Play-off problem solved!
Charles Romes replied to Cookiemonster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The present NFL playoff format is in a state of Zen perfection and should not be disturbed. You have to have a good year to make the playoffs which is the way it should be. If you have a great year you should be rewarded and the present format does this with the bye and the home field to the top 2 seeds. The playoffs are missable in the NHL these days, but remember when 16/21 teams got in? The was the extreme in a watered down playoffs. -
Hate to say it, but it could be a good thing if Jackson is bottled up today and looks like no more than an average #2 so he stays relatively under the radar making him signable. Lets win with our long term contract players today.

Amazingly similar games. Both had rocket arms, great foot speed. Both utterly oblivious to the rush. RJ may have been the most oblivious of all time. Both used the "sacks don't hurt" flaw of the QB rating system to build up decent stats. RJ was more fragile, JP was shorter. Both bad game managers. JP was worse at the short range touch pass.

If Collins wins one home playoff game this year, he will have brought three different teams to a conference title game. Has this ever happened before? Its tough to list QBs that have brought two different teams to a conference title game (Craig Morton, I think). Collins can lay claim to being the greatest bona fide journeyman QB in league history.

Finally something so irrational that it motivated me to make my first topic post. Season is over, no QB could play worse than JP the last 6 quarters, JP is a lame duck, Gibran needs the reps, we all need to see if he is at least back up material, losses are wins at this point in terms of draft stature.

Did they play the Shout song in Toronto
Charles Romes replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
a few others that might have been appropriate in view of the way the season has gone: slip sliding away - simon and garfunkel free fallin' - tom petty -

if we win out the wins would be our first second third and fourth best wins of the season. -
Bills not on TV in Syracuse this weekend
Charles Romes replied to PastaJoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a disgrace. If the Bills were an overachieving bad team and not a grossly underachieving decent team this would not have happened. -
yeah you have a shot at a ten win season (A TEN WIN SEASON!!!) and you rest your starters

im sorry. i don't post that much but overloading at dt might be the smartest thing a team can do

Kurt Warner is an NFL hall of famer - grocery clerk to superbowl mvp is all time NFL rags to riches story (Namath is in for 1 game) - 2 league MVPs (on an extremely short list) - performance during three year period 99-01 is the conversation of greatest 3 year stint of all time so, he may have gotten in if he retired after 01. if he - wins mvp this year or leads cards to superbowl appearance, he moves to first ballot if he gets 2nd team pro bowl or leads cards to playoffs this year he gets into a conversation for first ballot

The 2006 Draft as a Class ... getting better
Charles Romes replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
and there it is...cant discuss the 06 draft without discussing ngata. nada to ngata. ngata is one of the greatest names in would-be Bill history, here are some others: mckinnie, bryant johnson, malcolm kelly, michael turner, gonzales, flutie (but thats confusing because he eventually signed 13 years later. -
Did anyone catch the jack@ss CBS announce crew..

All I hear is Edwards, Edwards, Edwards
Charles Romes replied to MavBavButav's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If things pan out the way it looks like it might, most of the credit will have to go to Marv. Its hard to believe that this team was seen as so hopeless 2 seasons that the coach walked out so as to avoid a certain resume stain. Freakin' Marv, even the Whitner over Ngata pick is slowly turning in Marv's favor as time goes by. -
i see visions of scott norwood in my worst nightmares. he did somehow kick that fourth quarter 50+ yarder in Jan 92 in freezing temps to hold off denver in the 91 afc title. was norwoods greatest kick ever. no one talks about it and no one remebers it happened after sb 25

I agree -- football must be played outside. all the dome teams have gotten rid of or are in the process of getting rid of their domes. Most of these retractable roof deals are just as bad as a dome, with their racing stripe type roofs. That new place Indy has is repulsive. Give me a bog open bowl and save $400M in the process.

Crowell still hasn't had surgery
Charles Romes replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
sorry if this covered elsewhere -- can the bills trade crowell, or is he automatically IR'd throughout the league for the rest of the year. what if he's released, can he play for someone else in 08. -
hey at least it wasn't the patriots. that is usually a tell tale sign of having blown it.

Has anybody body here gotten drunk
Charles Romes replied to twist_to_open's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we are going to compete with the spending capacity of our rich neighbors to the north and keep the team here we need as many true fans like this as possible. -
i love how manning and brady pulled a bruce this year, and decided they weren't going to show up to camp. you have to be a top 2 player in the league to pull it off, and bruce certainly was that for many many years.
