I spoke with a couple of Bills trainers who have gotten to know him. They all said he had been talking all year about retiring. That he just wants to go hangout on his ranch and enjoy life. They said they really did not believe he would be back. That he does not care about money.

If Clausen or Bradford fall to us we will pick them
atlbillsfan1975 replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have talked to a scout, he told me that he likes Bradford a lot. He is the Matt Ryan of this years draft. I therefore think there is no chance in hell he is there at 9. But if he is the Bills should run to the podium. Not so sure about Clausen. i have not spoken to my friend about him. This scout was in on the pick of Ryan and also a certain QB in Indy. So yeah he knows a thing or two about evaluating QBs. -
LaVar Arrington speaks on Whitner, Campbell trade
atlbillsfan1975 replied to billsevans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dont know if you guys remember Campbells college career at Auburn. But it was much the same as his pro career for the first three years. Glimpses of good things but over all disappointment. Then his senior season Auburn brings in a new OC and something just clicked with him. Campbell had a great senior campaign and went on to boost his draft status accordingly. I dont know how much seriousness there is to Whitner for Campbell rumor. But i would not want to give up much more then Whitner for Campbell. Bills will need ever pick if they are serious about switching to the 3-4. And inproving the Oline. -
Incredible QB story discussing Brohm and others
atlbillsfan1975 replied to F UNC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me it seems like when Brohm had a good coach, Petrino, he succeeded. He has not had a good qb coach it seems like since he has gotten to the NFL. Gailey is credited as being a good qb coach. Or maybe hire Brohm brother to coach him lik ehe did at Louisville. If nothing else may have your number two qb for the next ten years. -
Surprise in Free Agency?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just like when they played next to each other for Georgia. With the Bills maybe looking to go to the 3-4, i think a Wilfork would be the better pick up. If you wanted to spend big, sign Wilfork(if he gets away from N.E) then get the best FA LT. Who is out there? -
Question: Rebuilding entire staff
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BB Fan 4 LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Atlanta did it right. Blank realized he needed a real football man makeing personel decisions. He moved Rich McKay to President of Operations, Dimitrof was brought in as GM. Dimitrof was able to hire the coach. he also redid the entire scouting department. The Falcons are definetly on their way. They had some bad luck last year with their first two picks getting injured. Give them one more draft, and i think you are going to see a winner for years to come. They just broke a 40+ year jinx, of never haveing two winning seasons in a row. -
Look, it sounds like Gailey is going to call the plays. He thus needs someone who knows his style and what he likes to see. A manager during practices and a guy that can keep the other coaches on the same page as Gailey. Modkins will no doubt have Gaileys best intrest at heart, since Gailey basically gave him every opportunity he has had since leaving New Mexico. If Gailey/Nix go out and can get a strong D Cord, then i am ok with this. Let Gailey call the plays on Sunday for the O, and manage the clock. Let the DCord run the defense.
-
One reason could be because he did not pick up things quickly. I heard from guys on the staff, that he was not one of the scholars on the team. So asking him to move to OLB in midseason might have fried his brain.

I spoke to a friend of mine that is a college scout. He told me that Bradford was the best QB comming out. Now this was around Thanksgiving time. I dont believe Clausen had anounced yet. I will talk to him about Clausen when i see him next. He was on Polians staff in Indy when they drafted Manning. And was here in Atl for the Ryan pick. I think he knows how to evaluate QBs.

What did everyone take out of the New Conference
atlbillsfan1975 replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
point 6. Last time i checked those 'rednecks' from the south had a better economy, better quality of living, and were not getting raped by there state gov't when taxes hit. So who is the moron? -
Who do we bring in as a Defensive Coordinatior?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim Mora jr would not go over to well in Buffalo. He is a guy that was born on third base and acts like he hit a triple. -
Ok a few thoughts from an Atlanta Bills fan. I also follow the Falcons and Ga Tech. Let me just say that Gailey and Vick would be terrible. Gailey had a qb named Reggie Ball white at GT, a match made in hell. Vick has lost his greatest asset, his speed. He was a marginal(at best) passer. No thank you.
-
If this is true, i am done. Gailey stinks. Watched him coach at Ga Tech for years. Was horrible at clock management, play calling, and player developement. I will finally believe what some of you have been saying for years, Ralph just does not care. Gailey is another Jauron.

