  1. Anyone else starting to see that Baltimore is not going to be the defensive juggernaut they have been. First and most importantly they lost Ryan, the D cord behind it for years. Last year they lost Suggs, this year Scott. Now Rolle is gone. I know he is older and not been there for all the great D years in Baltimore. But he did have 3 ints last year and started 10 games for them. Ray isn't playing anywhere near what he was. Heck Leonard started for them last year for awhile. And Leonard is a decent player but not great by any means. At some point this is going to add up. And i bring this up because weaker AFC comp. means one more playoff spot open for the Bills. Your thoughts.
  2. It would also be nice to have two solid Vets surrounding Poz next year. Mitchell is a good player . Not great but good. And Peterson on the other side with Poz in the middle. Damn. That sounds like a very solid bunch. Then in the draft go after Dline help. It amazing how a good Dline makes a linebacker group look even better. Just ask Ray Lewis.
  3. There are still a lot of good LBs out there right now. I wonder if Peterson will last long though. The Bills and other teams look to almost be in a holding pattern right now. Maybe focusing more on the draft, and after that seeing what players they need. I for sure would not mind seeing him in a Bills uni, what was he making for the Seahawks? 30 LB still has a couple good years left.
  4. Metzelars had a knack for making some big catches. I overstated a little. But he had a good career, mostly because he was playing with very good talent around him. I would like Pettigrew a lot. But i think there are mor epressing areas of need. The D front seven and the Oline are much bigger needs. You address them this year. Maybe next year then you draft a TE in the first if you feel you are set at other areas. But if the Bills do draft a TE it better be in the first or second otherwise you are right back where you are now with another Derrick Fine or Schouman. I would see it as a total waiste to draft a TE in the fourth or so. If you go TE then draft on eof the best.
  5. If the Oline comes together. Then i think hell yeah. Plus he is in the third year of his rookie contract. He only has one more left after this year i believe, just a little extra motivation. He is a beast. And will break out this year. Probably get 4 game suspension, knocked down to two games after appeal. So he has to average 86 yds a game for 14 games. I will take the over.
  6. Do we really need a TE. Hear me out for a sec. You have Evans that might be one of the best deep threats in the game. Terrell Owens is great at running after the catch. I think he has lead the league the last few years in yds per catch. Josh Reed has turned into a great third option/ possession type of guy. Metzelars was not a great TE but seemed to always make the T.D catch when we needed it, but how much of that was because people were focusing on Reed and either Lofton or Bebe? To me, two good recievers make an average T.E look really good. Save the pick for Defense front seven. fine had a couple of nice games last year once he came back. Not saying he is the next Jason Whitten or anything, but he will probably look a lot better with Evans, Terrell, and Reed all lined up around him.
  7. I am not disputing his talent. But i am concerned about his desion making. The Bills have shown that if you come to camp and play hard they will rework your deal. Kelsay, Schobel, and Evans this year. Or the Bills make it pretty clear to you beforehand that they are not going to rework you curent deal and then you can play hard and get your payday in FA. Like Clements. Either way showing up and playing hard gets you your money. Either with the Bills or somewhere else. Sitting out with three years left shows just how ignorant you are. They owned him for three years, the Bills had all the leverage. But he and his agent still decided to sit out. Thats poor judgement. And dont tell me about making a statement. Everyone knew way beforehand you were unhappy, and rightfully so. He should get paid like a good starting LT. But he went about it totally the wrong way.
  8. He was not a great Left Tackle last year. Everyones says it was because Dockery. Ok i will buy some of that. But now he want sto be paid one of the biggest contracts in Bills history. You are going to tell me he is worth that? And for you guys who dont know anything about Bell i will remind you he is the same type of player Peters was, a project. And from what people in the orinization are saying he is doing really good. I will take them over any of us who probably havent seen anything. The FO wasn't wrong about Peters talent, and if they feal Bell is able to step up then i will trust them again. 11.5 million is too much for the Bills to spend on any one player. I hope they dont do it. Oh and by the way last year the Falcons jumped up back into late in the first and grabbed Sam Baker as their starting left tackle. And i think they had a pretty damn good year on offense. Baker got hurt near end of season, like Peters. But he played very good while he started. So you guys who say you cant get a probowl left tackle late in the first have 'no clue'. And Indys starting left tackle Tony Ugoh was taken in the second. And i think they have one of the best passing attacks in the game and fewest sacks.
