  1. Wisconsin OT Gabe Carimi or DE/DT Cameron Heyward would be my pick if Luck does not declare. If there's a lockout I'd assume Mallett may return to Arkansas as well, but I still like Luck more at this point anyhow. As far as a later round QB, yeah, Cam Newton intrigues me quite a bit but I'm not 100% sure he can read defenses (of course, his stock may shoot him into the 1st come draft time). Iowa's Ricky Stanzi looks like a Tom Brady clone but some here have claimed he is both injury and mistake prone. That may be the case but I haven't seen enough of him to really know one way or another.
  2. Former Bill Darick Holmes is mentioned as one of the players that took money... really interesting story. I wonder if this will cause any noise.
  3. If Lynch hadn't had so many off the field incidents, not only with the Bills but also dating back to college, I think he could have easily netted more. The off the field stuff over the last 2 years or so has greatly affected his production on the field, no? He had the same year as Branch in 2009, despite the age discrepancy. And actually, the Bills netted slightly more than was returned for Branch.
  4. That's true--- I guess my post is more in line with what I assume an agent might attempt to persuade the player with and not necessarily what the player himself would think on his own. FWIW, I agree with your assessment for the most part, although it saddens me that we may miss out on Luck for that (admittedly airtight) logic.
  5. Especially in light of what has become (so far) of Jake Locker's draft stock, (or even Brian Brohm's from 2007 to 2008 for that matter) by staying another year after he was already declared the top QB prospect in the nation. There's nothing he can do to improve that by staying next year, although he could stand to spend another season learning how to be a starting QB. And of course, he wants to get his degree. But strike or not, it has to weigh on his mind that he could plummet in the eyes of GMs and draftniks if Stanford struggles next year.
  6. Isn't that almost exactly the definition of being a bandwagon fan? Continuing to follow and root for your team through thick an thin is being an actual fan and not a thin skinned shallow douche bag. Go Seahawks!
  7. I was under the impression that it was Torbor's meeting based on what I had read. He wanted to draw on his experience with both losing and winning in the NFL. Kelsay and Whitner have no legitimate experience winning in this league so I'm not sure there's anything they could contribute to such a conversation. If there were opportunities for others to step up and speak and they chose not to then that is a sad indictment for the character of this roster, though.
  8. Um, yeah, but um, if this were something he felt was a significant detail I would assume he'd mention in it in his online column. So, I asked for clarification if it had been seen. So, um, yeah. Why are there so many snotty bitches in this board?
  9. I'm sure there will be a statistically significant decrease in weeping and gnashing of teeth this coming Sunday.
  10. The D is absolutely brutal at the moment (at least the 'backers) no question. I've wondered that if Luck doesn't come out if the Bills would be wise to stick with Fitz for another year, but aside from the fan base freaking out it's worth considering that a lot of his statistics have been compiled against prevent defenses. He's a gamer, though.
  11. Shades of Jimbo! I love the guy, hope to jeebus we can get him in here.
  12. Except, Schefter never reported that becaus the Seahawks traded their 3rd round pick in the 2010 draft to the Eagles back in 2009. And they also don't have a 3rd round pick in this upcoming draft, so. There's that. Gotcha. Thanks.
  13. Where exactly did Jay Glazer make any mention of "multipple teams" willing to offer more than Seattle? He has reported no such thing and I'm not sure why Florio would attribute the report to him. It's not in Glazer's online column or twitter, and the ba-dum-bump zinger "I'll figure out women before I figure out the Bills." was something he said on MSNBC or NBC the day after the trade and not in relation to the "multiple interested teams" willing to give up more than a 4th and conditional 5th. It sounds like Mike Florio is twisting what Glazer actually said and stirring the pot because he knows Bills fans get worked up and will click on his ****ty blog.