All-Pro Team- offensive tackles
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not saying drafting secondary guys is the answer. I am all for Oline guys. But the Peters thing is just silly. He almost single handedly lost that game for Philly against Dallas in the playoffs. He could not slow down any Dallas DE's. You think he is gonna get quicker the older he gets? ha. Oher to early to tell. His own coaches at Ole Miss were saying that he could be a star or a bust. That Oher just does not care that much either way. McKinnie and Williams were neck and neck. The Bills picked the wrong guy. That one i will agree with you. But that happens. Until the Bills get a Personel guy running the show, that can evaluate talent and pick his guys, we are screwed. Hell i dont mind picking secondary guys in the first, put pick guys like Reevis or Reed. Not Mckelvin and Whitner. -
I dont see Cowher coaching Buffalo next year. Do any of you really? I mean really? Not hoping. And before you point to the T.O signing, they are two totally different things. First T.O had just been fired. He was being blamed for ruining 3 teams. Not too many clubs were calling, and i bet none offered $6.5 mil gauranteed. Personally i think it is a bad year for Cowher to try and coach again. Fox is staying in Carolina, Shanahan to D.C. Oakland who knows and who wants it? Dallas is the wild card. If they dont win a play off game Wade is out. But does Cowher want to work for Jerry Jones? I think he stays in the warm confines of the studio for another year. Sorry Bills fans. Not saying that its a bad thing either. Maybe Buffalo gets the next young 'fire in his belly' cord, who turns out to be here for the next 10 years.

Schobel is gone i think after this year. From talking to a couple of guys that work for the Bills (no not anyone special like Russ) he has been talking about retireing after the season is done. Supposedly he hates football. He likes the money but wants to go back to his ranch. I go back and forth on Cowher and all the other big name guys. Personally if you dont get the GM right the rest is wrong. Go out and find the right GM a guy that has worked on some good staffs, like under Polian. Then let him hire his coach. The GM works with the coach on what the coaches philosophy is and thus what type of players are most important and what those players strengths should be. They then look over the current roster, see who is in and who is out. Go draft and sign guys in FA. Explain to everyone it will be a 3 year process. But within the next three years you expect to have a playoff team and thus be competing for a championship again in Buffalo. The same Buffalo guys also told me that Russ has admited the orgination needs a GM and he has been out interviewing guys.
-
Dave Caldwell He is head of the Atlanta Falcons college scouting. He has held that position for the past 2+ years. He was hand picked by Dimitrof from Indy. Caldwell worked under Polian for 8 years. He is a WNY native. Has over ten years working with very succesful personel guys. Only real negative is his age. 36 i think. But i would like to see a young guy in charge. Have certain people around that can help him, but he has ultimate say on personel moves.

Bingo Bills need to clean house in this area too. No way is it a coincidence that every year the Bills end up with about 25% of there opening day starters on the IR by the end of the year. A team can have some bad luck here and there but every year? Thats not bad luck thats a serious problem.

The best QB for the 2010 Bills...
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 Bradford is the best pro QB prospect. And due to his injury he might be available when the Bills pick. If he had a great senior season he would be gone at number 1. Spoke with a scout i know. I asked him who is the best qb? Without hesitation he said Bradford. This scout was involved in the Peyton and Matt Ryan picks. Just saying. -
Polian weighs in on Tebow
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would rather know what Polian thinks about Sam Bradford, the best QB this year. -
I am not going to copy Touchdown Jesus' post. But i think if anything it proves you take a qb in the top 15 picks of the first. Yes there are guys drafted in the 3-6th rounds. Most are not great qbs. The one exception is Brady. Warner was also a great qb (good now). The Bills should go after Bradford. He is the real deal. The next Matt Ryan type qb. He might be available at 8-10 in the draft due to his injury. Not sure though. At the end of the day the Bills need a true GM, a talent guy, to make this decision. But i am sick of project qbs and guys that fall to the third round. They take atleast 2-3 years to develope. You want to go thru another 3 years of 7-9?
-
He is not an NFL qb. You saw Saturday why he wont be. The only time he really hurt Bama was when he took off running. Thats great in college, but he will get eaten alive in the NFL. I have watched him play for 4 years. He will be out of the league in 4 years with too many concussions. Take Bradford in the 1st. Get your franchise qb.
-
Take Sam Bradford with your first. Then trade back up and get a LT. stop trying to show everyone you are smarter then them. Bradford is the real deal. LeFevour may or may not be. He has Trent Edwards J.P, Collins, and who ever else the Bills drafted in the last 13 years writen all over him. They only time this franchise had any real success in the last 30 years was under Kelly. A true consensus first rounder.
