  1. The secondary looked good a safety, and not so good at corner.........except for Brooks, who looks like a player.
  2. YEs, I watched Merriman some, and he played hard with no evidence of injury. But, he was playing behind superMario, and won't see the field much in that role come season start.
  3. Good for you....I couldn't stand it, left before Smith got on the field.
  4. Yes, I was there. Horrible display of football. Nowhere to go but up after that. Cordy Glenn totally whiffed on Orapco on the first play, and Fitz got sacked. But, after that he seemed to at least hit somebody each time, at least. Orapco is very active and a handful....but, Glenn was NOT ready. Cousins, the Skins third choice is the backup QB, and looked good I would trade both Young and Thinpen to get him in Buffalo.
  5. The word out of Tenn was that VY would never be a classic drop back passer in the NFL. He didn't have the head to do so..... Anytime he did well, it was the scramble that did it. I saw him do it to the Bills at the Ralph in his rookie season. But, if you want a displined system with complexity, this may be beyond VY. Too bad, a great physical skill set. I am guessing this rumor is right on.
  6. Well, I watched him last year, and so far, your view is nothing but wishful thinking. He got beat quite a bit last year, and does not have the McKelvin coverage ability. Don't get me wrong, his is a lot better than Florence, but I have not yet seen elite coverage skills. He still has to show that....so I classify your comment as wishful....
  7. My Dad's employer had tickets, and we got them this very day.(I was still in school) I remember the Edgerson touchdown like it was yesterday. The visibility was so bad, at times we could not see any players on the field. Worst conditions I ever saw at a Bills game. I was stunned when I got home and looked at the TV replays. The TV pictures were much better than the on field visibility, credit the electronic "snow" filters that also removed the image of the real "snow" Hence, those of you that saw the U tube view using the link really cannot appreciate how bad the visibility was that day. Yep, a real Bills memory at the old Rockpile. And, I admit it, I also am near older than dirt.
  8. I agree with the upper case IF on Vince Young's ability to learn the playbook. (and his willingness to execute it ala Chan's intent)
  9. I mentioned on another thread that I watched the WGR2 minicamp newsclip last night, and they showed Wood watching the session in shorts with a horrendous brace on his knee. Yeh, getting him back is real important, but he ain't there yet!!!Have not seen this written up anywhere....but looks like he did not play a drill in the camp.
  10. Actually, I watched the news clip on WGR2 last night about the minicamp. They showed Eric Wood watching the workout in shorts with a horrendous knee brace on. Folks, I am ready for bad news on that front after seeing that clip. Haven't read that anywhere, but that is what I saw. So, we need to watch that situation, and Urbek may well have to deliver at center. Maybe thats why we drafted the big guy from Oregon in the late rounds as well. I hope Wood is back, but he ain't there yet!!!
  11. I am a long time Directv guy, but a season ticket holder, so I don't do the NFL package, get plenty included in my Directv package (includes the NFL network) But, I know that DTV folks put those dishes on their roof, I advise new customers to NOT put the dish on the roof if you can avoid it. Holes in a roof are always a bad idea. I put mine on the deck side, wife was OK with that. And, as a bonus, when the rare occasion occurs (north of Buffalo where we live) that the dish gets coated with snow or freezing rain, I can walk out and clear it easily without risking my life. Just sayin.... Oh yeh, one more thing, when we do the snowbird thing in January/April, we can suspend the directv service and I don't have to pay anything while I am gone! Can do this two times a year!
  12. Actually, the kid from Georgia Tech is on the roster, and he also can play QB in the wildcat. So.......I don't think you will see Vince Young run the wildcat....that leaves Smith and whoever as wildcat QB candidates.
  13. Trent Edwards was Ralph's last pick.....and he got two starting games grace before the heave ho as a result of that status. Chan dumped him in favor of Fitz in game 3, 2010 if you recall. Make no mistake, that was Ralph's call, giving Edwards the opportunity, and chan (and buddy) who gave Trent his walking papers.
