  1. Hopefully we are trying to drive the price up on Taylor. I would not like him in NE. I do not think he has much left, however vetrans seem to find the fountain of youth when they go to NE. But homestly, there is no magic water just good coaching. Now wouldn't that be nice if we had some of that.
  2. This is not a good thing for Buffalo. The Bills are not going to draft him even if he is on the board. What it will probably do is cause a team ahead of Buffalo to pick someone the Bills wanted. The Bills have many more glaring needs then at WR. The defensive front seven has holes all over it. DE needs to be addressed, DT is an area with room for improvement. So is LB. On offense TE or OL are a consideration. But i dont think you see Buffalo take another WR in the first. Now Seattle or Cincy may decide to pass on Crabtree and pick up one of those areas that the Bills need a player.
  3. At the end of the day guys/gals, Lynch did something wrong. he knew it was wrong. And whether it is a felony or a misdemeanor does not matter. He put himself in the wrong place with the wrong people. Its not like he doesnt have 20 examples of what not to do over the last 6 months. Heck look at Micheal Phelps. I guess what i am saying is i think he needs a reality check. As a man i dont want to see anyone go down the wrong path. I think Marshawn is guilty of being careless, but thats still being guilty. He deserves some punishment which will cause him to think twice about doing something like this again. I dont want to see him sit for any period of time, as a Bills fan. However i believe it will only serve to benefit him in the long run. I dont feel sorry for him, i hope he understands that everyone has to abide by laws/rules. And for people in the public eye, it is much more important to do so. Hopefully he will come back more dedicated and ready to be a good man first and a good Bill second.
  4. I hope no one gives the Pats squat for Cassell. Would it not be great if the rest of the league realized that cassell is an ok qb but by no means worth what you have to give up. Then the Pats get stuck with two qbs makeing over 25+ million a year. I dont believe for a second the Bills want Cassell, sounds like a mind game by the Pats. They stir up this story. Shakes relations up Between Edwards and Buffalo. I aint saying but i am saying.
  5. Not showing up at the combine does not hurt a known player. Matt Ryan did not work out at the combine last year, and was picked three and is doing ok ( i say that tongue in cheek). Big confrence players, have a lot of tape on them. Scouts will know all they need to know about mack before the combine. The combine usually helps a player that is not as well known or a guy on the edge. Every team that needs a center has been at Macks and the rest of the centers games/practices all last year.
  6. Haynesworth will be a Falcon next year. They want him and need him. he has a house here and is close friends with Chuck Smith. Who still is close with the Falcons where he spent 8 years. Falcons have the money to spend on him. Wait and see.
  7. Two totally different things. McGahee was a malcontent. Lynch is guilty of being foolish. But given anyday i would go to battle with Lynch over McGahee. And they did get something for him. But the bills wont trade Lynch. This could prove to be a good thing for Lynch in the long run. He sits for four games (ok maybe 8 if he had POT in the car). Looses a bunch of cash and learn a little about life. Freddie steps up and plays good till Marshawn gets back.
  8. I remember before the draft in 2007 there were all kinds of questions about Lynch's character. I did not think the Bills would draft him. When Willis went off the board you could just hear the Bills War Room. 'Well we need a running back, get that Lynch kid out of Cali.'. Then we heard the story that he was going to bring his mom to Buffalo to keep an eye on him. That was a little strange to me. I by no means have written him off yet. He has made two stupid mistakes in two years. He is very very young. I think he is only 22 y/o. He and Jackson were going to make a good combo this year. Jackson needs another back to compliment him. In the NFL you need two backs. So while Freddie will now be the main back, the team needs to think about how long they will be w/o Marshawn and do they need to get a Vet for cheap to help out while he is suspended. Jackson is to Lynch what Sproiles is to LT. Neither Jackson or Sproiles could stand up to a 16 everydown back workl oad.
  9. Just poking furn at the guys who always throw up a post of we know his name lets grab him. But Seriously i wouldn't mind bringing in a Vet running back for cheap. Since Marshawn Lynch is probably on the shelf for atleast four games. Fred Jackson is your number one back but will definetly need a solid back up. McAllister reminds me too much of Anthony Thomas though. But a back like him or Taylor would be a good compliment to Freddie. And could probably be got for cheap. maybe like 2 million.
  10. Evans is the deep threat. What the Bills need is the guy that can pull double teams off him. The safety is able to play over the top and the cb can run underneath. Reed is your 5-8 yd posession guy. The Bills need Johnson or Hardy to step up and become the guy that can make the safety play honest. Right now opposing Ds know that the saftey can help the corner on Evans, and the LB can help on Reed. And they can let another corner be on an island with the other reciever. If the Bills develope Johnson or Hardy it makes the free safety and lbs have to keep an eye on him as well. or a true pass catching TE will also serve the same purpose. But the deep threat is not what the Bills need. I believe atleast up until last year no wrs has more 40+ receptions over a three year period then Evans. 2004-2007.
