  1. Who's trading Kyle Williams? No one in this thread suggested it but everyone is commenting that they wouldn't do it.
  2. Hmmmm, sounds like a potential rationale for keeping Kelsay around?
  3. Absolutely. And I, unlike a lot of others at TSW, don't hate our 2010 draft class. Unfortunately, the defensive players were brought in with an expectation to transition to different responsibilities altogether, which is secondary to the already difficult transition from college to the NFL. Also unfortunate, is the injury time lost for Ed Wang and the IR tags placed on Easley and Batten. Other than Spiller the picks I was most excited to see in action were Easley and Danny Batten. Marcus Easley is an athletic wonder at the wide receiver position; if he had another year of starting college experience he would've likely gone in the 2nd round. I've said it before: a highly regarded "up and comer" like Doug Whaley would not have left the most stable and successful organization in pro sports for a train wreck in Buffalo... Nix knows what he's doing, and I agree with you 100%, the more picks the better. For the first time in a long time the people making the calls know what they're doing. Unfortunately, it's going to look worse before it actually gets any better.
  4. I wouldn't hate it, but a lot of people would. After all, Stroud was acquired for a 3rd and a 5th. But that's how trades are in the NFL, and the mileage accrued for each player factors in, heavily. FWIW, I think Donte is serviceable enough for the time being and may even improve with a better front seven. But he's looked pretty bad at times (including this past Sunday) in run support which is supposed to be a strength, and has never been a playmaker of any kind. If the Bills had a bunch of 3rds, 4ths, and 5ths those can be used to move up in other rounds. That's their true value.
  5. To go along with this assessment, how did the Saints acquire these players? They were not all drafted by the Saints; ie, Brees and Greer were free agents, et al.
  6. Welcome back, dude.
  7. Apparently the Colts have inquired about both Marcus Stroud and Kyle Williams. Perhaps a combination of Stroud and Whitner would fetch a 3rd and something like a 6th or 7th, but that's about it I'd gather.
  8. I bet Spiller's contributions will not at all increase now that Lynch has been traded. I'm sure the move was not made with this in mind.
  9. fixed Just kidding around! Typos and grammar issues should be totally acceptable on a message board, of all places. People like to feel smart.
  10. The last time the Bills made a move within the division was when they traded a 1st round pick to New England for Drew Bledsoe...
  11. Free is starting for Dallas because they need someone to start. The fact that Demetrius Bell is starting at LT for 2 years though he was drafted in the 7th round is a similar depth chart promotion of necessity rather than drafting genius. The Cowboys line is not very good, and it's arguable to what degree the Bills line is actually worse. But I do get your point, however, when the Bills haven't been able to successfully hit on their 1st round picks the fact that they have also not hit on their 4th round picks is negligible.
  12. You playin', right?
  13. Me too! It may not amount to much on a struggling Seattle team where he'll likely be a part of a committee, again. I was actually hoping for Green Bay, but it may still pan out.
  14. They have until 4pm on Saturday to decide whether or not to ask for a roster exemption on Shawn Nelson due to his groin surgery recovery. Someone else will need to be released at that point if the exemption is not requested.
  15. Jammal Brown will be 30 this coming offseason. I would guess, with no apparent answer at QB, by the time the Bills are realistically competitive he'll no longer be a part of the future and the draft pick was deemed more useful for that purpose. I don't think the Bills are winning games this year even with Brown at a T spot.
  16. The Bills guards pushed the Pats D-line around, too. The Jets front 7 are just that much better. Plus, Wood is not healthy enough to make the move to center just yet. I wish to high holy heaven we were able to acquire Wake and Dansby as Miami had (and the Bills tried with both), but what can we do. There are a number of talented 3-4 linebackers entering free agency after this season, hopefully they can attract 1 or 2 of them.
  17. I don't know, Al Davis has made some pretty puzzling moves of late... But seriously, even the Raiders wouldn't give up a 2nd (probably not even a 3rd). And although I'm more interested in improving the Bills, I don't think it's fair to send a good egg like Lee from Siberia East to Siberia West.
  18. The only way to get a 2nd for Lee Evans would be to call Al Davis. Aside from Lee's genial attitude, he's the perfect fit for the Raiders: a speedy veteran washout. They gave up a 1st for Richard Seymour, maybe they'll take Evans.
  19. They need to draft the right QB... drafting one just for the sake of drafting one would net another JP Losman. If Andrew Luck does not declare this year and the Bills felt they would go "all in" to acquire him in 2012, I wouldn't mind them taking one later in 2011. Not to be the franchise guy of the future but simply to have guys to evaluate. I really don't think Locker and Mallett are the guys.
  20. Marginally better; if you're talking about simply composing a Bills team with the players either released or traded they'd be treading water, no better than they were from 2002-05. No doubt, the Bills should have kept a number of those players (Pat Williams, Winfield, Greer, Spikes, even Fletcher although he was maddening at times with his braindead penalties and downfield tackles), but not all of them.
  21. Andre Anderson is on the practice squad. So, no one. Maybe we can sign Julius Jones? I heard he was just released.
  22. It's so sad because those top 3 picks looked to be excellent choices at the time, and even for two years or so later. People love John Wendling, though. Can't he jump really, really, super high or something?
  23. Considering both the Eagles and Packers are playoff contenders desperate for RB help and have had discussions with the Bills regarding Lynch... isn't it obvious this is absolutely the best deal available? It's not like they were offered more and scoffed at it. The Bills fleeced Baltimore for McGahee, although they were fleeced by throwing away a 1st round pick on him. That trade is not the standard for 4th year RBs. The real question is whether or not the available compensation was worth unloading him at all, not the compensation itself.
  24. It's a 6th that could "escalate" to a 5th dependent upon Lynch's performance.
