Getting Rhodes Was Really Stupid
billsfreak replied to grammer_police's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't speak for everyone. I have seen alot of games that Rhodes has played in for the Colts, and there is a pretty good chance that he will beat Jackson out for the position on opening day. Eventually he will sign the tender, or he won't play, and at his salary he hasn't made millions to sit back on. -
Steelers fans think they can get Roscoe for a 5th-7th
billsfreak replied to ans4e64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They will probably try to get a 4th at least, but if there are no other takers, a 5th probably would get it done. Not sure why they want to dump him so bad though, he isn't earning that much, must a little over a million this season. -
Please explain how this was a good trade
billsfreak replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So how was this a good trade if he can't be replaced equally with the #28 pick? A first round pick is a first round pick. A lot of organizations would rather have the #28 pick than one much higher because 1) you probably have just as good a chance to get a quality player and 2) It is going to cost you much less to sign him. If you can't get a good player at the #28 pick, then we don't have many good players on the Bills (OK maybe we dont), since all I can think of is 4 players on our roster that were taken that high in Lee Evans, Lynch, Whitner and McKelvin. And to mention a few taken by the Bills higher than #28-Erik Flowers, John McCargo, Mike Williams, McGahee. My point is that the homework done by the organization is just as important if not more than what number the pick is. Peter's is still young and in his prime, won't require any learning curve, and is a known commodity (no risk). Are you serious "No Risk"? How about getting hurt each year. Holding out each year. A risk to get our QB killed on almost any play, because even though he didn't know it, he gave up more sacks than anyone. I'll cross my fingers they find one at #28, but it's more likey to be someone in the James Hardy category. I don't remember anyone, including myself, who thought Hardy was a bad pick right after the draft, in fact, most were enamored that he was still there to be picked. And since it takes receivers longer to adapt to the NFL than running backs, I wouldn't totally give up on Hardy yet. If the top OT out of college is taken with a pick, say, in the top 10 or 15 (and they probably will be), isn't Peter's worth greater than the rookie OT taken early in the draft? I will take Jake Long any day of any year over Peters and he was a rookie. He so far outplayed Peters it was a joke. Peters will never have as good of a year as Long had his rookie year. -
PFT: league source says best trade for Philly in 10 yrs
billsfreak replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That makes the quote even more retarded. The best trade in the NFL in the last 10 years? How about what a 4th or 5th round pick for Thomas Jones-who led the AFC in rushing last season. Almost nothing for the Chiefs to acquire Cassell and a superstar linebacker in Vrabel. Hell even what the Bills got for McGahee was a better deal then what the Eagles gave for Peters. I think we should ban all further Jason Peters posts, it is getting plain stupid now. -

Getting Rhodes wasn't stupid, your post claiming that is what is stupid-and might be the dumbest post that I have ever seen on TBD. Fred Jackson has kicked ass in what-2 games maybe? And he got stuffed at the Goal Line in each of those two games. Actually over that past week, they Bills have made the two smartest moves they have made all off season-getting Rhodes and dumping Peters. -

And wait until about the 10th week of the season, they will be saying it is one of the worst trades ever for Philly. Besides, name me even one trade that they have made in the last 10 years without searching on Google. I know I can't, other than the T.O. trade and how did that turn out-seeing how they made it to the Superbowl with him missing what the last 10 games of the regular season-and we all know what happened after that. I can't think of another Eagles trade, much less a few of them to compare it to. -
Great opening line! That is why I spend way too much time on this board, great lines like that. I like to belive I am optimistic, but fortuneatly I am not blind or ignorant enough to believe every thing is Peachy Keen and all Roses at OBD.

The Bills didn't cave into Peters, caving in would have been to give him what he asked for and wasn't even close to deserving of. They did the only right thing, get rid of his whiny, fat lazy ass and get the most they could for him. One of the few good moves this FO has made in the last few years. I didn't think I would say it in the near future, but Good Job Russ and the rest of the FO on this move. Good bye, good riddance lazy ass Peters.

