy at RB
  11. Thanks for taking the time to post all that jboyst62 Really disappointing everything stays the same in the FO, coaching staff. A new owner with no clue... why was WR Mike Williams was benched after catching a TD after the Texans game? You judge. http://www.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Mike-Williams-We-Adjusted-a-Little-Too-Late/2229d307-9410-4b01-bdbb-c911b4607d09 use internet explorer to watch it.
  12. Great post Sadly, the purge won't begin until the 2016 off season.
  13. Welp, Bills fans now lost Kyle Orton as their whipping boy. 2015 going to be very interesting with only EJ, Jeff Tuel.
  14. I think some of the fans reaction to the QB here speaks something of why the karma for this team has been bad for so long, and will probably continue to be bad. READ THIS, http://billsmafia.com/2014/12/24/buffalo-bills-must-prioritize-offensive-line-qb-2015-nfl-offseason/ From, http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/174480-article-why-ol-is-bigger-issue-than-hackettqb/
  15. Orton playing behind one of the very worst O lines in the NFL this season With an offensive coordinator who called for 579 passes vs 402 rushes, and against some of the best defenses in the NFL *The most experienced starting WR on the team was 2nd year player Robert Woods Kyle Orton 3,018 yards, 18 TD's, 10 INT's QBR 7-5 To the fans thinking the team is better off without him
  16. It would be like Labatt's Blue at half price all year
  17. The Best thing Whaley has done on the offensive side of the ball the last two years just retired. Great news, Orton Gone, and we retain Brandon as team president of football operations, Marrone & Hackett back next year. Not even 2015 yet and
  18. Hey man, I agree, and I don't blame the guy for anything he did all season. He was playing behind one of the very worst O lines in the game, with the Bills OC calling mostly nothing but passes.
  19. Kinda surprising not more fired SF Harbaugh- QUIT!, left for Mich job 8 mil per Chicago- MarcTestman FIRED! GM FIRED! NY Jets- Big Mouth Rex- FIRED! GM FIRED! Atlanta- Mike Smith- FIRED!
  20. Probably took one look at this board and said enough This is a big loss for the Bills IMO. I gotta wonder who will save Marrone's arse next season?
  21. END OF SEASON UPDATE! Receiving yards leaders #10 NYG- Odel Beckham Jr, 91 rec, 132 targets 1,305 yards 12 TD's - Imagine, this player missed the first four games of the season due to injury. clearly rookie of the year. #19 Tampa Bay- Mike Evans, 68 rec, 124 targets 1,051 yards 12 TD's #21 Carolina- Kelvin Benjamin, 73 rec, 146 targets 1,008 yards 9 TD's #24 Buffalo- Sammy Watkins, 65 rec, 128 targets 982 yards 6 TD's #36 Philly- Jordan Matthews, 67 rec, 105 targets 872 yards 8 TD's #54 Miami- Jarvis Landry, 84 rec, 111 targets 758 yards 5 TD's #65 Ari- John Brown, 48 rec, 103 targets 696 yards 5 TD's #67 Jax- Allen Hurns, 51 rec, 97 targets 677 yards 6 TD's #82 NO- Brandin Cooks, 53 rec, 70 targets 550 yards 3 TD's- this player went on IR after week 11, and missed the last 6 games #83 Pitt- Martavis Bryant, 26 rec, 49 targets 549 yards 8 TD's The best rookie WR seasons of all time are Randy Moss (1,313 yards + 17 TDs),Anquan Boldin (1,377 yards + 8 TDs), and John Jefferson (1,001 yards + 13 TDs). With only three games to go it doesn't look likely that anyone will break Moss or Boldin's yards. To put things in perspective, Beckham had more yards then Gronk, Calvin Johnson, Bolden, AJ Green.
  22. YOLO! Its not fun to tease us.
  23. I see that he still recently posts now and again. Bill is a good guy, and someone who I liked conversing with on different subjects. Dunno why he stopped his weekly after game threads, and I miss them as well.
