Its nice to have someone who watches these prospects play come in and comment. Locker would not be a good selection in the 2nd or 3rd round, or any round other than the 7th. He is a waste of a pick. He sucked the year he decided to stay in school too. I wont say he wouldnt have gone in the first round (maybin went 11th overall, when I thought he would go in the 3rd at the earliest, and proved he didnt deserve it - Locker could have done the same) but he abosultely sucks and that was true this year and last. I dont see that changing in the NFL. The only reason people know this guys name is Tan Mcshay spewing about him. He ahs done that with tons of players who turn out to suck - Like Aaron Maybin and Adre Woodson (the other #1 overall QB not to dclare for the draft only to go in the 6th round the next year and who is currnetly out of the league). Only Buffalo could fall in love with Von Miller and Jake Locker. Why do I have to be cursed into following this horrid team!

http://www.buffalorumblings.com/ You'll hvae to scroll down a little to read it. It was taken from an ESPN Insider article which I dont have access too. But holy freaking crap. I knew the Bills had the worst FO in all of football, but even I didnt think they were that bad. Jake Locker is horrible. He doesnt even warrent a draft selection at all. How can anybody watch this guy and see anything other than abismal? The Bills are absolutely on the wrong course if these rumors are true. Von Miller at least puts up a good smokescreen, but Locker? WTF?
-
His problem is he sucks at football.
-
There are about 700 college players that are about to go undrafted that are better than Maybin. One of those guys should be taking his place shortly.
-
Yea I have no idea what it really is, but I did hear a rumor once that he has a 30" waist. No idea if its true, but from the looks of him I would believe it. O and I dont know how you like your women, but I believe its 36, 24, 36... But then again, if she aint 180 she aint a lady!

Patrick Peterson vs. the double yellowhead

As if I needed another reason to not want him.... I know it doesnt test football skills, but if you cant get a 15 on the thing you must need help getting dressed in the morning. I mean, how do you expect the guy to learn the playbook when he cant count to 11? Either they didnt study much in school, or they studied and still couldnt learn it. Im not sure which one is worse, but you DO have to study in teh NFL and you BETTER learn what you are studying. I wouldnt touch anyone who did that poorly - I just wouldnt. -
Where he improved was the mental aspect of the game, reading defenses etc. His footwork may have improved, but again the footwork while he throws will be equally off from under center as it would from the shotgun. His 5 step drop was fine well before he got to the Eagles. 2 years in prison didnt hurt him either. This whole debate started when I said people put way too much into players not takign snaps from under center in college (taking the snap, 3, 5 and 7 step dropws) - not saying footwork is not important.

Maybin doesn’t have the frame to add weight - note his 28" waist. He also seems to have the metabolism of 8 adolescent boys. Plus, his work outs seem to be more like a models than an athletes. There is a big difference. Id rather have him cut.

He must be a reader of TSW. Everyone know if NeverGiveUp says Von Miller then its going to be Von Miller.

Well, the way I see it the Bills need DL, OL, LB, QB, TE in no particular order. I don’t think we should let who we selected in last year’s draft, dictate who we select this year, ie we shouldn’t avoid DL just because we took Carrington and Troup last year. We are still not 2 deep at all the DL positions. Round 1 has to be DL in my eyes. (DL includes Quinn although I admit he will play LB for us). I don’t like either of the QBs here, or Von Miller. Fairley and Dareus are the best two players in this draft and I doubt both are gone. If they are Quinn, Jordan, Bowers, and Watt are still available and I like them all better than every other player in the draft. Round 2 I see DL, OL, LB, and maybe even TE having great value here. It really doesn’t matter which direction we go because we need help everywhere – but the guy we land should be a 1st round talent – no exceptions. I still don’t think QB offers us much of an upgrade at this point. We should be taking a 1st round talent at 34, and Dalton/Kaepernack/Ponder/Mallet/etc are not 1st round talents to me. Round 3 I predict some OL, DL, and LB talent as well as maybe QB/TE. The 3rd round is generally where a lot of quality guards and Cs get drafted, and while this isn’t a tackle heavy draft, I do feel there are a lot of mid round RTs out there which is what we need. LB is the same way with multiple middle round prospects. DL is deep throughout the draft and there should be good value there as well. IF a QB they like falls then its an option too, but I don’t see the point in taking a 3rd round developmental QB when our team has so many stinking holes. Would you rather have a backup QB or a starting G or LB? I’ll take the starter. Round 4 who really knows who will be left.. Thankfully for us this is where the Bills actually start to make good selections. If we are lucky a good player at one of those key positions will fall and I bet they do.

