I find him entertaining. You can slowly see him coming around to Buffalo. Remember he’s paid to stir things up. Marshall is the Bills cheerleader on that show. Nick is a KC fan.

Drool... Damn.. That's some high praise. These are indeed the best of times.. -

Dion Dawkins: A Letter to Bills Mafia, Part II
wjag replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no doubt he did. Have you listened to his interviews? If not, dig one up. He's a good listen. Articulate, insightful. One thing that McDermott and Beane stressed a few years ago, was selecting high character players. This team has them at every position. -

When you look at the gauntlet of games that the Bills just came through since the Hail Murray, show me another team that has been as tested Arizona: Bills get a red hot Zona team that lost an absolute thriller to the Phins the week before. Murray can't be contained. He'll scramble his way to a victory. Allen and offense playing behind after lackluster 3rd quarter. Allen leads them to victory and leaves 31 seconds on the clock. Too tall Andre Hopkins literally steals the ball from three of our best defensive backs. Crazy, season altering ending (if you read Dion Dawkin's letter). Bye week: Bills have to listen to two weeks of critique about the Hopkins play. Chargers: Out of the bye week after a comeback thriller was denied. Bosa on a one-man mission. Herbert the shiny new toy. Buffalo struggles to contain Bosa for a good chunk of the game. Herbert throws for 317, Josh 157. Line makes adjustments and Bosa is somewhat neutralized, but he walks away with 8 tackles and three sacks. He was a menace. Bills survive Chargers. Could be wrong about the timing, but I think this is when Winters is moved off of line. San Francisco: MNF. Narrative all week was Allen and Bills need some mojo. Tua is coming, AFC East coming down to the wire week 16. SF is wrecked by injuries, but they have a savant for a head coach who will neutralize Allen. Saleh this, Saleh that.. Allen comes out and puts on an absolute clinic. The tide begins to turn. Steelers: SNF. Second game under the national glare. Big Ben and his five yards at a crack offense invades WNY. Standoff for much of the first half until Taron Johnson makes the play of the game. Buffalo comes out and remembers they have the front runner for OPOY and throws to him setting up TDs. Denver: Third game with national attention. Denver and their big bad Nick Fangio defense. Denver wheels come off quick and Buffalo runs them out of the building starting in the second quarter. AFC East secured. Fans go crazy at airport at 2a. Patriots: MNF again. National attention again. Can the Bills sweep the Patriots? Belichick won't let that happen. Bills blow the Patriots out. Belichick gets booked for assault on a telephone. Josh Allen is throwing TDs all over the place. Dolphins: 1 O'clock game for the first time in forever. Miami with everything to play for. You know the story. A big time scoring defense was embarrassed. In fact their number 1 scoring defense finishes at number 5. Ouch. The common thread. Bills played a gauntlet of good defenses, some highly regarded QBs, coaches and players and dismantled each and every one of them. They literally got better each game. They cut down on penalties. They stayed reasonably healthy for this time of year. Now the second season starts. Show me a team that has played the level of competition that Buffalo has starting with Seattle... This team is seasoned for post season play. What looked like an absolutely killer schedule has really battle tested this team. Let the postseason fun begin. -
What is the second-most important position on a football team?
wjag replied to LeviF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm going with LT for most right-handed QB teams, RT for the rare lefty out there. With the new protective rules on QBs these days, maybe it is less so. But a good blind side hit on a QB is about the most satisfying play in football. Especially if it results in a fumble too. -
Oh that's right. It was the I-HC. I forgot him. I was thinking it was the OC or DC or other minions.
-
Man-o-man Cleveland. First team to lose the HC for a game. Hope he gets well. A good buddy of mine has seasons to Cleveland. I went with him last year to the Bills-Browns game there. I was treated as the "frenemy" but I have nothing but good things to say about the Browns and their fans. We have a shared agony.

Wow.. just wow. Full on crying, both eyes. Nose running.. No shame. Talk about capturing the moment and THE essence of what it means to be a Buffalonian and Bills fan. It runs deep, it runs eternal. Thank you Dion. Thank you. What a ride. What a glorious ride. Now go get them Colts, Ravens, Chiefs and Packers. -
To me this season is a monumental success. I haven't been this entertained in decades by this team. I want more of course. I fully expect a win over the Colts. I will be crushed if they are one and done. I'll get over it though as I finally know the future is super bright. I don't expect the Superbowl this year. Next year, hell yes. This year, I think their run defense and run offense is just a little short of getting it done. Will be delighted to be wrong.

