Sorry got to jump in here... I am failing to see the Superbowl thing, so under this theory, Frank Reich was better than Josh at making in to Superbowl's... or Jamie Mueller... or Gale Gilbert...So are we suggesting we take Gale or Jamie over Josh? So I am not sure if you are just busting chops or being a smidge tongue in cheek... If so, you got me good LOL... as I write this long winded response.... 😆 but if you are not... I am not sure of the intent of this comparison.... Like, Jamie Mueller or Frank Riech or Gale Gilbert should be lauded for their ability to make Super Bowls... ? I guess ... Not sure how this is an assessment of their abilities... or that makes them better than Josh at anything... I suppose you could say, "You said that Kelly was better than Josh at nothing... but I know for a fact he could kick is a$$ in a beer drinking contest...." Ok you got me... that's kinda where I sit... fact, but not a relevant one in comparing two players... Now, If you are saying that it was an actual ability or skill that Kelly had that was better than Josh other than just being situationally fortunate... I am not sure what that skill was... like some clutch gene or something? If so, I would say that is highly debatable... Now If it was just simply situational I am not sure that this makes Kelly better than Josh... if you are arguing Kelly was blessed with more talent on his team in a weaker conference thus made it to more Superbowl's, I wouldn't call this better I would call this fortunate...If you are saying it was some performance or leadership intangible that Kelly had that propelled himself and his team to Super Bowls... You are essentially saying that if you magically switched QBs... with eras that Kelly would do better with this team than Josh would do with the 90s teams.... if you are saying that, you are effectively saying that Kelly is better at much more than going to Super Bowls than Josh... BTW Welcome to the board !

How many wins do the Bills get without Josh?
GunnerBill replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yea if the replacement is Trubisky they win somewhere between 5 and 7 IMO. If it is league average Quarterback - the Geno Smith Test - it's 8 to 10 If only there was a thread where these opinions could be posted..... -

You keep trying to put you spin on it. It makes for good comedy. -
It will change for Josh when the defense finally shows up in a big spot in the playoffs. Those Bills teams Kelly was on had a game changer on defense with #78. This Bills defense has nobody that is remotely close to being as dominant as #78 was.

Yup. Just like I don't accept "Trump made me break into the Capitol." You know that "personal responsibility" thing Thurmal was talking about... How much do you want to bet? Yes, very odd they'd release the "hit list" but not the manifesto. Is this guy trans or something? -

I'd just like to point out that McDermott managed 9 wins and a playoff appearance with Tyrod Taylor at QB, starting Shaq Lawson, Adolphus Washington, Preston Brown, Ramon Humber, and EJ Gaines on D. We did run the hell out of LeSean McCoy though and the OL was good. -
What did the "no kings" protests actually accomplish? Like are there really people on the fence that they were convinced to side with the left after the protests? Other then the left trying to take a victory lap for this protest, what did it accomplish? To me, it seems like it was more of rally for the far left. Again, what was accomplished?

Political Violence: Where Do You Stand?

But where do you stand? -
Yea agreed - that was the point I was trying to make with Bernard. The Bills love him because he is in every way reliable. He lines up correctly, he gets others lined up correctly and he is assignment sound. He is a leader and a mature professional off the field. There were excuses for the regression in 2024, and even on 2024 form I'm not arguing Bernard was a problem or a weak link or anything.... I'm just saying for me to like the contract long term there needs to be some more of the 2023 playmaking. On pro bowls vs all pros I get ya but to me I think 1st team all pro comes first, then 2nd team all pro and then pro bowler.

I honestly don't know why the league would give Atlanta a 3rd shot. Houston and KC (IMHO) should be next in line if the league wants expansion.

