I just never understood that pick. Nothing about it felt right. Ladd seemed like the “process” guy. I don’t even want to hear detractors say “but Shakir”, as if having another player who can actually run routes and get separation would be a bad problem to have. I’ve said it numerous times, Brandon Beane’s resume is essentially Josh Allen. That trade back was just as bad as standing pat and letting the Chiefs leapfrog him for McDuffie, and then settling for Elam instead. I’m not even sure how Bills fans can get excited for drafts anymore with his boom/bust ratio. Josh & Cook aside, there’s no boom with his players it’s either serviceable or bust.

I hope you’re right about 12 wins. I can’t look that far ahead but the Panthers and Chiefs look way better than the Bills right now. I believe the Bills are staring at 4 - 4. This defense is terrible and our receivers aren’t much better. -
Did we already miss the window with Josh

They’ll just pick the wrong guy anyway. -

McDermott and most coaches needed to be replaced. Bean may as well. We can’t tackle, we lack fundamentals, any we are undersized at a few positions. We is a joke. -

The Bills best victory was against a 1-5 Ravens team. Fraud alert -
My god, do you hear that? It’s Gabe Davis’ music!

Why stop there, let’s just keep going back. Let’s bring Doug Whaley back. Hot take alert, but I legit think if he’d drafted Josh, this team would be better off with him at the helm. -

No.. The roster has just been very poorly managed around him the last few years -
Joe Marino on the Bills Squad Show … “Keon is a limited player …he is only going to be able to help you in limited ways ..”

That’s not his bag- that’s bonus. Hawes is a key component to our run game. I bet you liked Alex Anderson’s role last year. Anderson hardly sees the field, because Hawes is such a devastating blocker

Go on record... Fire McDermott?
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane and McDermott both should be gone. If Beane was going to get another chance, he should’ve done his job and found a new coach when McDermott couldn’t get it done with homefield vs KC. That should’ve been the last reasonable chance for him to get to the dance. The rest of the league is clearly catching up, McDermott’s brand of ball is not going to get it done. Beane’s drafts have largely been mediocre/bad. The answer is just languishing down there in North Carolina. Defense wouldn’t be a liability with him running the show. I also can’t think of anybody who would be more motivated or more qualified to go win atleast one more Super Bowl. -
Joe has a pathetic short yardage playbook. I’m sick of his “cute” offense. Two weeks in a row we ran a complicated Jet Sweep with JAGs,both times fumbled. We can’t scheme WR matchups, too little play action, abandons run.

He didn’t let him go. NE* offered ridiculous $$. No way we could match that for a player whose career has been average at best. But he was a Fit here.. Yep. That should do it 🤦♂️ Given Brandon’s alarming lack of success with early pics, I’m for trading them for known quantities while we still have Allen in prime years. The Cap keeps going up so we can afford acquisitions that bring pedigree while dumping vets who’ve proven they’re not good enough. Maybe not top tier, but quality starters. If Pegs doesn’t make major changes after the season, I think this would be better course than college kids. Jmo. I also expect a WR being traded for before our next game. -
Allen said it best in postgame throw accurate passes when they are in man. I see a QB struggling with accuracy issues and timing.
-
If it came down to Beane or McDermott I would say Beane must go. The issues are entirely on drafting only defensive players.
-
Defense did their job. Bills had 3 chances to tie, after Bills D stopped Atlanta. But the offense failed 3 times. Just like the offense failed in the 4th against the Chiefs last year. Once again our weak D gave the offense a chance to win, and our offense failed. Palmer and Shakir are good. We need at least 2 more solid outside WR, preferably 3 more. Offense needs play makers besides Josh and Cook.

If it was going to happen with McDermott, it would’ve by now. I don’t think the window ever closes on Josh, atleast not for the next 7-8 years. However if the Pegulas are content with Beane and McDermott running the show like the Fish were with Shula, then unfortunately he’s gonna go down as this generations Marino unless he pushes his way out of here. Atleast when the Fish were wasting Dan Marino’s Hall of Fame career with Shula, even though the game started passing him by, Don atleast had a career accomplishment or two to hang his hat on. Sean McDermott is supposed to be a defensive guru who year after year turns out mediocre to bad defenses. And year after year, no matter how good the Bills have been he’s seemingly never in the conversation for “coach of the year”, which speaks volumes… I honestly don’t understand what we are doing here anymore, but this thing ran its course a few years ago. We have now entered the “exercise in futility” stage of McDermott’s tenure here in Buffalo. -
Might as well tank for the #1 overall pick. What are our odds?

Yes, this overpayment (aka keeping your own guys) is the kind of "loyalty" that is killing this team. Continuity? Of what? Continuous mediocre defense? I'm afraid Terry Pegula uses that same "loyalty" concept to avoid the distasteful process of firing a coach or GM. Like @muppy said in another post, it's like a "cheaper to keep her" marriage where you just don't want to make the change because change is so... icky. Thank you, @Virgil for your coherent thoughts at a depressing time like this. - Today

The defense did a good job in the second half. Only gave up 3 points. Considering how many guys we were short going into the game and how many guys we lost during the game, they did ok. Pass rush was decent, but had to temper that with the threat of Bijan going off. Pass defense was not great…Bishop had a bad game. Run defense was abysmal and they can’t tackle. That being said, the defense gutted it out and gave the offense a chance and that is all you can ask for.

Who is that senior defensive assistant I have heard about? Holcomb? Maybe he could take over at DC.