  14. Actually, directv has another major advantage....I am now a snowbird, and am out of town about 4 months a year...I can SUSPEND directv service twice a year, and no charges accrue during that period. Now, I don't think the WNY cable folks offer that, and, for me, it reduces the cost of directv by about 1/3 every year.
  15. Actually, as a grey head, I can remember one other Bills CB who was worse, almost like McKelvin. James Williams, in the 80's was a specimen, could run like the wind, and couldn't play football at all. Leodis is much better, but the comparison of not making a play on the ball is identical. Anybody else out there remember this?
  16. Merriman has stayed with it a long time in trying to recover, and has mostly kept his poise. You cannot rule out a return to prior form, since he is doing the right things. I think that the prior approach of no surgery actually slowed his return to form. His chances this time are better than last, says me. NIX wanted to bet on this horse, NIX is the man, and I am waiting for this bet to play out favorably.
  17. No defense, installing a new package, after a couple of years in the 3-4 will top the league. To many new things to learn, and to many new moving parts that need to learn about each other to make it to the league best. My hope: Move to the top half of the league defenses.....considering we were 30th last year, that would be a MAJOR move.
  18. His estate will own the Bills, with the executor in control. (Likely his wife with attorney help, for sure) The Bills will then be disposed of per his instructions and the rules of law. It has been discussed that the Bills will be sold, and that process would take time....maybe a season or two.
  19. Buddy needs to get to work on the 2013 free agents, Byrd, Levetra for sure. No rest for a GM, there is always more to do, and if cap space is available, there should be no higher priority now that the "plan" for 2012 is in place. OK, maybe another QB, but after that I mean.
  20. His legs were gone, beaten numerous times by speed receivers last year. Saw this myself, been waiting for this to happen. Yes, he made plays, but got beat more times.......Great attitude, but bad wheels can't be hidden.
  21. Yeh, I was at that game also....and the bills really could not stop him that day...his rookie year, I think. Great runner on the broken play. Adequate thrower, I recall. This is a chemistry thing, though, and not sure he is worth the trouble. On the other hand, if you want a playoff run, you need a 2nd QB who could win, and I am not sure that Thigpen or Smith are that guy. Might be worth a try if Chan and buddy can handle this perpetual head case. I wonder if he is quick on the pickup to learn Chan's offense, which is complicated to some degree?
  22. NOT SO FAST!!! I agree Leodis needs to up his CB game, but that may yet happen. I think however, that this listing is overly optimistic by quite a lot. First of all, Florence legs are really old, and he was beaten by speed many times last year. We would be better off if he didn't make the team, although I love his heart and his willlingness to do whatever to win. And William and Rogers haven't proved anything to me yet...both appear to be a step slower than the speed burners we have (Gilmore, Brooks, McKelvin) The positive spin these two have reminds me of the Ko Simpson buzz of a few years back...Ko was a player, but slow and eventually gone. Its all about speed and making plays. McKelvin has speed, has not made plays, Williams and Rogers make some plays, but are slower and beatable by the likes of that guy Hill the Jets drafted.
  23. I watch this situation very closely last year at the games in person. McKelvin is the only true cover guy we had out there...his problem is lack of plays on the ball. He has the jets. As for Florence, you have to love his skills and his heart, but the legs are not there anymore, and he got beat consistently by speed guys. And, Williams did not sell me on his ability to cover either. He can hit, and make plays, but he can't run with the burners either, although he has better speed than Florence. Florence and Williams will make plays on the ball however. McKelvin could turn it around in a heatbeat if he got aggressive on the ball. Reggie Corner is gone. McGee is old and injury prone. I hope the two new corners are great, as they have speed to burn, and that McKelvin turns it around. That would be the best outcome.(start those three burners) Williams is a young Florence, and certainly has a roll. I was also not sold on Rogers, despite his play last year, looked a half step slow to me. All this talk about Rogers and Williams reminds me of the Ko Simpson fiasco, where he played a year, and everybody was sold he was great. But, he looked slow to me, and he faded out in second year...went to the Lions in the third year...never made it. We have talent her, and Stache has to put it together to work. My idea is to let the old guys ride into the sunset, and let the young burners do OJT (on the job training)