  11. Knox you hit the nail on the head. All that is out there are some mediocre TEs available. Spend the money on center and D in FA and pick up one of the good TEs in the first 60 picks. I fo rone don't see a TE comming off the board untile late first early second round. WR is not a need for the Bills. Upgrading the O and D lines is. Also a lb or two. At WR you got Lee Evans who is a legit #1. Go ahead and say he is not, but he is one of the top 15 wrs in the league. With 32 teams that means he is one of the best. You have a posession guy in Reed. You just have to hope that Johnson or Hardy steps up to become that solid #2 like Peerless Price was for Moulds. A good TE in the first 2 rounds ( round 2 i hope)and a quality center will make this offense look really good.
  12. Not sure if i would like him to be in a Bills uniform. On one hand you have a proven vet qb. Who sounds like he knows he has to compete for a job. The guy has always won games where he has been at. However on the other hand i think you might be looking at another Doug Flutie situation, where fans and the media are calling for Garcia the minute Trent has a bad game. Which will only lead to unrest. Haveing said all that Trent has not shown he can stay healthy a whole year, and would be good to not see the drop in production like this year when J.P came in. Trent was not lighting the world on fire then, but J.P was just awful.
  13. I know how much we all like to remember the past on this board. But remember back in the Glory Days (the late 80's and early 90)? The guy that is always forgoten is Kent Hull. He was the base of that OLine. Responsible for making the line calls. While Kelly Orchastrated the play. If the Bills could get a good center in FA or the draft, then we will see a huge improvement. Then center is the shortest distance from the line to qb. If the qb has a pocket form he can be succesful. He will be allowed to step up and make a play. On offense the Bills need a center. TE is a possibilty but i would not want to draft a guy in the 4th round or higher. Thats what you already have in Fine. Get center in FA get LB in the draft and Dline help. And pray that the coaching staff has a labotomy and can coach the guys up.
  14. You dont take a wr at 11. You dont need one that will be that costly. Bills just signed Evans to a lucrative deal. Johnson or Hardy eventually will develope into a solid player. WRs dont make an impact their first year. Unless he is a freak, and then he isnt there at pick 11. TE is another way to go, but it sounds to me that every TE has something missing from the game or a question. So wait until round 2 and grab one of them. This years TE class reminds me of last years WRs. They will start going off the board late first into the second. The Bills need to go front seven on D. Whoever they think is the best fit at DE or DT. Would not be terribly upset if the picked a stud LB either. I kind of like Cushing, he might be a reach at 11. But could be the best of the three LBs comming out of USC. DT would be a safe good pick. Bills havent drafted a DT in the first since when? In the end it all depends on how the Bills feel about the young guys they drafted last year to step up this year, and what they do in FA. They might think Ellis can contribute this year. Also could feel that Fine will have a good year if he stays injury free. No matter what i would not take a WR in the first. Esoecially not one from the Big 12 where they play no D. Johnson had very similar numbers to Macklins and Johnson played in the SEC. Its all speculation until FA starts. Then we will get an idea of how this team will approach the draft.
  15. I just dont see Buffalo drafting a wr in the first. Especially after last year it was proven how difficult it is for a rookie wr to make an impact. They have two vets in Reed and Evans. Two young guys in Johnson and Hardy. When they drafted Johnson last year i thought to myself this kid could be the sleeper of the draft for the Bills. I watched him play at Kentucky. His stats senior year are not that far off Macklins, and Johnson played in the SEC. Which has much better D's then the Big 12. If you dont believe me go check out the Big 12's drop in offensive production during the Bowl season. I would be very wary of drafting any O player out of that confrence. Just cause you put up good stats doesn't mean much. Most of the times it was like those guys were playing 7 on 7.Johnson is going to be a very solid player. At the end of the day guys, the Bills have much more pressing areas to adress. I for one would be disappointed if we selected a wr in the first. The Bills need to go D in the First. Either tackle or end. Maybe TE in second. Then a LB with next pick. That order could change depending what they do in FA. But sorry no Macklin and no vet wrs please.
  16. It was a big mistake. Worse part about it was that is was a mental error. One that a guy who has been in the leacgue for like 12 years should not be making. Also in that game watched Malloy take the worst angle ever, and get abused by Boldin for an 70+ t.d. I would be surprised if he is back with ATL either. I dont know how many Atlanta Fans i told he was not very good when they brought him here. The linebacker from that team i would like to see Buffalo pick up is Boley. He is young athletic and would be great in the Bills defensive scheme. He is UFA. The Falcons were looking to sign him to an extension last off season then he got into some trouble off the field and things cooled off. I always liked the way he played.
