  1. No worries. I did a post search and did see you used it the past. So my apologies for unitentionally stealing a post
  2. I never stole my sig line off one of your posts. Saw it on a bumper sticker. Needed something to replace "In Trent we Trust" when the trust was broken.
  3. Born in Buffalo Raised in Lancaster Clarence High School University of Albany Moved to NYC Metro Short stint in Vegas Back to NYC Metro NYU Grad School
  4. I like your Moniker. Only on page 150... haven't gotten to the point where he is introduced.
  5. you are correct. I picked up the wrong column Corrected Brees Year W-L Comp% Yds TD-Int Yds/A Rating 2001 0-0 55.6% 221 1-0 8.2 94.8 2002 8-8 60.8% 3284 17-16 6.2 76.9 2003 2-9 57.6% 2108 11-15 5.9 67.5 2004 11-4 65.5% 3159 27-7 7.9 104.8 Edwards Year W-L Comp% Yds TD-Int Yds/A Rating 2007 5-4 56.1% 1630 7-8 6.1 70.4 2008 7-7 65.5% 2699 11-10 7.2 85.4 2009 2-5 60.1% 1169 6-7 6.4 73.8 2010 ???? My point with this comparison is Edwards has shown flashes of brilliance. Will he be the next Drew Brees - probably not. Is his head completely shot - probably. Is there a chance he shocks us all and leads us to the playoffs - maybe. Is there a chance is hurt in the first 3 weeks and Brohm comes in to start - probably Will we be seeing a 1st round draft pick of a QB in 2011 - chances are a lot better than slim
  6. As I said in previous threads - if Gailey wants to maximize this roster he will keep 2 backs on the field on 80-90% of the downs. Your typical line-up would see Jackson in the backfield with Spiller motioning almost every down - moving between the slot and the backfield to create mismatches with the defense. Lynch, as he is nowhere near the receiver as the other 2 and should be used as the 3rd man in. When Lynch is in the game, I would look for him to be the feature back and Jackson move into Spiller's "flex" position, Spiller will always be the "flex". This would play to each player's strengths. Assume there are 50 offensive plays, Jackson and Spiller will be on the field for 35-40 each and Lynch 20-25.
  7. There is a good chance that Buffalo only keeps 5. There is a good chance that Nelson and Roosevelt won't make the team solely on the fact that they can fall below the radar and be kept on the practice squad. Unless either of those 2 are a threat to be an immediate starter, I would expect them to get cut. If you are Chix and plan to keep 5 or 6 on your active roster, you can make it effectively 7-8 if Nelson and Roosevelt go to the PS. If you give one of them a roster spot - only Easley is still eligible and if you cut him, he will get picked up. Which means - if I was Chix, I would expect the following: Evans - guaranteed spot Jackson, Hardy, Johnson - battle for #2, #4 and to be cut (2 of 3 will be in) Parrish - most likely #3 Easley - 2nd best chance of making team behind Evans - even though he may not start Huggins - They will only keep him if they decide to have the 6th spot for ST, otherwise, he won't make the team Roosevelt and Nelson - Practice Squad
  8. Not to make a comparison, but as I said before I was once a big proponent of Edwards and am now under the belief that this is his last chance to make a statement or Brohm's only chance as otherwise we will be getting a new QB in next year's draft. But, back in 04, the Chargers drafted Rivers because they thought Brees was a bust. Could Edwards have a year 4 breakout of epic proportions? Brees Year W-L Comp% Yds TD-Int Yds/A Rating 2001 0-0 55.6% 221 1-0 8.2 94.8 2002 8-8 60.8% 3284 17-16 6.2 76.9 2003 2-9 57.6% 2108 11-15 5.9 67.5 2004 11-4 65.5% 3159 27-7 7.9 104.8 Edwards Year W-L Comp% Yds TD-Int Yds/A Rating 2007 5-4 56.1% 1630 7-8 6.1 70.4 2008 7-7 65.5% 2699 11-10 6.6 85.4 2009 2-5 60.1% 1169 6-7 5.3 73.8 2010 ????
