  1. My views of what is going to happen this season @Bal - W - I clear the schedule and drink heavily for a lopsided victory Jets - ? - I have to leave early during the game while the Bills are winning due an adult hockey game that I have scheduled. My directv fails to record the rest of the game, so I don't get to watch the end of it. Ariz - L - Close one. TT throws for 300 and 4 TD's, too bad the defense keeps leaking like a sieve @Pats - L - Somehow the Bills find away to lose this one, by a last minute field goal. So aggravated, I throw the remote at the TV. Rams - W - Big comeback win, but wife gets aggravated that I am drunk and not spending time with the kids SF - W - manage to catch the 4th quarter after spending 3 hours at the zoo with the kids @Mia - W - Back to drinking on the couch Pats - ? - Have to go away for son's hockey tournament... can't find a bar or tv anywhere @Sea - L - Another last minute field goal - are you kidding me - throw the remote again - this time the tv breaks. @Cin - ? - Broken tv - local bar refuses to play anything but the Giants game. Leave in disgust Jags - L - Rex's defense leaks like a sieve. Get blown out. TO THE JAGS - Swear will never watch another game during a drunken stuper @Oak - L - Ok decided to watch game - only from a distance, while trying to fix things around the house. Pitt - ? - So mad about the Oakland game that I decide to do something else - anything else. Clev - L - Decide to watch the game after finding out missed the Bills decimating the Steelers and if the Bills win out they could make the playoffs. However, Rex's defense does it again, killing all sense of hope. Mia - ? - Fall asleep drunk on the couch midway through the 3rd quarter. @Jets - W - Make my annual pilgrimage to the Meadowlands to watch a meaningless game between 2 non-playoff teams. Season Summary - missed playoffs and drank too much...
  2. You can't put Fred in the same boat as Stevie. In spite of no playoff appearances, Fred stands for everything you want to represent your franchise and Buffalo - a leader both on and off the field, phenomenal athlete who did everything ever asked, a true underdog that rose from depths of nothingness to become an elite back. I am not saying he should definitively be on the wall of fame, but man he's got my vote.
  3. I don't know. The 1988 11-2 Bills 10-5 loss to the 3-10 Bucs may be the worst display ever.

  5. As I continue to scratch my head in disbelief as the Bills are throwing another season away, thanks Rex Ryan (feel free to point blame at whomever you like - EJ for Jax, Bradham for NYG, etc, but any way you look at it, the defense which was top 4 last year is atrocious and as bad as Taylor looks at times, he still is doing enough to win games and is the best weve seen since Flutie). In spite of everything that has happened, the fact is we still have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Here is the lay of the land: Division Winner: NE, Cin, Den and Hou/Ind WC #1: KC (hard to see them losing more than 1 more OAK x2, SD, CLE and @BAL) What the Bills need to do to get in Beat Houston, the Jets and 2 of 3 of the NFC Least - makes them 9-7, 7-5 in the conference with tiebreakers against NYJ, Hou, Ind, Pitt, Mia - most likely wont have tiebreaker w/ Oak and definitely not JAX or KC - Baltimore to be determined Whats left: NYJ (6-5) - @NYG, TEN, @DAL, NE, @BUF projected 8-9 wins (will prob lose to either NYG or NE and BUF) PIT (6-5) IND, @CIN, DEN, @BAL, @CLE projected 9 wins (prob lose to CIN and either IND/DEN) IND (6-5) - @PIT, @JAX, HOU, @MIA, TEN projected 9-10 wins (only loss to PIT, if they also lose to HOU, HOU takes division and we get the tie breaker at 9 wins) HOU (6-5) - @BUF, NE, @IND, @TEN, JAX projected 8-9 wins (losses to BUF and NE with IND a swing game for the division) OAK (5-6) KC, @DEN, GB, SD, @KC projected 8 wins (assume DEN and one of the KC games) BAL (4-7) - @MIA, SEA, KC, PIT, @ CIN good luck on getting 9 wins JAX (4-7) - @TEN, IND, ATL, @NO, @HOU maybe 6 wins if they are lucky MIA (4-7) Bills have Tiebreaker
  6. Ok - getting real unconventional - this will only work for one series because Belicheat will adapt quickly... very simple - drop all 11 into coverage. 5 guys in man, 5 in zone, the 11th shadowing Brady 5 yards off. The offensive line can't do anything as they can't go down field. Brady doesn't run - even if given the opportunity. It puts 5 on 11. Run this play - Brady will make a mistake and force the throw...
  7. Here is one to think about - what would the Bills look like if they had this current talent, Gailey as the offensive coordinator and Schwartz as the defensive coordinator...
  8. Alright - chalk up another loss to our inept defense. Manuel was no prize, but our lack of pass rush and inability to stop a 3rd down is getting ridiculous. We went from a premier defense under Schwartz to one that is average at best...