  17. As a person who lives in Atlanta and watched the Falcons over the years. Especially when they would go on playoff runs, and the Bills would frustrate me so much, i would flip around on the T.V. Brooking has always been a solid player. Never thought he was a great player. Yes he made a lot of tackles, but where you make a tackle on the field to me is much more important. A linebacker making a tackle 4-6 yds down the field isn't that special. He was solid but not great. And he single handedly blew the biggest play of the year in the playoffs. It was 3-18 (i think) in the 4th with like 2:00 mins left. Brooking bites on the play action and lets the TE get free behind him. Cards pick up the first down game over. If you think for one second he is better talent wise then anything the Bills have you are wrong. Great guy, team leader type, but his skills are gone. He was going to make way to much money, and Dimitrof is not the kind of GM to keep a guy around because of what he did in the past. See Algie Crumpler and Warrick Dunn. Another case of 'i know that name lets sign him.'
  18. Going by those rankings and players available. It seems to me you could get a center and LB in free agency. And then get your D end and tight end in the draft. Boley has always played well for the Falcons. He had an offseason problem last year in the middle of contract negotiations and then the Falcons backed off. He would be a good addition, maybe for not crazy money.I like the center for the Ravens. FA is where they need to address the center position. It is very difficult for a college player to transition into the prog ame at that position quickly. This team needs to win sooner rather then later.
  19. He will be an Atlanta Falcon next year if they want him. He has a home here. He has made it known to the right people that he would like to play here. The Falcons need a big d tackle to replace Grady Jackson. If he goes anywhere he goes to Atlanta. All that said, yes i would like him, Suggs, and Peppers. If you are gonna dream dream big!
  20. Peters has two years left on his current deal. He is going to show up and play this year. The Bills dont do anything, but tell him to play this year and then they will rework his deal or trade him to a team that will. End of story, he aint going no where. His agent will tell him the same thing. You wanna make a lot of dough, go out there and play football and shut up. You dont wanna seem as a malcontent so much that it will cost you money on the market. He made his point last year.At the end of the year next year is when you have all these 'trade Peters posts'. Or 'sign the man he is one of the main reasons we are in the playoffs' posts. Hey one can hope.
  21. The Bills are the new 'lovable loosers'. They are not inept. Wilson has tried a lot of things in the last 8 years to change that. he has hired the 'Hot' young cords as head coaches. And neither one of them worked out. He has now turned to an older established (although mediocre) coach to lead his team. I dotn think you can say he hasn't tried. He has. Being crazy can be desrcibed as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Mr Wilson tries to learn from his mistakes. If he could get a good coach and good GM things would be different. But each year that goes by with out one i get a little more jaded about the Bills.
  22. 85 Bears were incredible. When you look at that team. I was at that game. I still cant believe Ditka did not get Payton the ball for a touchdown. And all the b.s about him saying he didn't realize it till after the game. Let me tell you over half the stadium was chanting Walter in the second half whenever the Bears would get close to the endzone. Dominant Team and great personality. They had an entire nation following them. Lots of drama but they backed it up on Sunday.
  23. Reves actually called a couple of Bills games last year for Westwood One. He does a guest spot on a local radio show here and i can remember him one time saying he liked Trent Edwards and the young team Buffalo has. Now mind you this comment came during the 5-1 start. For what its worth. I dont know if he would come to Buffalo, probably gonna be a Cowboys 'consultant'. But hey he is old and that seems to be who Mr Wilson trusts. And i do think he would be a heck of a lot better then Jauron.
  24. When Ralph decided to retain DJ most of us thought he was crazy. Some of us tried to go along with the spin of 'continuity'. Now after seeing how many good coaches will be available for next season it make me wonder. Did Ralph know this? Could he forsee that Shanahan, Holmgren, Gruden and so on would be sitting out there next season. Some of you will quickly say yeah but those guys will never come coach at Buffalo. But did you honestly think Holmgren would ever go to Seattle when he did? And from what i understand about player personel the Bills Head Coach has a lot of input on it. A guy like this might be able to be lured to Buffalo. We could use the fact that we are the only team w/o a GM to an advantage. Tell one of those guys 'You can be our head coach and have a majority say in player selection, heck you dont have to worry about fighting with a GM because we dont have one.' To me it might be a win win situation. If DJ some how becomes a person on the sideline and not a robot, and the talent developes one more year. We make the playoffs. If not you cut him loose and go after one of the coaches with a pedegree of being a proven Super Bowl winner. And for those guys who want to say he wont pay the money for one of those guys. Stop! He does spend money, just unlike some of his counterparts in the NFL he is a smart business man. He takes calculated risks on where he invests his money. Not blind faith like Snyder or Jones.
  25. You keep him for another year. Peters and his agent both know this is his year to make the dough. Dont think you will see a hold out this season. Bills will wait to see if the Bell kid they drafted last year is developing, and thus could make Peters expendable at the end of next year for a trade. Either way all parties are happy. Bills get another year out of him playing for a contract and Peters will get Paid!
