Maybe the stadium could be inter-twined with a new hydro-electric plant that not only powers the stadium, but creates an additional for of revenue? You may be able to get some federal grants to go green too! Lets make it shovel ready!!! Honestly its not a bad idea and I have heard it tossed around before. I always kinda assumed that the next stadium would be built in Lancaster near that race track. It would be close to the Thruway and cut about a half hour off the commute for Rochester fans – which I think would really bring a lot more fans from the East. Add in the bonus of no traffic getting home and I think a lot more people would go to games (an hour and a half drive home after a solid hour in traffic sucks for Rochester fans) It would still be roughly the same drive for the Canadian crowd I believe. That also the cheapest land/development site and maybe the only space large enough for the stadium and parking. They could maybe put in some shops like that patsies or GB did. Just thinking out loud.

I don’t think much of it was knee jerk, but my 90% estimate im sure is a bit high. There is a good 5-6 week lead up to that title game and a lot of that talk was before the game – so obviously it couldn’t be influenced by it because it pre-dated it. After the game everyone did jump on his bandwagon though – but for good reason. Id like to have people get behind a draft pick after a GAME, rather than after a combine workout or pro day. IMO post combine is when Dareus over-took Fariley. I think that 99% of that is because Dareus weighed in at 320 and Fairly 290 something, because they were both equally impressive in the drills.

Please insert an “in my opinion” before every post I ever post from now on. I don’t want to be bothered to type it every single post from here on out so this post will supplement the need to type it in every post I have from now on. Problem Solved! PS: I absolutely did KNOW with 1000000000000000000000000000000% conviction that Aaron Maybin was going to be a giant bust. Maybe I SHOULD be collecting that NFL paycheck!!!!!!!!!!!! +11112123423154124512345123462487947835678465

Defensive scheme and the talent on the roster
High Mark replied to Dexter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would have to disagree that troupe is our 2nd best D Lineman. I think Troup struggled a lot throughout the season. I rarely if ever saw him double teamed when the normal blocking assignments wouldn’t have called for it (in a combo block scenario, like running a dive play to side where Troupe is in the A gap.), and I saw him pushed around by 1 blocker far too often. That said, Edwards definitely outplayed him before being injured, and IMO Carrington did too although his playing time was very limited. I am hoping Troupe gets stouter but I cant say I have too much confidence (how many recent Bills draft picks have panned out after a sub-par rookie year?). I know a lot of posters have the expectation that every draft pick will magically turn into an all pro once they “develop”, but odds are that won’t happen. I am not giving up on Troupe, I just don’t think we should put all our eggs in his basket, AND I think we need two true NGs to run a 3-4 anys. I don’t think KW is that true NG. I think he is better suited for DE and the Bills would benefit from moving him to DE. So to answer your question – yes I think the combo of Troupe and KW would be better suited for a 4-3. I think our LBs are better suited for a 4-3. I think this draft is better suited for a 4-3. I think we are moving to a 3-4, and I think KW should be an end in that scheme. Buddy Nix said he wants two new DEs for next season. Well one should be either Fairley or Dareus and the other should be KW. Find a true, 330lb + NG either in the draft for FA that can play over the nose WITH Troupe, not in place of him. We will then be 2 deep at all three DL positions (which is what you want anyways). KW ----------- Troupe ------------ Edwards Carrington ---- Draft Pick/FA --- Fairley/Dareus S. Johnson ---- KW (3rd downs) Please don’t give me that “We are OK on the DL” or “Our NGs are service=able” argument. At some point we are going to have to be GREAT if we want to make the playoffs or get this – Win the Super Bowl. Why not build a GREAT team instead of skating by on mediocrity? It all starts up front and this is the draft to do it. -
I fell the exact same way. I rarely change my opinion on a player after the season is over, and at the end of alst season Id say 90% had Fairley as far and away better. I still feel that he is the better of the two, and I hope thats who we get. If he is gone, my second option is Dareus, so it is close, but Fairley is better.

Adam Schefter calls Bills visionaries
High Mark replied to Aloha22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No they haven't. They may run similiar passing plays, but they dont have the QB run it 15+ times a game with a zone read play, or have 98% of their plays come from the shot gun formation. -
Well, I dont think that any team is going to "blackball" Miller because of the lawsuit as the article speculates. But dont the Bills have a history of not drafting players they have for visits? Or is that players they have a meeting with at the combine? I know there is some kind of trend out there like that, in this case I hope it continues.

