This assumes that each players chance of success is equal. I would say a guy like Cam Jodarn has a 90% chance of being a very good starter, while a guy like Newtons is more like 30%. Its gotta be 60% or more for me to gamble on a QB.

Poll on whether Fitz is the right guy or not
High Mark replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we need to have a once in a dacade type defense, and get lucky, to win with Fitz. That means we need 8-10 new defensive starters, and retaining some OK starters as backups. We also need new defensive coaches and a better running game. that said I think Fitz is a better option than drafting one this year. -
R.Rich's mock draft round 2 BILLS on the clock
High Mark replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dont get me wrong, after Dareus, our DL is pretty good. I would like a great rush LB or an interior pressence, but I dont see one here. Houston, Wilson, Reed, they are all pretty good, just not good enough here. I sprint to the podium for Taylor, who likely will go between 17-30. I also go T before LB here. Ijelana or Sherrod or whoever is left, will start at RT for us day one. RT was a huge anchor our O was dragging all year. But, I still think we lack a true NG. Troupe could be that guy, but we need two guys like that, because a 330# man cannot play all game. At this point NG wins out on the talent that is available. -
If we draft a non need please be Peterson
High Mark replied to 95altima12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we take Peterson I see him starting at S. Id rather see Julio Jones. He isnt as flashy as Green but he is a big physical guy who goes over the middle and blocks well in the run game. I dont see that out of Green. I like Jones more. -
Except Locker was terrible last year.

My thought is, after teh draft, all the rookie wont want a cap and they will be able to take part in the negotiations. Prior to the draft, they shouldnt be able to have much input (thay arent in the NFL yet). Because everyone is selfish, I feel the middle ground will be to allow a rookie cap, starting next year.

R.Rich's mock draft round 2 BILLS on the clock

Phil taylor is still there? Sprint to the podium Buddy! At RT would be my only other consideration. -
1. I dont know if high draft picks would get MORE valuable, I think they are already over valued. I think you will jsut see more trades go down. 2. Regardless if they draft Miller, Maybin is the worst pick the Bills have made since Mike WIlliams, probably even worse. 3. We truely cannot draft. Last year wasnt must better at the top. Who knows if it will be better this year. 4. Unless there is a CBA, there may not be a draft next year. That possibilty will keep teams from trading for future picks IMO 5. I thought there were reports that they wanted to resign Poz but couldnt because of some 30% rule? 6. DE, maybe even NG. Kinda reminds me of Raji. 7. No to Coztanso, YES to Carimi. I dont wanna trade up though, we need the picks.

Miller and Costanzo down 3, Cam Jordan up 3

Well I made this post more as a joke than anything but actually got some pretty good response. Im fairly certain we will be getting close to that top pick regardless of how hard we try to win or lose, especially depending on how this draft goes. Call me negative but I dont expect us to add many good players early in this draft, and if we are lucky/unlucky enough have the top pick next year, I wouldnt have any confidence in our FO to even draft Luck. I think they would pass on him.

4th Annual Reddy Freddy Draft Contest
High Mark replied to Reddy Freddy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Von Miller Jake Locker Chris Hairston (OT from Clemson, who is a close winner over Terrell McClain) My guess is the Bills trade up for Locker, using their 2nd and 3rd to do it (they tend to trade back into late round 1, or at least try to, every year). But thats not part of the contest. My guess is those 3. -
Are you saying the Fairley is a bad talent, or he wont make it on work ethic/motivation? IF its his talent you don’t like, what makes you think it doesn’t translate to the NFL?

NFLN 's Jamie Dukes calls Ryan Mallet a Wigger
High Mark replied to DaveinElma's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For the record my comment was not serious, just playing devils advocate. Everyone needs to lighten up. Like this whole Kobe thing – really? He was visually upset and said a word – big whoop. That word has many different meanings, just like the word bar, which could mean pipe, drinking establishment, geographical feature, level of accomplishment (ie bar exam), musical measurement or ban. I believe it is also a unit of measurement. Kobe’s word could mean homosexual, bundle of sticks, or a**hole/jerk, among others. -
I’ve thought all along that Fairley was the best player in this draft, but never really thought the Bills would be interested. I won’t fault him for missing a flight (coulda been a multitude of reasons) but if he is skipping meetings with teams and showing up late without legit reasons I wouldn’t draft him either. Us fans being on the outside looking in can only speculate, but if he is a meeting skipper Im passing. Too bad we'll never know the truth before draft day!

I always thought he looked like the one teacher from South Park mmmmk. I also think he was forced to make up some kind of news for his spot on ESPN.

"Buffalo will run to the podium if Newton is there" - John Clayton on ESPN circa 9:15pm, 4/14/11 He also said that Gabbert is our leading canidate for our pick, followed by Von Miller. The Bills are expecting Newton to be gone. I figured most didnt see this as the Sabres are on right now.