Yes, thats exactly my point. I also said nothing about Newton or Gabbert. In fact, both knocks you hear on them is "they never took snaps from under center" My point is thats not a big deal. These guys are the best athletes in the WORLD. I think they can it figure out. Im not saying they arent important, I am just saying they are incredibly easy to learn. I could teach you a 3, 5, and 7 step drop in 15 mins after we each had a couple beers in Drive 5. The act of carrying out a fake or turning your back to the D isnt the difficult part (unless of course you struggle turning your head and shoulders 90 dgrees one way before turning them back 90 degrees the other way). The physical act of doing that is not difficult. The difficult part is mental - being able to locate your WRs and see where the D is after doing it - because you blind yourself turning your head. Timing is influenced by the drop but again the physical part is not difficult. Its the mental aspect of determining where to go at the top of your drop, so that you can get your feet into position. That is true whether you are in the shotgun or under center If you hesitate at the top of the drop then yes you wont know how to position your feet, but if its a drill in practice and the WR will be open on a 15 yard comeback route then its not going to be an issue.

Chargers relocating to LA makes sense

I doubt you see the Bills fetch 800 mil in an auction. A more realistic number is 650 mil. The Vikings and Rams just sold for 600-650 million dollars each (when you figure that one guy bought the remaining % of the Rams and calculate it as if he had bought the whole team). The Vikings are a much better team in a bigger city (more valuable than Buffalo) and the Rams have a 10 yr old stadium in a much bigger market (more valuable than Buffalo). If you believe that the Bills cant compete because they are a small market team, and factor in that we have been the worst team in the league over the past decade, I will be absolutely astonished if the Bills sell for over 650 Mil. Remember, no new owner is going to negotiate moving the team until after then own the team. Dont worry guys, I just bought a Mega Millions ticket. I plan on winning the $201 Million dollar jackpot and being a big player in Kellys Ownership group -
I think you need a contingency plan for when Shepperd and Mathews are both gone by the 4th round.
-
Speak for yourself, I hate RBs and WRs and DBs and refuse to buy anything that will somehow divert my money into Ralphs pockets as long as they continue to draft them. I like big diesel lineman. They turn me on
-
People read way too much into taking snaps under center. These guys are the greatest athletes in the world - are you really concerned about him learning a 5 step drop? Its no more difficult than walking up stairs. If you can read the D from the shotgun you can do it from under center.

I always heard rumors that Cinci had a “skelton” scouting staff, which is believable considering they don’t even have an indoor practice facility. But the other day I heard on Mike and Mike that they actually don’t have a scouting staff. Thats right, no scouts - NONE. I don’t know how true this is or not, but I guess there is a chance lol. I am pretty sure that the two Brown boys (sons of the Owner) run the draft. Unfortunately they have had better drafts the last 5 years with no staff than our entire FO has had.
-
I will eat my hat if Carimi falls past (or is it passed in this case?) the Gmen. He is a stud RT and I give the G Men a lot of credit when it comes to scouting lineman. I wouldn’t be against trading back from 3 and selecting him around 12-15 either (assuming c.Jordan/JJ Watt/Quinn are gone by that point) Its good to know he likes Buffalo though (well I assume he does, if it’s a lot like Madison and he chose to attend Wisconsin, then exo-facto he likes Buffalo). I would love to add him and his buddy Moffit too.