Some reactions from Eagle fans
billsfreak replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is no way that Peters comes close to finishing up the 6 year deal. By week 10 or 11 of this season, the team and fans will realize they got an overweight, underachieving, lazy LT that has put Donovan McNabb in jeopardy every week by letting him get knocked on his ass over and over. If he doesn't get cut, then Philly fans can look forward to a hold out during the summer of about 2011 when he wants a new contract because he made a block. -
Strahan to Boldin: Shut up - It could be worse
billsfreak replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is the issue with the statement? If you aren't aware that it is colder in Buffalo than in the desert in Arizona, than you have been in a coma. This is a non-issue without a doubt, and a little overeaction. -
I have been a die hard Bills fan for nearly 40 years and always will be. I consider myself as loyal as any other fan in the country, but that doesn't mean I have to put horse blinders on and ignore the incompetence of the organization over the past decade. Will I be there on gameday routing the Bills on, of course I will, with all my Bills garb on, screaming and jumping, making people think I am going crazy. Look at it this way, so if you have been married for 25 years, and then your wife or husband starts blowing money at casinos, drinking it away, doing drugs are you supposed just sit back and support them because you are loyal? HELL NO! By fans voicing themselves, it maybe the only way to get any word to the organization how upset Bills Nation is, and maybe force them to change. Go Bills!

We now have extra picks-Why Not Tony Gonzalez?
billsfreak replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I kinda agree, but we have been saying for over a decade that the Bills aren't going anywhere this year, go thru the draft, but how has that worked? The NFL has turned into a "Win Now" league, with the salary cap and free agency, teams for from last to first every year. -
When was the last time you were happy...REALLY Happy
billsfreak replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2007-With Lynch, Poz and Edwards, 3 players who could be long term starters if they stay out of jail. -
I doubt he will hold out because he may play LT (he did last year, and better than Peters did), I think he has class and character-something Peters is seriously lacking.
-
Our line has sucked for the past 5-6 seasons. Whomever they put in at LT cannot play any worse than Peters did last season. You don't win games on a players potential or what they did for one season of their career. It can only go up from here, but it has been that way since about 1993 or 1994 around here.

All of you Anti-Peters fans can rejoice
billsfreak replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you 1,000,000 percent. He isn't that great, in fact last year just the opposite. We won more last year when he was whining, holding out or not playing much because he wasn't in shape. He was never going to be happy, so I am glad they shipped his fat lazy ass out of here. He put a cloud over the whole training camp last year and into the season. He was a big part of the reason our offense never jelled, because of his whiny ass holding out. -

billsfreak replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So let me see, you agree with making a tackle the highest paid LT in the NFL when you can't even say for sure that he is a franchise tackle-but a "probably Franchise Tackle"? I agree with others, 6-10 isn't far off from what we have been doing for the better part of the last decade. It is what, one more loss, that will just move us up a little in the 2010 draft. Go Bills! Good Riddance Fat Lazy *ss Peters! -
Sources: Peters to Eagles for three picks
billsfreak replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously you haven't watched a game over the past decade? Now with the biggest problem gone, the Bills can start to work as a "team", something Peters was never going to be a part of. Too many bndges were burned on both sides so this trade had to be done. Good riddance to a lazy millionaire. -

Would have liked to see more compensation, but glad it is over and glad he is gone. He was never going to be happy in Buffalo, and give him a year or two and he won't be happy in Philly either. -
You are completely right, the Bills are under no obligation to pay Jackson more than the minimum. But, they are also under no obligation to pay Peters more either, he is at least under contract. At least another team could make Jackson an offer, they can't offer Peters anything, that would be tampering. I wouldn't pay a ransom for a 28 year old running back either, but if the Bills were going to pay one of the two (Jackson or Peters) I would much rather they pay Jackson some type of raise, at least he has earned it on the field.

Jests complain about schedule for religious reasons
billsfreak replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dean, I agree with you, my only point is, is that I can understand where they (Jewish) are coming from. Even though I am not a big religious person, I don't believe in talking down another person's religion, race, heritage or anything of that nature. -

You said it was a non issue and the whole thing is about the Jewish religion? Don't back track now. -

What an idiotic post. Is your religion (if you have one) a non issue in your view? -

I am not one of them, but what is the hatred all about towards NYC people on this board. It doesn't really affect me either way but I am sure if any of you were Jewish yourself and had Bills season tickets and the Bills were playing on both of these days, you would be bitching up a storm too. There is a huge Jewish population in NYC, more so I am sure than any other NFL city, and probably not by a small margin either. I don't think the NFL will or should reschedule, but I bet they look at things like this in the future and they should.