  9. If you traded your 1st and Peters to Philly for their two first round picks. Then i think it would be pretty much a wash. Philly has the 21 and 28 pick in the draft. Also you could maybe get a third out of them as well. You get your Tackle with pick number 21 your DE with pick number 28. In the second you get TE and then with two 3rds you get two more OL.There are plenty of good young tackles in the draft this year. Not to mention we have D Bell who sounds like he is developing into maybe the next Peters, play wise. Peters has shown he always wants to get paid more money. And thats fine so would we all. But what happens in two years from now when another left tackle gets 14 million a year. Are you gonna say he wont want another raise? You know he will. And the Bills will be right back here again.
  10. My friend was T.O.s message therapist here in Atlanta. When he got injured in Philly he flew her and her husband up to Philly so she could work on him. He put them up in his house. They have both said there is a big diference in the guy they know on a personal level and one we see on camera. It has always made me wonder. I have never really carred for him much, but more then one person i know here in Atlanta, that knows him has said 'there is a difference in T.O and Terrell'. For what its worth
  11. I like the moves so far. But Oline needs to be addressed. I think we all agree on that. I think the Bills are waiting some guys out. Just like any other commodity the longer it sits the lower the price goes. so far the Bills have: LT Peters. I think his contract gets worked out. Dont think he will be wearing green next year. LG Maybe Simmons if the medical staff thinks he is ready to play. Sign to a two year deal. Starts this year. back up next. Rather not give up draft picks to K.C. for Waters. C Hangartner. I think he will be vast improvement over Preston/Fowler. Watched Carolina play a lot last year and the line looked damn good. Started 8 games for them. RG Butler. Smart and has developed nicely. If injury bug stays away he will be solid. RT Walker. Under contract for three more years. Very solid. And starts this year and next. Back Ups. Bell. With news that he is stronger and developing good. Might be the right tackle of the future. Haveing Peters and him as your bookends is exciting. Young Athletic tackles for years to come. Chambers is good depth at Tackle and gaurds. Draft a center ,prefer Wood from Louisville in third round if available or maybe Caldwell from Bama. Draft a gaurd in fith round. Best available at that point. What you guys think?
  12. The Owens move is perfect. One year deal allows Johnson to develope some, and play. Hardy gets better and gets playing time when 100% healthy. Parish is an enigma. But could be a great situation type reciever. And with Greer gone and McKelvin probably playing starting CB, Parish maybe works more on becoming your punt returner/kick returner. Not to mention recievers get hurt just like any other position. If, god forbid. Owens gets hurt then its nice to know we atleast have some guys on the squad that might be able to step up.
  13. Potential is a scary word. On one hand it means you have shown you can perform but on the other it means you lack the ability to do so consistantly. He is a fool. Even in my early 20s if someone told me all you have to do is put on a good show over the next three months and you will make 50 million dollars. Any you guys out there wouldnt be able to do that? I am sorry, do you want a guy like that on your team. He played lazy at Bama some times, just listen to Saban, others he was a monster. He was suspended in the Bowl game, which hurt his team and they lost. Not solely because him, but they could not stop Utahs vaunted blitz packages(joke). So what makes us think he is gonna change? If he is that unintelligent to grasp how he is hurting himself, what makes us think he will make good decisions once in the League. No thanks. Pass!
  14. The other arguement you can make is that the D will also benefit. If lik eyou pointed out, the offense clicks. We finally get to watch a consistant pro offense move the ball control the clock and score points, then the D gets rest and we dont have to watch the opposing team go on 70 yd drives in the fourth quarter to seal a victory. This happened in to many games last year.
  15. atlanta aint what it use to be. They pretty much broke up the Buckhead night life. The Ray Ray incident brought a lot of bad elements and eventually the bars got sick of dealing with the crap loitering outside and scarring of customers. There are still pockets/ areas to go out in. but the buckhead hayday is gone.
  16. I agree totaly with you. Center makes line calls and holds down the shortest distance to the qb, as well as help open inside running lanes. Thats why i think if you can get one of the good young centers in the second you jump on it. Then Hangartner can slide over to gaurd in 2010. A position he also did well at while in Carolina.