  9. He looks like the poor-man's version of Michael Crabtree. If he could transition to this level, he could be dangerous.
  10. The real question is - who is going to be available at pick 32?
  11. With the signing of Carrington, we are now at least on par with every other team but the Jets as only 1 of the top 64 picks have been signed. My question is - What is going on in Indy? They have signed 0 draft picks. Is Polian going to roll them out all at once? http://backseatfan.com/2010/05/2010-nfl-dr...us-team-by-team
  12. I agree with you except for the Raiders. Speaking with Raiders insiders, they are a disaster and fully admit it. They are way further away from the playoffs than Buffalo.
  13. All of the experts have always talked about the Bills explosive offense in the early 90s and the defense was often overlooked and were deemed only average, as they statistically ranked in the lower half of the league in most major categories. They had great players - Smith, Bennett, Conlan, etc., but as a whole were not that good. As most Bills fans, like me, felt that the defense was a lot better than given credit... Looking at the super bowl years 90-93, the Bills ranked (out of 28) 8, 27, 12, and 27 respectively in total yards against (the typical metric defenses are rated). People would argue that is not very good. But if you think about how often the defense was on the field due to No-huddle, total yards should not be the metric to gauge how good the defense actually was. If you look at Yards per play compared to the league, they ranked 4, 10, 4 and 17. That is significantly better... Looking at the other major metrics, you see the same thing. Points/Play - 5, 12, 11, 2 Total Yards/Play - 4, 10, 4, 17 Rush Yards/Play - 6, 11, 1, 12 Pass Yards/Play - 7, 13, 12, 18 Based on this, the Bills were clearly a top-10 defense in 90 and 92. Throw in fact that in 91, Bruce only played 5 games and they still ranked in the top half in each of the major categories, the only average year they had was 93. To sum it up, the Bills were not just an offensive machine, but a defensive powerhouse as well...
  14. I was a huge TE fan after his first season based on how he managed the game and his apparent leadership ability. After the infamous hit in Arizona, he seems to have fallen apart and hasn't recovered. (yes I know he had good games in SD and KC). Now I am on the fence. I really want him to succeed, hoping his issues were his lack of coaching and line play. However, I feel his leash is very short in my eyes. He has the talent, but is his head too far gone? This year is TE's last chance and if he fails, Brohm's only chance. If either of these guys want to be this team's franchise QB, they have to do it THIS year. It's playoffs or bust for these guys. Otherwise, next year's rookie class looks pretty good.
  15. According to that website, no 1sts, 1 2nd and 16 3rds have been signed.
  16. Done by team, but the info is all there http://www.macsfootballblog.com/2010/04/20...us-team-by.html
  17. Because I am bored - I looked back at my 2009 prediction thread: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?...p;#entry1533339 1. Week 1 - DJ decides to spread the field and the Bills pull a 4th quarter final drive comeback upset, shocking the country. All preseason beliefs of Trent Edwards are quickly forgotten and Fred Jackson goes for over 150 yards of total offense - NE SHOCKS THE WORLD WITH A 4TH QUARTER FINAL COMEBACK - THANK YOU LEODIS 2. Thru Week 3 Jackson has amassed over 400 yards of offense. In Week 4, Lynch returns to rush for 30 yds on 15 carries and drops a pass. The Bills fall to 3-1. Fans are in an uproar, RB Controversy begins. - NO 3-1 RECORD, BUT JACKSON OPENS THE SEASON WITH 425 YARDS OF OFFENSE IN FIRST 3 GAMES - OH HOW HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED THERE 3. By week 8, Shawn Nelson and Steve Johnson are both starting, supplanting Reed and Shouman. The larger receiving core has resulted in a devastating passing attack as the Bills are top 5 in the league. - SHOUMAN HURT, SO NELSON DOES START - PASSING ATTACK IS DEVASTATING ALL RIGHT - DEVASTATING FOR THE FANS 4. Bills end up 12-4. Top 5 in overall offense. T.O., Eric Wood, Fred Jackson and Trent make the pro-bowl. - UMMMM NO... 5. Offensive Line gels as sack total is top 5 in league. - UMMMMM REALLY NO.... 6. Defense finishes middle of the road - 15th overall, top 10 against the run - DEFENSE ACTUALLY DIDN'T PLAY THAT BAD IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE INEPT OFFENSE. ACTUALLY SCORED WELL AGAINST THE PASS, TOO BAD AWFUL AGAINST THE RUN 7. Bills get knocked out in 2nd round of playoffs. - UMMMM NO
