any update Flynn?

The Big 12 is not run oriented. Its actually quite pass happy (FWIW I dont think any conference is run-oriented anymore. the Big 10 is probably the closest you will get). With Nebraska leaving its even moreso a pass happy conference. Oklahoma isnt running the 'bone anymore Oldtimer! I guess it would depend on which scheme we planned on implementing. There is a two gap sceme and a penetrating scheme - like Wade runs. I think personel wise we are closer to the penetrating style, with KW and Carrington not striking me as 2 gap guys. Anyone know what SD uses? My guess is thats what nix is going for - but he was in Buffalo under Wade I believe. Who knows, but I think Fairley fits our team just fine.

Where does Kerrigan go Astro? Any chance for him at 34?

Putting Together a 3-4 Defense
High Mark replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very good work bandit. The only flaw I see is that being drafted in the 1st round doesn’t mean you are good and being an UDFA doesn’t mean you are bad, but your conclusions didn’t really focus on that. So to me, if we want to stop the run, draft a DE. If we want to stop the pass, draft a OLB. Luckily for us, this is a good year to add those two positions in rounds 1 and 2. It also looks like its easier to add a OLB or NG in the later rounds than other positions (or maybe its just the small sample size). I say take the best 5 tech at 3, and hopefully a good rusher like Kerrigan, Houston, or Ayers at 34. I think Moats is good and could easily be half of that equation. Maybe, if teams truly don’t draft NGs that high, P Taylor would be there at 34 (still a good pick IMO. I heard on NFLN a few weeks back some teams thought he was athletic enough to play 5 tech. maybe that’s where he ends up?) Obviously there are lots of options. -
The difference is that while those late-first round picks were riding the pine, the Steelers were winning Superbowls. The Bills top 10 picks havent been able to play on the worst team in the league. Timmons, Woodley, Hood, they would have been our best players the past few years, and they barely started on the Steelers.

buffal bills on espn are about to be on
High Mark replied to mjohns85's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Im sorry, but Maybin was never good. He didnt start in college. He may have had a few sacks by going unabated to the QB, but he was beat like a rag doll on the other 65 snaps a game. It has nothing to do with effort. He was just never any good. Its just more proof the McShay and the Bills dont have the slightest clue. -
R.Rich's mock draft round 1, BILLS on the clock
High Mark replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry man, I blew it. I was supposed to vote for Denver but didnt know when I was on the clock -
Yea seriously, Locker just stinks. If you watch his games you can see it (assuming you know what to look for). If you listen to Todd McShay and read about him on internet message boards you probably can’t. Icansleepdead may be onto something. I can see the Bills drafting Locker(doh!), Bellicheat is prob doing some reconnaissance.

And people try and tell me I couldn’t do better lol. A $10 draft magazine and walterfootball rankings could do better. hahahahaha. I only expect it to get worse with Miller and Locker being reported in rounds 1 and 2

Hahahaha i remember that inteview like it was yesterday. Very good point. Or it shows they take whoever Ralph thinks is the best player: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/04/23/ralph-wilson-rips-tim-tebow-pick-denver-panicked/

Two of those guys in 2010 are actually LBs. And Maybin under no circumstances should be counted as a lineman. He is built more like a DB! Considering the lines takes up 35-40% of the starting 22, you would think a proportionate % of draft picks would be used on the position. thats 5-6 lineman in the past 2 years. We are still below that.

The Bills are ass-backward ass hats. They take a guy because they are worried about another team taking him because another safety went already? They say how valuable a safety who can cover is – then draft one that cant. Then they reach for a NG who is quick? All the while passing over a 350# behemoth who is quick. The Bills would get from Buffalo to California by flying East

Another reason why we should pick...
High Mark replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did anyone catch Cam Jordan on ESPN last night? He had a short interview with Trey Wingo. They asked him if he preferred a 4-3 or 3-4, he obviously said it didnt matter to him. He said he played in both types of 3-4s (a 2 gap role and a more penetrating role) and said he was prepared to play in every front. This is something I havent really heard in the media, I didnt know Cal played in a 3-4 that much, but I guess they do. He also mentioned that he is still attending classes to graduate - which I dont think a lot of players do once they know they are 1st round picks (studying pre-law or Law studies or something) Other than that nothing noteworthy was discussed, but I was still impressed with him. He was wearing a suit and tie (not a flat brim had and gold chains/gold teeth like so many of these guys nowadays) and was clean cut (no Maybin haircut, no tattoos showing). He is very well spoken and mature, he is obviously an intelligent guy and Ill bet dollars to donuts he is a captain of whatever team he ends up on( eventually). If anyone has ever met G Wilson or heard him speak they are a lot alike. If intelligence and character are any types of concerns he passes with flying colors. We need guys who are like him a man amongst boys on and off the field. I am beginning to think that he may be the best player for US in the draft. -
Judge orders players, owners back to mediation
High Mark replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
what happens if/when the NFL owners say "we have to make X amount of dollars and we simply wont pay you more than that" and that isnt good enough for the players. Do they just start the league over again with scab players? Can they not do that? I guess I dont know what the hold up is. Why cant the NFL owners set their own rules however they want then let the players strike if they dont like it? there is no CBA... -
I heard he was in a meth lab somewhere in the Oklahoma panhandle

