  1. Well, not sure what else to say. I agree that the motion may have started, but I also think that if you exaggerate the kneel to last several extra seconds then you are fair game for a clean hit (again, I am not insinuating that this was a clean hit), especially when it happens three plays in a row. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
  2. IMO, the flag happens because there was a penalty on that play, not what happens on the previous plays. The penalty happens because the Ravens lost their cool after watching the BIlls try to stall for time on the previous two plays.
  3. Not sure when this thread became about PPP, but my 2 cents - I checked in over there when a thread I was interested in got moved from OTW to PPP. I was shocked at the kind of discussion which was apparently tolerated there and decided I'd rather not participate. I imagine that with the volume of posts over there, as well as the number of those posts which would require moderation, it's just not worth the time of our Moderators. This is, after all a football board. Rather than complain about PPP, I choose to talk about football here, and discuss politics elsewhere.
  4. There is no heat if he's not stalling trying to run extra clock. Traditionally kneel downs are not contested, but they are not also drawn out for extra time. If they are, the opposing defense has every right to try and tackle the ball carrier before he kneels.
  5. It's hard to win in the NFL.
  6. If the process of kneeling takes 5 seconds three plays in a row, your QB deserves a normal clean hit.
  7. If he wasn't yet kneeling, he was not giving himself up. You can't have it both ways. Kneel and start the playclock, or dawdle for time and take a legal hit. IN any case, the hit was obviously illegal, I am just of the opinion that Manuel was exposed to a normal, legal hit (which I would have been ok with.)
  8. The issue isn't that his helmet came off on a kneel down. It wasn't technically a kneel down, since he was obviously trying to stay up to eat extra clock. The issue is that the QBs helmet came off at all. Which indicates that the QB was hit in the head. Which is a penalty.
  9. I predict we win 9-6 in OT.
  10. This is not true, the clock stops on a change of possession.
  11. Mods - sorry I missed the other Cleveland thread. I did a quick scan and also searched for Cleveland but I didn't see it, feel free to merge or delete.
  12. The backup often will act as an extra QB coach, especially with a vet backing up a rookie. EJ could definitely learn from Fitz on the sidelines.
  13. Yeah, I'm surprised Hopkins hasn't been IR'd. I think it has more to do with Carpenter's history of being awesome and then terrible in the same season.
  14. I would bet that most of us had this win as a gimme at the beginning of the season and up until a week ago. To me this game is now a big question mark, especially with the difference in how we've played at home vs. on the road (which I think carried over from last year's team too.) I don't like our chances on Offense, especially if Jackson or Spiller can't go. I think our D can certainly stop the Browns offense, but not if they're on the field for 40 minutes after a short week. What do you think?
  15. I have definitely been yelling for some screen passes, especially during the Jets game when they were teeing off on our O line. My hope is that Hackett has the same thought, but has a legitimate reason not to use it. Maybe he hasn't liked our execution of the screen game in practice (could be due to Brown's slowness or a lack of touch / accuracy from EJ.) I think we are going to need to make use of it at some point this year, especially on some of our road games.
  16. Heard this mentioned on WGR this morning. It also sounded like they had this all worked out ahead of time in a chart, which is even better.
  17. I'm ok with it as long as he actually has a decent one.
  18. I usually dislike celebrations (I prefer the "act like you've been there before, and expect to be there again soon" approach) but I LOL'd yesterday at this. I hope we get to see it a lot more for many years.
  19. It was going to be 4th and 45 seconds, and only because we burned 3 seconds extra on each of the first 3 downs.
  20. happy to eat crow Marcell's sack dance made me smile don't lose to cleveland
  21. I sincerely hope That we will not be crushed by Baltimore Ravens eyeballs pecked out but left for the vultures by the baltimore ravens