  18. 2010 - wow - what a year - Edwards is named starter, Fitz get cut (and quickly picked up). In week 1, Edwards gets injured and is out for the season, forcing Brohm to take over. - The 3 headed monster of Lynch, Jackson and Spiller generate 3000 yards of combined total offense w Jackson going over 1000 on the ground and both Jackson and Spiller pick up 500+ receiving yards - Brohm rolls once he gets his groove, throwing for 3500 yds and 25 TDs, establishes himself as the new "franchise QB" - Marcus Easley overthrows Steve Johnson for the #2 receiver by week 6, finishes with 50 receptions - Demetrious Bell surpises every one and anchors a healthy line that starts the same 5 all 16 games. Bell misses pro-bowl, but wins over this board - Defense is a mess for the 1st half of the year. Kelsay and Maybin prove to be huge liabilities at the OLB positions - By Week 8, Bryan Scott and Kiwaka Mitchell take over at OLB - the defense bounces back with the smaller OLBs who really enhance pass coverage - Bills finish #1 against the pass in the league, but sit in the bottom third in run defense. - Gailey named coach of the year as Bills go 11-5 and get ousted in the 2nd round of the playoffs after beating a game Bengals team in the Wildcard. - Wood, Jackson, and Byrd make pro-bowl
  19. The Yankees do nothing but buy talent. Baseball is a jaded sport. How do the Yankees not contend for the WS every year when they are paying their players practically double is beyond comprehension. Are the Yankees a first class outfit - yes, but not for the right reasons. For me a first class organization is a business that is well run from the top down. Proper leadership is everything, as it eminates through all of its people. The teams don't have to necessarily spend money, but make proper decisions when spending. If it is a place where you want to come to work and want to be a part of, that to be is the biggest point. There are a lot of good teams out there with screwed up owners, players that aren't happy, etc. I think we are moving in the right direction, but we have been on a downhill slide since Polian left (my condolences to Butler, but when Polian left, the team slowly began to fall apart). Nix may be the first person to actually put the structure and attitude in place for what we need.
  20. If that is the case, that means both Jackson and Hardy can't run routes. Johnson, however, is known for his route running ability. What does that mean? I don't know...
  21. Interesting Brian Brohm Statistic - he completed ~66% of his passes in college. This statistic is probably the most important indicator on how well a college QB fairs in the NFL. Anything north of 60% is typically good pro-caliber. P. Manning - 63% E. Manning - 61% Rivers - 72% his senior season
  22. The more I think about it, the Nix run front office is definitely appearing to be "solid". Winning comes from above. One of the problems with the past 10 years is we didn't have a solid front office. Donahoe stunk and we've really had nothing since. Nix may truly be the key in turning around this franchise. The only problem is - if Nix really does turn around the franchise, we are going to need a long-term solution as he is already 70.
  23. Quite honestly, I would much rather have a team like the Bucs or the Saints win one than a team like Dallas or the Pats*. It's good for the league that teams like this win. Just remember - it only takes one year. Not every superbowl team is a dynasty. The experts always have their preseason favorites and all "think" they know how things will shake out. Who knows, this may be our year...
