  1. The season is not shot yet (okay it probably is), but the team needs to find an identity. George Edwards, in my eyes, is on the chopping block and better change something quick.
  2. With our offense actually somewhat productive and our defense being inept as inept can be, we need to come up with a solution. Talent wise our defense just isn't there and we are getting run through like a hot knife through butter. Teams are ripping off huge chucks, little chunks, doesn't matter, but our defense can't get off the field. Potential solution - Blitz - Blitz often, Blitz from everywhere. The problem with Blitzing is it leaves you highly susceptable to big plays. But since our defense sucks anyway, why not Blitz. Get creative - send 7, send safeties, send corners, overload one side. Let the DB's play tight man and roll the dice. What do we have to lose. Sure teams will rip off 20+ yard plays left and right, but they are doing that anyway and we are sitting back. At least with a super aggressive blitzing defense, we may be able to get some turnovers or at least a few 3 and outs.
  3. I fully agree. Lynch is a good, not great, back and 3rd in talent on the roster. The fact they got a 4th and a conditional is amazing. His stock dropped dramatically last year when he lost his job to Jackson and took his 2nd strike. If he gets a 3rd run-in with the law, he's toast. Jackson is a better back and has been biding his time as Nix and Gailey showcased Lynch to move him. I am willing to bet the offense plays noticeably better in Lynch's departure.
  4. All the best and here's to a Happy Birthday and a safe return.
  5. I am sick and tired of people always bashing the Bills organization stating that "no one of quality ever wants to come to Buffalo". Think about the following - there are hundreds of thousands of coaches between high school, college and professional. IF, and I mean IF, you ever get a call to be an NFL coach, 99.9% of them will jump all over it because it is the pinnacle of all coaching levels and so few ever get the opportunity. There are only 32 teams, which means to be an NFL coach you have to be one of the top .001% of all of the coaches in the world. Yes, there are established big names such as Shanahan and Cowher, but you can count available coaches like that on one hand. To reach that level, regardless how bad a coach you are preceived to be, you have to be quality. For all of you people who are out working, compare it to the following - if you are good at your job, an up and comer or a seasoned veteran who has much exprience, should you be treated as "not quality" because you are not a big name in your industry? Some people just need to be given the chance and some people need more than 1 and succeed only after failing and learning from their mistakes. Gailey and Nix deserve their fair shake and should not be thrown under the bus after 1 loss. This whole season may be a throw away, but if they end the season moving in the right direction, that's what I want to see...
  6. 7. This is a great idea - for the people attaching the links, attach the content as well. The sports writers are going to pull their predictions... By the way, when we are 3-0 to start the season - how much do you want to bet the John Clayton will say "he called it"
  8. If you were to run a version of the triple option at the NFL level, you wouldn't have Edwards under center. Jackson would probably move under center, you would use Lynch as your dive back and Spiller as the pitch man. You would probably need to put both receivers to one side and run the option to the TE (opposite) side. This should put one safety and one linebacker on the outside. The line could seal down. You would run the veer against the outside backer and option the safety... It could actually work.

  10. For those who care - I spoke to someone at NFL Networks and they said 1. They are told to tell people that the games will be posted by 6 am, but he anticipated that they will be up by 1 am at the latest. 2. The scores can be shut off accordingly.
  11. For all of the NFL rewind users out there, thanks for the help with respect to whether the Scores are on or not. I just subscribed and while reading the FAQ, I came across this: New games are published to Game Rewind after the completion of the game(s) and will be available to Game Rewind subscribers by 6am EST the day after the game, except in the case of the Monday Night Football game which will be available by 12am EST the Wednesday following the game Is this a change from last year? Also, how do you shut off the scores. I went to the dashboard and it showed all of last year's games with the scores.
  12. In a non-Bills biased 12-team league (I am the only Bills fan), Spiller went in the middle of the 5th round as the first Bill drafted.
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview10/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=5489176 I am so hoping he plays up to his potential so we can shove it up Clayton's @#!. Edwards has had a rough start to a career, but if he keeps playing like he has the past two pre-season games, he could end up having a really good year. I love it that everyone is picking us to suck. It will give us die hard fans who believe more fuel for the fire when they roll into the playoffs.
  14. New Uni's have a tendancy to bite the big one on a consistent basis. They are always designed by a "graphic designer" or some other person who does not understand the coolness factor. The Bills throwbacks are proven winners. The last thing we need is the people who brought you the post-black Sabres uni's to create a USFLesqe Bills uni (a.la the terrible Pats* uni's)
  15. Scary Statistic - so far this pre-season, the Bills Running Backs have combined for 74 carries for 411 yards. That is a WHOPPING 5.6 yards per carry. I don't if this a reflection of improved line play, better play calling, better coaching, higher quality of backs or a combination of the four. But any way you look at it - If they can keep this up into the regular season, our running game will be unbelievably good.
  16. Why can't we do both. Score 30+ points a game, give up 30+ points a game and go 11-5?
  17. Hence why I don't think they will play Fitz. I think at this point, the #2 spot is Brohm's to lose and if he has another good showing this week, Fitz is done.
  18. I believe the article is wrong on this point. Edwards came in at #1 and Brown came in at #4, but Fitz and Brohm have split #2 duty equally. Also, if I recall correctly, that quote was from a week or two ago. The gamble with Brown is that Chix believe he could be "developed" into a top-level QB. If they truly believe he has that potential, they won't risk him on waivers to put on the practice squad. Thus he gets a free pass.
  19. I was only referring to Fitz vs. Brohm. Obviously Trent is playing and I would expect Brown to have mop up duty at the end of the game, just like the last 2.
  20. My bet is the following - Gailey already has his decision on what the QB situation is. I have a strong feeling that he is going to only have Brohm play on Saturday and if he shines will cut Fitz when they cut down to 75. If Brohm plays poorly, Fitz will get one last shot to prove himself as he will man up most of game 4 in pre-season. This would give Fitz a chance to sign with another team before the season starts if Gailey is sure on Brohm. It will also give the Bills more time to assess the other fringe players.
  21. O-Line will not look nearly as bad as last year. Gailey runs a lot of misdirection and play-action. Plus this line is built to run block. If, and I say If, the team is capable of running early and often, Trent will be left with very makeable 3rd downs which will only need 3 step drops and quick releases. I am willing to wager that the Bills O-Line gives up no more than 2/3 the amount of sacks they let up last year and there is a very good chance they will let up less than half.
  22. Can't argue, but going back to my comment - Omon did nothing in pre-season to show he was a real deal. 29 carries for 79 yards (2.7 ypc) against weak players is not a good showing.
  23. You never know where these guys come from... Terrell Davis was a 6th round pick and would have become a sure HOF'r if he didn't have a career ending injury. Other than Jackson (who looked good, but not this good in preseason), there is not a another player that I can recall in a Bills uniform that was both a stud in preseason AND a stud at their respective college. To clarify, this does not include highly touted draft picks who are "Expected" to be a stud - such as Spiller... Yes, but Bruce Hall was nothing in college. He was nothing more than a 3rd down type back. His entire college career he had 416 yds rushing and 1 TD. Bell, on the other hand, had 6,728 yds rushing and 88 TD.