I personally think this post is extremely bad juju and should be terminated with prejudice. But that's just me. -

I think the Bills could be the first 6-11 division champion without Allen -
@ChronicAndKnuckles I hear you. I do think McBeane is on the right track now. Having capable and smart secondary and linebackers helps, as well as the cliche of "it takes everyone." It does work against most QBs and offenses. But history has shown that against the very best - Brady and Mahomes types, brute force might be the most effective way. Like you said, Brady's two superbowl losses to the Giants, Mahomes' two superbowl losses to Bucs and Eagles have a common theme: the D-line dominated the O-Line. Overall, I think the Bills D-Line is at least a year away. Currently we have starters Bosa, Oliver, Jones, Rousseau, with backups Epenesa, Sanders, ogunjobi, Jackson, and third string Solomon, Carter, Walker, Hoecht. probably better depth overall than they have ever been. BUT we need probably 2 legit stars to dominate which free up others to make plays consistently. I'm not counting on Oliver, Jones, and Rousseau to be a true star (win majority one-on-one against capable O-Lineman). Hope Rousseau to take another step but history says once a player is paid, don't expect an immediate breakout season. Bosa is at least capable (done before) and motivated, but no one knows injury factor. The hope is on 1st and 2nd year guys and we do have a lot of them (5 to be exact).

Yeah I wasn't looking at 2nd team and I lumped pro bowl and all pro together for this purpose, but you come to the same point - it's not a defense built on athletic "freakazoids", it's a defense built on "Do Your Job". I agree with you about pro bowls, but they are a form of league-wide recognition, enough so that contract incentives are based off them, and yes, Tremaine made 2. And yes, Tre White was the closest thing we had to that athletically superior freakazoid and it hurt to lose him, and hurt more that Elam never developed into a player let alone a replacement. Everyone has draft "oops!" but that one hurt. I don't think we should overlook the impact on Bernard of 1) playing next to Dorian Williams for 11 weeks. He was kind of minding 2 gaps - his own, and the one Williams might, or might not, be minding. 2) He also was dealing with injuries - got back on the field after a torn pec in a week. That's unheard of, but it has to have been affecting him beyond his first game back. He also gave 1 whole game to an ankle injury. (I'm sure you don't want to hear it, but he also got married mid season. Even if he's doing 0 planning, the groom does need to be involved). Really the question with Bernard - he's got that smaller frame, no doubt he's tough as nails but he has to be going at 95% to make plays bigger dudes can make going at 80% so will he be durable longer-term? I think the thing the Bills really like Bernard is his on-field generalship. Part of it, of course, is who Edmunds was playing with. When you're a rookie playing with Zo Alexander, Matt Milano, Tre White, Dr Poyer, and Mr Hyde, there's not too much need for field generalship and in fact, it might not go over well. But when backups are playing, and as the roster churned, there was a need, and it took several years for Edmunds to develop that part of his game. I thought it was notable that there were vignettes in "mic'd up" of McDermott sending coaching messages on field through Micah Hyde at critical points in critical games. I thought it showed some in 2022 with Rousseau and when we lost Hyde and had Benford and Elam playing across from Dane Jackson. Bernard, from what I've seen, is more like a little Honey Badger. He don't care who you are or how many years you've played, he just cares where you are and what you're doing on the field and if it's not the right thing you'll hear about it - on the field, on the sidelines, and if need be afterward. Hopefully the baby will be getting more sleep by September and as long as he stays healthy, I'm confident he'll be fine.

Minnesota lawmaker assassinated another shot.
Big Blitz replied to 4th&long's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
He has radical views on immigrants. Open borders. That’s all I see there. Sorry. "He didn't like Jim Walz [sic]. He didn't like Jim Biden [sic]." "Well, I didn't like this, that Tim Walz did this, I didn't like he did that." "I can't believe a political issue would cause him to do such a thing." This roommate is completely unreliable, given that Boelter targeted two Democratic lawmakers in SEPARATE attacks who had sided with Republicans to strip illegal aliens of healthcare funding. What did Tim Walz do lately? He signed a bill to strip illegal aliens of healthcare funding. Boelter is listed on the site of the Minnesota African Union, which explicitly supports African immigrants. This isn't politically motivated? But he is a "Trump supporter." And "he wasn't a Democrat." And he listens to "Infowars." MAGA! -

Prove it was “MAGA.” Which should be easy since there is a manifesto and a car filled with no kings fliers. And a wife that interned for Walz. As did he - you get appointed to the positions he was because totally on merit - not your connections. As he should. The Democrat party is a terrorist organization flaunting the law and calling for more violence and “resistance” to the law. We need to go full EU.