  14. It's funny that legitimate sports news sites are not reporting this but rather what are essentially gossip blogs. New England is a team that has picks to burn and could potentially utilize Lynch properly, but even if they were offering a 3rd I can't see the Bills doing it. What other team? Whatever, everyone can cry about how the Bills suck at everything because gossipy little bitches say so if that's what they want to do.
  15. Is there really a need to be such a gigantic !@#$? Seriously, why don't you just go !@#$ yourself? It would be more useful than the gutless posturing you waste your time on with your posts. It's not like there can ever be a winner in these fake conversations that total strangers are having on a football message board. Our opinions are different, and you're a !@#$ing crybaby.
  16. That's what I would've assumed, but I don't get the implication that OBD's press conference was setup because of Sully. Nor do I get why the poster implied News would "leak" it.
  17. Oh, no, I'm giving Nix and company the complete benefit of the doubt. What I meant by "undeserved" was the organization as a whole, due to the mess of the past 10 years. As I said earlier, I think they've finally rerouted the direction of the team from the road to ruin toward a stable and successful future. Time will tell, though, of course.
  18. Huh? Considering that John Wawrow stated that he was informed of Thursday's presser at 6pm Wednesday and the Sully piece was posted online at 11:12pm Wednesday I'm not sure what you mean. Furthermore, who would leak it to the Bills and for what purpose? Inquiring minds.
  19. Wow, 21 of those 22 interceptions came with the Bills. The thing that really makes his tenure in the NFL so amazing is just how little he's played over that time. How does a guy stay for this long in the league with such a miniscule amount of playing time? He kind of reminds me of Elmer Bruker:
  20. I can't fathom why Ralph would even begin to give a **** about someone like Chris Kelsay. I think Nix's comments about the extension earlier Thursday should be taken completely at face value. Good Ol' Buddy acknowledged Kelsay isn't a great player but was retained for his leadership during the transition period. Y'know, the one that the team is obviously in at the moment. You don't need to try so hard to misunderstand everything. Ralph tripping over himself to extend a contract for a role player that will probably continue past his own natural life? Do yourself a favor and chill out, dude!
  21. 3-13, somehow. A few lucky breaks. Who'da thunk that the Bills would need a few lucky breaks to reach 3-13??? It's perversely freeing, though.
  22. 4 weeks? Why would they not have lasted 4 weeks into the first season of a major rebuilding project? As for the young hungry GM I believe Doug Whaley was brought in from Pittsburgh as Assistant GM to be groomed as Nix's replacement when he eventually (probably sooner rather than later) retires. He has been mentioned as one of the best young General Manger "prospects" for a few years now, in fact, some of the critiques levied at the Bills when they hired Nix was that they should have hired Whaley. The fact that Nix brought him in as the de facto 2nd in command indicates he is more than likely the natural successor for the position. I can't imagine a better man for the job. Don't be fooled by blowhards like the OP--- the Bills appear to be in good hands for the first time in a long time. I think it's pretty clear from the way they've been handling business, from both an evaluation and coaching standpoint. The fact that the team on the field still sucks is only indicative of the 10 years of crappy management. It takes time. More than 4 weeks, anyway.
  23. Amen, Nappy! You & I is of a mind on this one!
  24. I think that's the right choice--- he'll get more touches this week, and even if you factor in CJ's breakaway ability, which makes him a fantasy threat from anywhere on the field including KOs, Fred is as steady as they come. The Jags have the worst ranked pass defense in the league and are giving up an average of 4.4 yards per attempt on the ground, so there's a shot both may do well catching and receiving. I don't have CJ but I just added Fred and am considering starting him myself just because of the ****ty Jax D.
  25. Thanks, guys. I'll just add that I personally allowed for a "honeymoon" period for each of the Donahoe and Levy/Brandon eras, but this is easily the first time I've heard a calm and steady voice coming out of One Bills Drive since the Polian/Butler days regarding the semblance of an actual plan for the future. Hopefully, for once, the blips on the radar are the treasure we're all seeking and not incoming torpedoes!