  17. The last few coaches TO has had have all taken different approaches. Parcells refered to him as 'that player'. Hardly if ever calling him by name. Phillips went totally the other way. Embraceing/praising him as openly as a coach could. TO seemed to produce and stay in line a little better under Parcells style. Jauron i think is setting the tone. He has always preached team. You hardly ever hear him praise a player by name or repremand any single player. He instead talks about 'or quarterback' or 'our cornerbacks'. This just might be what TO needs. A coach we will praise the team and make him a part of its overall success. If not TO is gone after one year. And we can stop complaining the Bills never try anything or do anything exciting.
  18. Currently being reported Peters and Bills are working on a deal. So left tackle should be good for awhile. Center was addressed with Hangartner who will be a big step up over Fowler/Preston last year. Butler at right gaurd is turning into a solid player. Walker is under contract for another 3 years at right Tackle. So that leaves left gaurd open. I dont like the thought of Whittle playing there everydown. He seems as a quality depth guy. My approach would be get Simmons for a two year deal if the medical staff feels he is ready. Draft a center in the second or third round to develope under Hangartner for a year. Grab a gaurd later in the draft in round 5/6 to add depth and work in behind Simmons. The thing that has me most excited is the new that Bell seems to be progressing nicely. Think about if he could turn into your everyday right tackle. He had great athleticism out of college, just lacked strength. Another year in the weight room should help with that, and he serves a the back up right tackle for the next two seasons. Then you have two young great tackles, center is addressed for awhile. Butler and Hangarnter are your gaurds and add depth/ one day starts in the draft. Set for years. Well atleast in theory.
  19. Moving from left tackle to left gaurd is not an easy move. However for someone as young as Bell it would not be as difficult a switch as say an Orlando Pace, or another longtime starter at tackle. Look how Peters was able to go from right tackle to left tackle. Thats a much more difficult move. And from everything i have heard about Bell he has the athleticism of Peters but lacked the strength. I think he only did 225 bench 9 times at the combine. That is not very good for a linemen. So if he has gotten stronger, and kept his athleticism. He will probably by the depth we need this year. I would like to see the Bills bring in another Vet maybe for a 2 year deal, like a Simmons for left gaurd. And let Bell focus on tackle. Maybe he is Walkers replacement. If that was the case, think about those two young stud tackles. Draft one of the centers in the second or third. And pick up another later round gaurd for developement. And man you could have a good line for many years. You already have Butler at right gaurd. Just my thoughts.
  20. To signing in Buffalo could actually start a precedent of some big names going to small markets. If TO comes in and plays good, the Bills make the playoffs, and he is beloved by the community, then this could change the way a lot of FA look at signing somewhere. It could be the start of 'big fish in a small pond' syndrome. I hope so. I am sick of seeing teams like Buffalo shut out because they dont have the bright lights or name like Dallas or New York. Just an observation.
  21. I posted this last week. I think you are right on about him. Whitner can play FS. Its is definetly worth a look. Price has to be right. There was talk about him moving into a weakside LB role. Especially in nickel coverages.
  22. The part about the interview that was kind of telling, was when Rosenhaus said Roscoe Parish was one of our good young recievers. Not sure he did a lot of homework on that one. Its always about the money. I think this is a win/win if the Bills make the playoffs and TO helps with that. So who cares about Rosenhaus.
  23. My thought exactly lets_go_buffalo. I know its not exactly an area of pressing need for us. But K.O. just isn't panning out. And Scott is ok, but i think Williams is an upgrade. Whitner gets to play where he can exel. Our corners are good and deep. Just a thought but i would understand if the Bills wanted to focus on the D front seven and Oline/TE. It would be fun to watch Williams light up Welker.
  24. Roy Williams was let go in Dallas. He is a SS. The Bills have hinted at maybe playing Whitner at FS so his coverage skills can be utilized more. Williams was a beast when the Cowboys played the 4-3 like Buffalo does now. However he has seen his production drop in the new 3-4 scheme of the Cowboys. I am not sure what his cost would be. However he is 28y/o. So he is not too old. He did have injuries last year, so the price might not be too crazy on him. This is a guy worth a phone call and a visit. If he and his agent are realistic about his worth.
  25. The Bills dont over spend on FA. So no its not rocket science but negotiations. The players are looking for the best fit. Chances are if a guy signs on the spot then you probably over paid for him. He knows he isn't getting anything close to what you are offering him.