Can't hit the QB in the act of throwing
High Mark replied to benbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL clearly wants to protect QBs – I get it. But why haven’t they made THE MOST OBVIOUS RULE CHANGE to protect the QB – LET THE OL HOLD MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its so obvious it’s funny really. Don’t want the QB hit in the head? Let the OL hold more. Don’t want the QB hit below the knee? Let the OL hold more. Don’t want QBs hit - AT ALL - (like they currently enforce) LET THE DANG OL HOLD MORE!!!!!!!!!! There – less hits on the QB and us fans wont have to watch fags like Brady screaming that his too-too got dirty after a perfectly legal hit and the flags come a flying. Id rather see that then QBs getting bear-hugged and let go without the whistle being blown (Mathis Kiwinuka on VY) because he is scared to get a penalty. Or worse yet the D getting a flag for hugging the QB and placing him gently on the ground (like that call a few years back on Cincy vrs Tampa Bay when Justin Smith slowly placed Bruce Gradkowski on the ground, then got a 15 yard penalty that put TB in FG range to win the game. FYI Cinci missed the playoffs that year by 1 game. If that p****y called wasn’t made they would have made the playoffs) I mean these rules are getting ridiculous. Eliminating gang tackles? Cant hit a player after forward progress has been stopped? How many times have we seen guys like AP or Steven Jackson run into a pile, throw like 3 guys off of them, then torch 60 yards? Now you aren’t allowed to gang tackle those guys? Gimme a break. If they want to enforce that then the only way to keep it from getting ridiculous is to start blowing the whistle the INSTANT they stop moving forward. AKA you don’t have to tackle to runner anymore just stick him. What a joke. The worst part of these rule changes is that they inevitable start to affect college and HS rules too, which ruin those games. In my entire years of watching football, I witnessed 1 player – only 1 player – get hurt from a “horse collar tackle” (it was TO). The next season those tackles are illegal – WTF? The following season its illegal in college too, and illegal in HS football the next. Holy butt fuk Batman – 1 guy gets hurt in the last 10 years and now all of football is worse off? I could deal with the NFL ruining the NFL (the NFL can’t compete with college IMO) but when they start to ruin college (instant replay sucks too, which was adopted by college bc of the NFL) and HIGH SCHOOL football I really start to get annoyed. -
I watched a few Mizzou games last year and the impression I got was that Gabbert freezes under pressure. What I mean is that when a free blitzer comes at him or a rusher is putting pressure on him, he doesn’t side step it and find his hot read, he just kinda stood there and stared (down the barrel of the gun) at the defender before either getting sacked or hastily throwing the ball at some WR that was running a drag route over the middle. That stat kinda confirms that impression, doesn’t it?

I have thought this type of scenario through before. If Kolb at this stage in his career was draft eligible he would be a lock #1 to Carolina – right? I personally don’t buy the thought that he is only as good as Fitz, I think he is better. How much better we don’t know. He has throw for a handful of 300 yard games and multi TD games and has starting experience. He could be a great option or he could be a Rob Johnson, but I still think he is better than gabber/Newton and is much less risky. So if you are gonna draft Newton or Gabbert at 3, but you also believe what I said above, then you would be stupid not to trade that pick for Kolb. Im not saying Id do it, Id rather have Fairley quite honestly, but if we were to swap 1sts with the Eagles and get Kolb then I’d think about it, or if they only wanted our 2nd Id think about it. But they wont want to do that and I don’t blame them. I think our QB will come via next years draft. Maybe Luck, maybe L Jones, maybe Barkley. I think we are gonna be drafting top 10 again so we will have a good chance.

IF Panthers take Newton...what do the Bills do?

