  1. Personally, I am against any protest by the players during the anthem as it is disrespectful to our armed services and our country in general. However, in this country it is their 1st amendment right to do it whether you like it or not. That's what makes this country great. Once Trump stated that they can't do it and should be fired, all bets are off. No one in this country has right to take away basic rights of man. This is no longer a question or respect or disrespect, but a question of constitutional rights. I am in full support of such actions deemed necessary to uphold those rights.
  2. Couldn't agree more. If they did some more playaction bootlegs, giving taylor the option to run or throw, we could've spread out the defense, which would've opened up the running lanes for McCoy in the middle of the field. Taylor is not great, but exploit the things he is great at.
  3. Totally agree. Made the same comment on my other post before I posted this. https://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/195771-coaches-not-the-talent/page-3
  4. I am not one to blame the refs for losses as there are always calls that go either way, but there was a crucial non-call on the final drive which really irritated me. On a 2nd and 8 with about 90 seconds left, Taylor hit McCoy with a 7 yard pass that set up a 3rd and 1 at the Panthers 41. On the tackle, there was a blatant face-mask which was not called. (McCoy's head was practically ripped off). This non-call was huge in 2 ways. First, we should have had the ball 1st and 10 on the 26. Second the clock would've stopped on the defensive penalty leaving us with 1:22. Instead, the next play ticked off at 1:06. This gets called, this whole drive could've played out differently.
  5. Yesterday... Ugh... You can blame Taylor/Jones all you want. The offensive playcalling was atrocious. It should have never came down to the last play of the game....
  6. Flutie Tyrod Fitz Bledsoe AVP Yes Bledsoe that low. Flutie was the only real winning QB in this era (Orton had a winning record as well, but. No.)
  7. Shoot - I would be happy with an average offense.
  8. Okay. After 17 years of no playoffs, I am now convinced that in the past 11 of them, it has been entirely the coaching and not the talent. Since Jauron, we have managed to have a playoff caliber team on one side of the ball every year, but can't put it together 06-09 Jauron/Fewell defense solid each year, offense is totally inept. 10-12 Gailey puts up a solid offense despite lack of talent, yet talent filled defense is flat out awful (Wannstedt's year being the worst) 13-14 Defense good again - Pettine/Schwarz. Enter Nathaniel Hackett - ugly, ugly, ugly 15-16 Offense again playoff caliber in spite of average QB, Rex - what have you done to our defense... 17 Looks like the Defense will be good again, but what happened to our offense (mostly the same talent as last year). Dennison is not picking the right plays to exploit our players. (reckon it is only pre-season, but I see the outcome already) I am not saying that in any of the years we had an unbelievable talent on either side of the ball, but the talent was always good enough to get 10-11 wins and make the playoffs with decent coaching. Why is it that we can only ever get one side right? Tyrod might not be great, but you stick him in the offense we ran the past two years under Roman/Lynn and we are a playoff team with this defense. Can someone please explain to me why we can't get this right?
  9. I was looking at the talent on the roster and was thinking about the following - if McDermott installs a simple 4-3 defense to allow our players to play (similar to that of Schwartz), we may have a defense as good if not better than 2014. The D-line is basically the same insert Lawson for Williams. Our secondary has been completely revamped and has the potential to be very solid. 2 of our 3 LBs have the potential to also be great. I see us having as many if not more sacks than 14 (especially with the Lorax). I all of a sudden have a glimmer of hope.
  10. At what point are people going to realize that running backs are not truly a dime a dozen (most are). Gillislee didn't average 5.6 yds/carry because he was just another backup running back. Just because he was drafted in the 5th round and came off out of practice fodder doesn't make him expendable. I stand by my prediction - NE will feature him and all of a sudden have a rediculous running game this year. Just remember, Fred Jackson came out of no where... Terrell Davis was a 6th round pick. Just because you came from nowhere and were a back up doesn't mean you are irreplaceable. MG is just on the cusp of hitting his prime. 4-6 years of damaging running coming out of NE. Our front office sucks.
  11. Another dumb front office move that will keep us out of the playoffs. Not only did we give up a top-tier back up, we gave him up to the Pats, our arch nemesis. Once again the Pats buy low. Mark my word - Gillislee will rush for 1200+ yards and contend for the league lead in rushing this year...
  12. Fact - Mike Gillislee's career 5.62 average yards per attempt leads ALL NFL running backs in past 50 years with at least 100 rushing attempts. Not paying this guy will result in a major, MAJOR mistake!!!!!
  13. I agree with you, but he was by far our #2 receiver. Letting him walk in exchange for big names in the backfield implies that we are going to come out in 1 receiver sets often (either double tight or 3 backs). Unless they go out and get a compliment to Watkins, the best skill players will be Watkins, Clay, McCoy, Gillislee and Tolbert/DeMarco. If Dennison has a clue, he will get 5 of those 6 players on the field as often as possible.
  14. It looks like the Bills might be taking the ground and pound to a whole new level. With the signings of Tolbert and DeMarco, that gives us two fullbacks along with Gillislee (tendered) and McCoy at tailback. With the resigning of Taylor and the likelihood of Woods walking, it looks like we are taking smash mouth to a whole new level. With all of this talent in the backfield, I envision them carrying only 4 possibly 5 receivers (Watkins, Listenbee, Hunter and Kamar Aiken?). This could be the year where the Bills run the veer or triple option, loading the backfield with 3 backs, especially since DeMarco can play H-back. Going to be interesting folks! Let's hope McDermott is a better defensive coach than Rex so ground and pound plus average or better defense breaks the Flutie curse.