High Mark replied to DaveinElma's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a racist pig. how can he go on air and say such things? He needs to be reprimanded immediately. NFLN should fire him and demand an apology. I cant sit around and take offense to such things. Embarrassing. -
Even if he doesnt have the burst he once had, I still think he could be a viable option at Inside LB. He ahs the size and awareness, and his lack of explosion wouldnt hurt him so badly. You dont have the kind of success he had by just being a freak of nature - he understands the game.

Buffalo tax payers pick up ahuge tab due to lockout
High Mark replied to erynthered's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They always talk about the lease the team has with the city. Well, lease implies rent. Does anyone know what they pay? do they pay rent at all? I sure hope they do, and if they do, it should be more than any maintenance costs. -
Has NeverGiveUp...."Given up"?
High Mark replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe we can ask a different way: We know you stated they liked Von Miller – what about some of the other guys they have reportedly like, like Cam Jordan or Jake Locker? Moreso – are there any players they don’t like and should cross off our wish list? Let us know NGU, I can’t take the suspense. -
some interesting commments in PFW audibles
High Mark replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man, every thread seems to turn into a Von Miller thread. Must be NGUs fault for saying thats who we were taking. I hate everyone talking numbers. he was 237 at the Sr Bowl, 246 at the combine, 250 now… big whoop. He never played at those weights. Maybin skyrocketed to 250 too. I dont really care what his weight it. I dont care what his short shuttle was, or his vertical or anything. How did he play on the field? IMO, he simply didnt hold up vrs college offensive lineman, or even college tight ends, for me to have any kind of confidence in him. This isnt because I watched 2 or 3 youtube clips, but because I watched complete games, v Texas in 09 and 10, v Nebraska, and the Cotton Bowl v LSU were I watched him exclusively while LSU was on O (I wasnt impressed with Peterson at all in that one either BTW) I didnt see him fight off any blocks while rushing the passer. If he didnt beat the OT flat out by a combination of speed and timing the snap he got zero pressure (this is where the Maybin comparison comes in, I saw the exact same thing with Maybin coming out which is why I knew yes knew he was a total bust before the draft) My point is, if you cannot at least compete physically with an offensive tackle, you simply will never beat him in the NFL. If that were not true, then super fast DBs like McKelvin would lead the league in sacks. But these guys cant beat an NFL LT around the corner to the QB, but slower guys like Jared Allen and Richard Seymour can. If you dont have a minimum threshold of physicality then you cannot generate a regular pass rush. I dont believe Miller is at that minimum threshold, and I am not taking him at 3 *hoping* he can get there. Unlike Maybin, Miller is a much better athlete (not a straight line runner like Maybin) and is very good at diagnosing plays, where Maybin hasnt a clue. He is amazing in space, making very good open field tackles, one of the best I have seen at any level. I would also assume he would be good in pass coverage because of his natural abilities, although he was rarely asked to do it in college. But, he doesnt give 100% effort during games. People are scared off by Fairley for taking plays off (which I never really noticed) why arent they talking about Miller doing it? Thats a big red flag for me. In my honest assessment of Miller, I would say he is not scheme diverse. Regardless of his weight, college stats, and combine numbers, I do not believe he projects to a good rush LB. I dont think he fits the 3-4 at all, because he cannot take on blockers or be a successful rusher because he lacks necessary physicality (again my assessment). If you cant do those two things then you shouldnt play in a 3-4 (which is what Nix has said they are drafting for long term) I dont think Miller projects to 4-3 SAM LB either because again I think he lacks physicality and the ability to take on blocks head on and turn runners back inside (a skill Ellison never figured out and one that Moats does very well). I also dont see him as a 4-3 MIKE because he doesnt naturally play down hill, or attack the LOS. Inside he would have to take on some blockers still, something I want to avoid with Miller. I think he is a read and react type guy with great athleticism. When a blocker gets a hat on him I think he will be screwed. To me, his best position, and the only one he will be successful in, is a WILL LB in a 4-3. This is because this role, more than any other, will allow him to use his great attributes (athleticism, ability to diagnose plays, open field ability) and hide his major weaknesses (lack of physicality, inability to fight off blockers once engaged, and inability to hold up at the point of attack aka arm extensions, anchoring, whatever you want to call it). In this role he should have extra D lineman in front of him that majority of the time keeping lineman off of him, and will allow him to be a chase down LB rather than one who is in the scrum getting bowled over. Ended up being a much longer post than I anticipated, but its just my honest assessment. I dont want to start any new arguments, I have had enough debating this guy, but hopefully other can see where I come from. -
Bills will be on the clock on ESPN Friday (i think, Cards were on tonight and Bungles on tom) around 715