  9. I hope you are right. Just a little worried.
  10. After watching two games now, I am starting to believe that removing Jim Schwartz as defensive coordinator is going to be a major mistake. Overall, I think this team under Ryan is going to be a better team than last year. But signs in the first 2 games is showing that the Bills defense is going to be worse. As much as I am disappointed in the performance of the defense against New England, I am actually more nervous about the Indy game. New England blew us out, yes, and Brady scorched our secondary, however Belichick couldn't have tailored a better gameplan to completely neutralize our D-Line. Credit has to be given. The bigger concern I have relates to week 1. Yes we won and yes we held Indy to under 300 yards of offense. However, Ryan consistently sent 6-7 guys and left our corners in tight man coverage (who performed admirably I must say). Even late in the game, Ryan continued to dial up the blitzes. Yesterday, he tried the same and for the most part Brady was releasing the ball in under 2 seconds, not giving the rush a chance to materialize. This type of consistent blitzing is flashy and fun to watch when it works, but when it doesn't we are going to be massive susceptible to big plays. Last year, Schwartz created a defense that created massive turnovers and a phenomenal pass rush by only rushing 4 and dropping 7 into coverage. When you have 7 guys in coverage, the QBs have to take that additional second to make a decision, thus that is why we had all of the sacks as well as the turnovers. I hope that I am wrong and that Ryan's defense proves superior, but I really think we are going to see a dropoff in interceptions, sacks and an increase of 20+ yard plays against when all is said and done.
  11. Not me... the NFL... Scares the crap out of people...
  12. If you log on to NFL.com right now and go to the videos of the game McCoy Breaks Ankles Gave me a major scare... Hopefully they fix the title http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2015081452/2015/PRE1/panthers@bills#menu=drivechart&tab=videos
  13. Don't forget... the Bills took Leif Larsen 5 picks before Tom Brady... boy did we get the better pick there.
  14. This is a little out there and would require some work from Whaley, but would you make this move? 1. Trade Dareus to Tampa or Tennessee for pick 1 or 2. (Dareus is a former #3 pick who is proven himself recently) 2. Take Mariota or Winston pending what pick you get. 3. Pick up "Donkey Kong" Suh through Free Agency to replace Dareus. The above may not be able to happen as both Tampa and Tennessee are in dire need for a QB. However, Oakland may deal their 3rd pick if one of the 2 above slip for some reason.
  15. Brown didn't play because Brown can't block. CJ Spiller has the same problem. RB's need to be able to block in the NFL to get on the field (unless they truly are a feature back). As for Marrone, he played to win and put his best people out there. I do not appreciate how he unceremoniously left, but I do believe he put the best players on the field to win the game. The reality is that if he wanted to make this power play and thought it was going to work (even if only a small percentage), he wouldn't sabotage his own future.
  16. NFL Rules: Article 2 Prohibited Acts by both teams while the ball is in the air. Acts that are pass interference include, but are not limited to: (a) Contact by a player who is not playing the ball that restricts the opponent’s opportunity to make the catch. (b) Playing through the back of an opponent in an attempt to make a play on the ball. © Grabbing an opponent’s arm(s) in such a manner that restricts his opportunity to catch a pass. (d) Extending an arm across the body of an opponent, thus restricting his ability to catch a pass, and regardless of whether the player committing such act is playing the ball. (e) Cutting off the path of an opponent by making contact with him, without playing the ball. (f) Hooking an opponent in an attempt to get to the ball in such a manner that it causes the opponent’s body to turn prior to the ball arriving. (g) Initiating contact with an opponent by shoving or pushing off, thus creating a separation in an attempt to catch a pass. He was subject to A & E. Pass Interference it was
  17. If we were able to get Chip Kelly, would Foles or Sanchez soon to follow? They both know the system and are an upgrade over EJ (albeit Sanchez only barely).