Pray than Denver takes Miller and hope that Peterson and Amakumora got caught with cocaine the day before, leaving only the players they should be targeting anyways left! -
per PFT - point the decertification finger at Jerrah
High Mark replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still side with the Owners on this one. Jerry Jones spent 1 Billion dollars of his own money (or financed it against himself/his cowboys) to build a football Mecca. That is a HUGE investment and risk. When you figure it is not too hard to get a 10% return with dollar amounts of that size, Jerry is probably looking for annual revenue exceeding 100 million dollars. That seems large but considering his Stadium cost him 1 billion and his team alone is worth another 700 million, That’s a pretty weak ROI (less than 6% using those values) People just don’t get that rich by happenstance. Billionaires cant just turn off their money-hungry mentality. Im sure Jerry and the rest of the NFL want realized returns in line with other investments they could be raking in – but instead decided to buy an NFL team. Add in the fact that a lot of government funding for stadiums has evaporated (as it should have btw) the NFL is looking at building their own stadiums with league money, and the Owners want the players to pay for it. Seriously, let the players go find other jobs. The Owners could take all their money and invest it elsewhere. They wouldn’t miss a beat and the NFL players would be dead broke. The US court system wont rule the NFL in violation of any anti trust laws because sports have long been exempt of those laws – going back a hundred years. -
U Ga OLB Justin Houston to visit Bills
High Mark replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a realistic option at 34. I like to think it will be between him, an OT like Sherrod or Ijelana, and a DL guy like Heyward or Claiborne. Carimi and Kerrigan who they have had in don’t seem realistic that late. -
Honestly, I would have said it the exact opposite way. I think they are both quick, but Fairley showed me a lot more power and strength than Dareus did this season. Dareus seemed to move better lateral along the line to get around blockers, while Fairley went straight through them. That’s not saying Dareus couldn’t use more power moves or Fairley couldn’t move around blockers more often, but from what they showed in games this year – I would say Fairley is the strength player ala Suh and Dareus is a quickness guy ala McCoy (with Fairley not being as good as Suh and Dareus being better than McCoy) The real question I have is – could either play NG? like I said I didn’t see much space eating from Dareus this year, but at 321 he is already the same size as Troup (he tweeted 326 or whatever was reported in that other thread) and can move much better. I don’t know if Fairley will ever get above 320 – or if he even should. I doubt either plays NG but having that option is a plus for either prospect. Maybe that allows up to move KW to DE and have Dareus/Fairley and Troup inside at NG? I would like to have the option at least. I still want Fairley the most.

I wouldn’t call him a penetrator or gap filler. Id call him a dominator. He just blew up whoever tried to block him in every game – throwing most guys off of him like they were rags dolls, strolling through double and triple teams. He didn’t fill any gaps really, he create havoc in the gaps and moved the gap a yard into the backfield. His highlights are like Ndamakong Suh highlights. I think he needs to grow up a bit to be as good as Suh (I expect his rookie year to be about half as good as Suh’s) but IMO (…IMO…) he is hands down the best player in the draft. Maybe, I don’t really remember or put my into those mocks, they aren’t always up to date at that point of the year either. I was referring to this boards top DT/draft prospect. Back then it was pretty set that he was going top 2 and we missed out on him by wining this game or that game. I think Buffalo Barbarian was one of the few that liked Dareus more at that point. We could look back but its moot. It was majority like Fairley then, its not anymore. Not here or in Mocks. I got the memo I am just not buying the hogwash that is “Fairley can only play 4-3 DT.” Fairley would be a stud 5 tech end IMO. He is strong, long, is very agile and fast, and plays on the other side of the LOS – he could play well at any position on the DL (which Mayock said on air – that Fairley could plays any DL position in any front) Fairley would make a better 4-3 end and 3-4 OLB than Kelsay would (not saying much I know I am just playing devils advocate here). He may be a better 3 tech than 5 tech but he would be one hell of a 5 tech too.