I doubt Miller plays any end ever. I actually think he has a shot at being a good pro as a 4-3 Will though. Still way to high at 3 but I don’t think he will be terrible in a 4-3 -

Funny Buddy Nix Links + Rd 1 Pick
High Mark replied to iLikeChix's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its the third overall pick in the draft. This guy should be dominant in all phases and have an immediate impact at one of the games most crucial positions. He should be quicker, faster, stronger, bigger, and better at football than everyone else who plays their position not just in college, but most of the guys in who are in the NFL already. Thinking in those terms, the only argument for not taking Dareus or Fairley is that they are both gone by pick 3. -

I cant listen at work – what is the context of the remark? Was it CBA related regarding Ralph and him voting down the 2006 CBA vote? Or was it regarding Gailey wanting to move toward mobile QBs and be “A step ahead of the curve”? I suspect that Gailey is building a full-bore spread offense team. I honestly don’t know why other teams haven’t done it already, and am excited by the thought of it. You would think that if passing from the shotgun and bubble screens are easy for offenses to use to gain yard, they would do it more. The pats have been doing it this entire millennium and people think they are super geniuses – it’s just drag routes and screen passes!!!!!!!!!!!! Time to build a whole offense around it. -
I saw Fairley then Carimi then instantly voted A. I didnt even have to look at the others because it could not get better than that. Then when I looked again we get Mason Foster and that 6'5'' 350# NG guy - sweet.

Veterans Show Bills Type Character

Florence is one of the best players on the team. I am suprised the Bills havnt resign him already - but I guess ti could be due to teh CBA. Regardless, if he isnt back next year, itll be another huge blunder by this team. -
Anyone think the NFLPA messed up?
High Mark replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder who watches teh TV? And the Billionaires are still billionaires without football. I think there is a stat that the average NFL player is dead broke 3 years after retirement. Thats a disgrace. No wonder they want more money - and no wonder why the Owners dont want to give them more. -
Fairly.

Well-Thought-Out CBA Negotiation Article
High Mark replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now that the union doesn't exist - cant the NFL start paying the players whatever they want? Like this years rookies? I know they will have to honor their existing contracts, but new contracts really dont have any bargaining power. The NFL can establish a rookie scale and force the players to abide. Change the rules to give teams 4 years of rights to all draft picks, rather than 1. I also dont buy the anti trust lawsuit. All teams are in fierce competition with each other. no different than directTV v Time Warner V Dish Network IMO. -
Vikes Looking Into the Possibility Of Trading Up...
High Mark replied to BiggieScooby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A 1st round pick next year will be discounted a round - to a 2nd round pick (about 460 points). Thats become standard practice really. Like Carolina trading future 1st for current 2nds every other year. Me personally, I would trade back to 12 and would be cool with only their 2nd this year, althought obviously thats way less than the chart says you should be getting. The chart says their 1st, 2nd, and 4th, this year, PLUS a 1st next year. Ideally we could land a 2nd this year and a 1st next year IMO. They would have to be pretty motivated to give that up. -
Like I said, I don’t really follow them much, thanks for the correction. I still think there is a huge opportunity for college teams to play on Sundays. Maybe some NFL fans will tune in, and become fans of that college team, even if only a little bit. National exposure to recruiting and TV dollars. I would be suprised if Fox and or CBS don't actively go after the college teams. It could be HUGE WESTENR NEW YORK HUGGGEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure hope not – When your draft record is as bad as the bills, even bad advice is good advice! -
There's a subscriber only report that the Bills are
High Mark replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s the Bills, they will strongly pursue a middle round pick and take him 2-3 rounds too high. -
I am hoping that a smart college football program tentatively schedules their games for Sundays and gets CBS or Fox to carry a couple of them nationwide. Talk about a recruiting tool and money maker. I’m not a golden domer but their agreement with ABC could be a big factor in just showing them Sundays instead of Saturdays. Or maybe the SEC talks with CBS to put their top matchup on Sunday. Lots of money to be made and lots of exposure too.