I read your entire post and agree with you 100%, until you got to the list of the 2nd rounders (I still dont like Coztanza or Solder and Im not a fan of adding a QB at 34 either) I have always agreed with the things you say about guys its obvious you know what you are talking about. I would feel better about this upcoming draft if you were running the draft than the cronies we have in there (not saying much, but still a compliment ). I will volunteer for your staff and would also strongly recommend tgreg. My bet is we three could outdraft the Bills staff PS: wanna throw up your big board- if you have one?

Looking at the QBs in this draft I only really like Dalton and Kaepernake. Dalton in the 2nd and Kaep in the 3rd, although our picks in those rounds are likely too high for those guys to me. I guess I wouldn’t mind Newton at 3 but too much of a risk, I doubt he “makes it”. I don’t think Ponder has any trait to really drool over. He seems to hesitate on his reads, he definitely doesn’t anticipate anything. I cant see him going that (34th) high. I’m thinking late 3 would be the earliest he goes off the board. This is not a good QB year, the strength of the class is those mid-round guys that are all kind “meh”

"Buffalo is a black hole of draft information "
High Mark replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmm, I took black hole to mean they don’t know what they are doing. -
Bills will go all O with picks 1, 2 and 3.
High Mark replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love round 2 and 3. -
That chart is laughable. Think about it in a real life scenario. Is the player we draft at 3 really a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round pick better than the player we could take at 9? If N Suh was sitting there - maybe. But not this year. There isnt a player nearly that good. This year, moving back a mere 6 spots isnt worth all those picks. for team like Buffalo, a 2nd and 4th would be great compensation.

Lets just say you are Buddy Nix
High Mark replied to DreamOnDan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Im hoping we use Wanny's insight with Pitt and can add Romeus. He has a very big frame and could really beeef up and be a good 5 tech. We could get him a few rounds later than if he hadn't been injured. -
I wouldnt touch Mallet, and I doubt Buffalo will either. Well documented accuracy problems. Well documented decision making problems. Wasn't Gailey just quoted saying accuracy and decision making are the two most important qualities he looks for in QBs? Yes, he was. Add in alledged drug use and what I will call a 'ryan leaf' personality, and you should be apssed on on draft day. Levi was on our team, then got cut. They didn't put him on the PS, they cut him. Once cut - no other team picked him up. No other team put him on their PS. That tells me that all 32 NFL teams don't think he is NFL worthy. When we cut Trent, they brought him back in. I think the only reason was familiarity with the system - they didnt want to bring in a new QB a couple weeks into the season. Snead had already graduated when he came out. He would have had to start grad school to stay for his 4th year of eligibility. He was also never any good. He, Andre Woodson, and Jake Locker are all victims of McShays scouting skills and loud mouth. We would have never heard of any of those guys if not for him chatting them up. Their play just never warrented the attention.

Quinn visited the Ravens who are picking #26
High Mark replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldnt be suprised if Quinn fell all the way into the 20s, maybe even to 26. Not because he isnt good, but because he missed an entire year. So did Dez Bryant. Dez Bryant was a top 5 player on everyones board, and he fell into the 20s. Their suspensions where very similiar and not terrible charactor flaw/red flag type of suspensions (dez lying about chillen with Deon and Quinn accepting free airfare and lodging to train at some gym) Just with that its not hard to see Quinn fall in a similiar scenario. Quinn also had, and I believe still has, a benign brain tumor. That will likely take him off a few teams boards completely - which you hear about teams doing quite often. -
Same here. I still want a white throwback ( I have wanted one since they came out, but China doesnt make KWs or Woods, which are the only two jerseys worth having IMO) and hopefully I will be buying a Fairley, Dareus, Jordan, Watt, Carimi, Taylor or Quinn once the season does kick off. I may get one of the new ones if they are sweet but unlikely.