I fly for a living. There are delays everywhere. Packing, leaving for airport, waiting to take off, flight time, luggage off loading, transit to/from airport, team requirements for being at a place at a time before departure, checking in, it really does add up. And these guys have a lot of luxuries avoiding TSA and check-in. It still adds up. -
Best Moments from the Regular Season

1. The TD pass to beat the Rams 2. The Fig newton fumble 3. Taron Johnson’s interception of Ben 4. Diggs TD catch that should have beat the Cardinals. 5. Allen’s no look pass to McKenzie 6. The fake punt against NE. -

What it does do is eat ~six hours out of your Friday on a short week already. And six hours is being generous. 2 hours preparing to leave, 2 hours in the air and 2 hours getting to hotel and settling in. They lose those six hours on a very short week that Buffalo gets to use productively. -

Heard a new term today. Arm arrogance. Describing Allen and his belief he can make any throw anywhere on the field. He had two incredible TDs this week. The no look to Mckenzie where he stared down the safety and froze him. If you haven’t seen it, watch again from the endzone look behind Josh. The safety watching the ball sail to his left was priceless. It was incredible. The second was the beautiful stripe to John Brown. Oh my god was that pretty. -

I was openly rooting for this matchup. Good luck. I wanted Balt-Tenn-KC to eliminate two of the competitors I didn’t want in round 1. Seeing Indy “struggle a bit” with the Jags while watching Balt and Tenn scoring big points reinforced it. You have hit a team playing as well as any team in Buffalo history. They’re healthy, hungry, honing and still humble. As a life long Bills fan I now expect them to play well. What a great feeling after wandering the NFL netherworlds for decades. -
Welcome to the off season. What happens in Vegas apparently doesn't stay in Vegas after all.

Did blowout make Sean McDermott favorite for COY?

I think it should go to Bill Belichick. It takes pure chutzpah to put that QB on the field for 15 games. He has my vote. -
In my mind, he doesn't sniff the field. Dance with who brung ya. He is an injury call up at best.
-
JJ and Gary. We barely knew ya...

A Few Thoughts About the Dolphins Game, in no particular order
wjag replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To Tua or not to Tua, that is the question. Flores acted like a typical coach in my opinion. Tua was his draft pick. He and his cronies wanted to validate their pick. So, no surprise, they pulled the rug out from Fitzpatrick. The Miami D in what I consider the most puzzling game of the season beats the Rams. And then the Cardinals game happened. The GMFB hype train was running full throttle with "Tua Time." It was everywhere. Where the kool aid was drunk in Miami, in my opinion was the H2H with Herbert/Chargers where they played even up against each other and Miami edged out a win. At this juncture, Miami looks like they can compete with Buffalo for the AFC East. The Denver game was the pivotal game where Flores changed from developing a player to playing for the playoffs. Can you blame him? But in the process, he broke Tua. In comes Fitz and he looks like everything that Tua is not. He doesn't win, but gone now is the Tua Time narrative to be replaced with the "relief pitcher" or "the spark." Tua doesn't look the same since. I think Tua's confidence was shaken. And then comes Fitz to the rescue with the play of his vagabond, playoff-less career and he beats the Raiders providing the spark that Tua did not have. Now Tua looks broken. Flores tried to have it both ways and ended up with what is likely to be the worst defeat of his promising career. He wasted a brilliant season for the Miami defense. He has the Miami fan base split between "Tua" or "Not Tua." Covid robbed us and them from knowing what would have, should have, could have been with a Fitz start. But I think we all know that game would have ended differently- score wise- with a Fitz start. If Fitz is in there in the second half, I think he leads them on multiple scoring drives. -
So, we're rooting for Pittsburgh next week, right?

To me the one game on the docket that could be a blow out (either way) is the Baltimore-Tennessee game. Tennessee is awful on 3rd down and defense. But they have a battering ram for a RB that had Baltimore DBs running for cover last year. Baltimore just rushed for 400 yards. I could see them dismantling the Titans too by rushing it down their throats. My gut tells me Ravens are motivated to stand up to the Titans who beat them this year in week 10 and derailed last year's coronation. -
Every time there is a new post in here, I hold my breath. The virus is the great equalizer of the NFL playoffs. You almost feel like one team is going to get the shaft and the numbers of which team it is are dwindling. So far Tennessee, Cleveland and Baltimore have got through the worst they are likely to see. Most teams have had some inconveniences to either players, schedule or both. But it just feels like there is one bombshell revelation to hit before we get to the Superbowl.