  18. You are missing one very key game. Cincy has to lose to Denver in your scenario. Otherwise we are the 7th seed.
  19. Cleveland losing to Cincinnati and Denver winning this week just made the road a lot more difficult, but not impossible (just yet). Bills clearly need to win both. The games we really care about in the next 2 weeks: Den@Cin - we need Denver KC@Pit - we need Pit Cin@Pit - we need Pit SD@SF - SF wins, SD is out. if SD wins they go to KC for week 17, which we will need KC to win This path is very possible, but would give us the 6 seed. Remaining Playoff hopefuls' games with the above scenario: Den - @cin (W), OAK (W) - 13 wins (1st seed) NE - @nyj (W), BUF (L) - 12 wins (2nd seed) Ind - @dal (L), @TEN (W) - 11 wins (3rd seed) Pit - KC (W), CIN (W) - 11 wins (4th seed) Bal - @hou (W), CLE (W) - 11 wins (5th seed) Buf - @oak (W), @ne (W) - 10 wins (6th seed) Cin - DEN (L), @pit (L) - 9.5 wins (out) KC - @pit (L), SD (W) - 9 wins (out) SD - @SF (L), @KC (L) - 8 wins (out)
  20. For those who think the playoffs are out of reach this point, please note the very possible scenario. 1. Bills win last 3 games (GB is at home coming off Monday night, Oakland is terrible and NE should have the conference locked up for week 17) 2. Remaining 11 teams win at home against AFC contenders and win all games against non-contenders and lose on road games vs NFC Contenders. End result NE - MIA (W), @NYJ (W), BUF (L) - 12 wins, conference champs Den - @SD (L), @CIN (L), OAK (W) - 11 wins, wins West Ind - HOU (W), @DAL (L), @TEN (W) - 11 wins, wins South Pit - @ATL (W), KC (W), CIN (W) - 11 wins, wins North Bal - JAX (W), @HOU (L), CLE (W) - 10 wins, 5/6 cede Buf - GB (W), @OAK (W), @NE (W) - 10 wins, 5/6 cede Cin - @CLE (L), DEN (W), @PIT (L) - 9.5 wins Cle - CIN (W), @CAR (W), @BAL (L) - 9 wins KC - OAK (W), @PIT (L), SD (W) - 9 wins SD - DEN (W), @SF(L), @KC (L) - 9 wins MIA - @NE (L), MIN (W), NYJ (W) - 9 wins HOU - @IND (L), BAL (W), JAX (W) - 9 wins Bottom line, this isn't the only scenario, but it is very plausible as many AFC teams are going to cannibalize each other. The Bills just need to win. They beat Green Bay this weekend and they are very alive. They lose, the season is over.
  21. I just realized the power of Doug. As the Flutie curse continues, the question is raised are two Dougs better than one?
  22. It appears that the attachment didn't come through. Below is the proposed Realignment: AFC Europe - Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, Rome East - Buffalo, Miami, New England*, NYJ, Jax (from AFC S) Cent - Clev, Pitt, Cinc, Balt, Ten (from AFC S) West - Den, SD, KC, Oak and Portland (new) NFC East - NYG, Wash, Dallas, Phi, Car (from NFC S) North - Det, GB, Chic, Minn, Indy (from AFC S) South - Hou (from AFC S), NO, Tampa, Atl and Austin/San Antonio (possible new) or St Louis (swing team) West - Sea, SF, Ariz, LA (new) and San Jose (possible new) or St Lous I know 2
  23. I had sent the below email to one of the NFL owners, just wonder what the forum thinks (I cut and pasted this, sans the opening and closing, so please excuse some of the commentary): I was listening to the radio last week and they were talking about how the NFL is continuing its European push by extending the London Series. They were talking about how this is difficult on the teams that play there, as one team loses a home game and the time difference becomes problematic. In addition, the owners have been pushing to move the season to 18 games and shorten the pre-season. I have an idea that may be worth a few thoughts (if it hasn't come up in the owner’s meetings). I may have told you this years ago, but have expanded on the idea as it now has a long term global expansion plan. Basic proposal – starting in 2015, rather than having the London series and have teams sacrifice a home game, make the series a European series. Every team in the NFL will play a 17th regular season game at a neutral site in Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid or Rome. This will result in 16 total European games in exchange for 1 week of the preseason. Such games will be played over a 10 week period (weeks 3-12), where each team would be on a bye the following week to compensate for the additional travel time. Each European city would host 3 games a season, with an additional floater that can be used in one of the 5 proposed cities or a random 6th city. This plan would run for 5 years. In 2020, if the above European series is successful, at that time, the league would expand to a 40 team roster with franchises in the above 5 cities, as well as Los Angeles, Portland/Vancouver and either Austin/San Antonio or San Jose. This would result in 8 divisions of 5, adding the European division. I have laid out a proposed geographic realignment attached (I have inserted the European division in the AFC to keep the NFC clean for all of the old purists). Indianapolis would return to the NFC and I have also moved Houston as they are a young franchise. The season would then return to a 16 game season, where each team plays 8 games inside its division and 1 NFC division and 1 AFC division. At most a team would have to travel to Europe twice in a season for away games, this would make it difficult for teams in the West, but this would be compensated with bye week timing. Note the European teams would have to cross the pond 4 times each. An alternative would be to exchange the NFC East for the AFC West and play all 16 games intra-conference to reduce travel time, however this would be tough to swallow for the NFC purists. Playoffs would expand to 7 or 8 teams per conference, pending if you want to give a bye to the best conference team. The end result of this plan, if it works, would be an NFL expansion into 5 very large European markets, expansion into LA without an existing city losing a franchise and 2 new up and coming markets getting teams. The ad revenue should skyrocket from the TV revenue from the European exposure. If the series is not successful, you just revert to a 16 game season without the expansion in 2020. Either way, the I would have to think that a 17th European game would have to be more profitable than a 4th preseason game.