  15. Let's just hire Kevin Kelley and be done with it.... 104-20-1 in 9 seasons and we can save a roster spot on Colton Schmidt...
  16. In spite of the Oakland collapse, I still believe the Bills can run the table and end 10-6 - as all 4 games are very winnable. Sadly if they do so and all of the home/materially better teams win out, we will end 10-6 and miss the playoffs, losing the tiebreakers to Denver (and Miami who will also miss)... unless... the Patriots win out (including games on the road against Denver and Miami). So I can't believe I am saying this... Go Bills! ...and Go Patriots? See previous thread for remaining game schedule...http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/190123-ugh-playoff-projection-not-too-rosy-even-with-10-wins/
  17. It's that time of the year again, where I try to figure out how the Bills get in. I think it is very plausable for us to get 10 wins, given we have 4 very winnable home games and a listless Jets team on the road (I just don't see us beating the Raiders in the Black Hole). Assume we get 10 wins - where does it leave us. Looking at everyone else's schedule and assuming that the home teams win comparable teams and every team beats the crappy teams. NE 8 wins - proj 12 (Wins East) - W - @NYJ, LA, BAL, NYJ - L - @DEN, @MIA DEN 7 wins - proj 11 (Wins West on TB with Raiders) - W - KC, @JAX, NE, OAK - L - @TEN, @KC OAK 8 wins - proj 11 (Wins WC 1) - W - CAR, BUF, IND - L - @KC, @SD, @DEN KC 7 wins - proj 10 (Wins WC 2 - 8 conference wins) - W - OAK, TEN, DEN - L - @DEN, @ATL, @SD PIT 5 wins - proj 9 (Wins North) - W - NYG, @CIN, BAL, CLE - L - @IND, @BUF IND 5 wins - proj 9 (Wins South based on division record w/ HOU and TEN) - W - PIT, @NYJ, HOU, JAX - L @MIN, @OAK Near misses MIA 6 wins - proj 10 - W - SF, ARI, @NYJ, NE - L - @BAL, @BUF HOU 5 wins - proj 9 - W - SD, JAX, CIN - L - @GB, @IND, @TEN TEN 5 wins - proj 9 - W - @CHI, DEN, @JAX, HOU - L - @KC We need to win and need some help. Ugh...
  18. Bills and the under... Bills are coming off a bye and Cincy is playing on a short week. Look for the Bills to win both sides of the ball. Bills 24-6.
  19. For 57 seasons of Buffalo Bills football the following quarterbacks (who have played 5+ games) have winning records: Jim Kelly 101-59 Jack Kemp 43-31-3 Doug Flutie 21-9 Tyrod Taylor 11-8 Kyle Orton 7-5 Warren Rabb 6-3-1 People can complain that his accuracy is questionable and that he is not elite. The only stat that matters is wins. IMO - he is off to a pretty good start in a Buffalo uniform and as of right now, I am a believer. As long as he keeps winning, I think all of the haters should stop complaining. Its been a long time we have had a decent product to root for and Taylor is a key reason for it.
  20. Since Anthony Lynn, former RUNNING BACKS coach took over as OC, Reggie Bush has had zero touches. Plus he is not playing special teams. Now, we are discussing bringing back Karlos Williams. Hmmm... IMO all signs point to the Reggie Bush experiment ending tomorrow.
  21. The fact of the matter is that the both of them are 2 of the greatest QBs to ever live (they may be 1 and 2). Brady clearly benefited from having one of the best coaches in history and Manning led his team, repeatedly, to winning seasons and when he missed one it was clear how important he was... Anyway you slice it - Brady is a winner, Belichek is a winner, Manning is a winner. WINNERS WIN AND LOSERS LOSE. And we are Bills fans and what do we have - a team that hasn't made the playoffs this millennium and a coach who has a sub 500 career record with no hope of changing his ways... We have only had 4 winners at QB in our history - Kemp, Kelly, Reich and Flutie (and don't say what about Ferguson - he was a good QB, but he was a loser). This franchise is not going to change until we get winners at coach and QB. I am hoping we have one of those 2 spots filled, but clearly we don't have the other.
  22. I hear that, but he wouldn't be open to make the catch if he didn't somehow create separation.
  23. Ancillary follow on. Not to make a direct comparison, but other recent players who didn't get a fair shake as a result of their pedigree: Fred Jackson - question what his stats would have been had he been the starter from Day 1, even at his advanced age of 26. Joique Bell - never got a fair shake, but did have a productive few seasons in Detroit Chris Hogan - I am sad to see this guy go. I am truly afraid of how Belichick and Brady are going to use him. I honestly think he is going to put up Wes Welker type stats this year.
  24. For this training camp and preseason games, Powell is doing everything in his power to make this team. He has been all over the place, both in effort and results. Could he be an overlooked gem from a subpar FCS school that just hasn't gotten a fair shake as a result of his pedigree? Does he have the upside potential to be a #3 or even a #2? I would love to get the takes of people who have been seeing him at practice on a consistent basis.
