  1. Btw, I take it back, it ended up being hotter at 2 than it was at noon by a decent amount...not oppressively hot, but definitely will feel like a summer day with moderate humidity
  2. I live in Ft Lauderdale and if tomorrow is anything like today it's going to be perfect. It's almost 80, but almost feels more like a warm day in March (I was just up in Rochester wearing shorts when it was in the 50s, I can still handle the cold, and I can't explain why you can get a chill down here when it's 75 or 80 sometimes, it's the craziest thing).
  3. How do the stats look with the increased marijuana use, which presumably based on what I'm hearing you say is a recreational use increase. Or at least an increase in medical use for non critical conditions. Are intoxicated driving fatalities up, down, the same? Domestic battery? Nonviolent drug arrests? Curious, because a big argument for only allowing medicinal for only the most serious conditions is that only at that level of illness would the negatives be outweighed by the positives. Pot could be helpful for all sorts of small, but meaningful conditions, and before anyone scoffs at conditions like anxiety and insomnia, many people drink coffee every day to provide a small boost in alertness and energy. Small and meaningful, yet completely ok. Granted the inebriating effect of coffee is less than pot, but certainly pot's negative individual impact and societal impact is far closer to caffeine than certainly heroin, cocain and even likely alcohol and tobacco.
  4. Yeah, but the evidence is plenty strong enough that the burden of proof seems to have shifted to the NFL, and if that's the case, the line that other stuff could have caused it isn't going to fly. Prove to me football, or repetitive head trauma to be more specific, didn't cause it, because the evidence is saying it did and it's been proven the NFL invested in a disinformation campaign, much like cigarettes, and, it just came out, Exxon/Mobile. You're parroting what they're telling you to parrot is what I'm saying, make them prove what it is they are feeding you to say.
  5. And they're in a much more exposed position when being hit when throwing. Also, the hit can come from any direction when they're running, which makes it harder to anticipate and absorb.
  6. Carr is in the discussion of best college quarterbacks of all time, as is Rogers (less so). What happens to Carr if he gets to sit for four years and play with that online in Green Bay? What if Rogers has to start right away, behind the oline at the time in Houston? Does he do worse than Carr?
  7. So when you say many, but there have only been four total and you definitely support two of them, many might have been an overly strong word?
  8. How many hires have I missed? Rob Ryan, Ed Reed, this dude, the ST QC coach...did I miss a bunch more?
  9. This story has nothing to do with the bills on field, and the proof is that if this was a guy hire you wouldn't see anything more than a single line press release. They hired the most qualified applicant, who happens to be a woman and it's actually unfortunate that this even has to be a story, because qualification should be the only measure and there should already be women coaches. The fact that you are bringing the bills on field impact into this story shows you are against the hire because she has a vagina, or more so because she is different from you and that's 'weird.' It's actually ok for it to be weird, we all have internal biases we cant control, but you need to be self aware enough to realize them and use your mind to think past them. Also, jms62 is probably one of those that would say 'you are actually sexist because this FemaleCoachesMatter is sexist, didnt you know AllCoachesMatter?!'
  10. I think his thinking, based on his experience, is that leaders will lead regardless of a c on their jersey. Also, didn't the bills have a situation a few years ago, where one of the players voted by the players for captain was nixed by the coach? This avoids that possibility.
  11. Good for him, I really like Watkins! That being said, Yolo, I think we'd be surprised by many players don't care about the playoffs, hate football, play just for the money, and view the skills they were born with as a curse. Sammy is not one of those players, that's for sure!
  12. Tebow is not completing this throw in his wildest dreams: http://m.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Buffalo-Bills-tight-end-Chris-Gragg-27-yard-reception/5f53c899-75f7-4f85-bc50-11c365675c71
  13. Can we add three and out percentage to the metric? Ratio of plays behind schedule to on schedule as well. That should take into account game changing plays for and against, as well as consistency/efficiency.
  14. Ha "girls," priceless... No it's not all about personal satisfaction, it's about entering into fair mutually equal transactions. Obviously these women signed up for something where they felt the personal satisfaction they would get would compensate them for their time, and once they got in there they realized it wasn't even close and they were being taken advantage of.
  15. They signed up to stand on the sidelines during games I would imagine...is that all they were doing? And, they did get compensated, so it's not a volunteer job, so comparing it to a volunteer job is what is not apples to apples. Billion dollar team taking advantage of people and you blame the people...let me guess, they were asking for it going out dressed that way?
  16. Jones turned his life around...he gave a really good interview on the Dan Lebatard Show in October...actually feel pretty bad for the guy right now, and it's funny Hughes wears 55 also. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13830959/adam-jones-cincinnati-bengals-credits-coach-marvin-lewis-helping-get-hole
  17. Jones turned his life around too big time. That was brutally rough , but the hit on AB was worth 30 yards, that was pretty bad.
  18. A) they shouldn't have to, do you shut off social media on your free time so you can focus on your job? B) this is nothing new in our society, shown by the words of Elton John: Even when you died Oh the press still hounded you All the papers had to say Was that Marilyn was found in the nude That was how long ago? C) This is newer to sports though, and I think we can point to Tiger Woods as the tipping point, although the coverage of TO by espn, putting some of their best journalists (funny they used to have a ton of those) on TO watch was a very jarring shift to me at least. That was staged by the agent too, probably with the promise of future exclusive info. I've cut the cord though so haven't had espn in my life basically for the last four years. Grantland (rip), Dan Le Batard Show (I've been in South Florida for the last 4 years and have been listening quite regularly well before he went to espn), and well written in depth articles that come across my Twitter feed is how I do sports now. Really sad to see how espn devolved into what it is now. Cold Pizza compared to First Take enough said.
  19. I don't know, if I see something I don't like I will typically say something. If he raised what is a valid concern and something that could lead to espns eventual downfall (manufacturing news, and being basically a gossip, hot take rag) and then was told to go f himself essentially, I fully support what he did. In some situations quitting is the most appropriate course of action, but other times more subversive means to bring about change, or to start a conversation, are necessary. What if they told him right before they started filming, 'we don't care what you think, don't forget that espn makes the people, not the other way around, we pay you to read the teleprompter, not to have opinions.' On top of that they are having massive layoffs and he is probably seeing talented disruptive leaders being let go, while kiss asses and followers keep their jobs.
  20. They have production meetings where they choose the topics that will be discussed. Those choices are typically made by the show's producers, not the talent. Producers get their marching orders from the executives, so no he doesn't get to pick what he talks about. Actually similar to coach/gm relationship. GM picks the players, and coach chooses how to use them. Sounds like Edwards is getting sick of his GM (producer) forcing players (topics) on him that don't match his scheme (desired discussion topics). Think he might even be thinking about it that way, because he said pretty much exactly that right before he really blew up.
