John Clayton said he expected him to go in the middle of the 1st a couple weeks ago. Anybody with an IQ over 30 would choose Jacksonville all day, every day, if given the choice. Unless, of course, they couldn't bear to leave WNY because of their need to be close to Bills. i'm not from WNY and i'd chose Buffalo anyday with or without the Bills! Sort of like Jacksonville so Jacksonville must be very close to reality. I have worked in Jacksonville and found small towns in midwest more interesting than Jacksonville. While you didn't ask me, I have lived in Niagara Falls (a real hell-hole now), Buffalo, Boston, San Francisco, LA, Huntington (Long Island), Milwaukee (for a short time) and now St. Augustine. There are some very nice places to live down here. Jacksonville just doesn't happen to be one of them. There are decent neighborhoods, to be sure, but let's not pretend J-Vills is a bustling metropolis or that there is so much to do there. It's a hick-town. A place where a chain restaurant is considered a fine eating establishment. St Augustine is nice, Ponte Vedra is nice...but Jacksonville? Puhleeze. But tell me, other than "go to the beach" or golf, what is there to do on a Sunday afternoon that you can't do in WNY once the weather changes? In Buffalo you can go skiing, or enjoy other winter activities. You can go a number of Casinos in the USA and Canada. And, Toronto (a real big city) is just a drive away. Where do you go on Sunday that makes it so difficult to go to an NFL game? And Magox, Jacksonville isn't a college town. Both places are infested with inbred trailer trash. The notion that there's anything to do in jacksonville is highly comical. Jacksonville likes to think it's a "big city" but it really isnt. The only reason the metropolitan numbers are so high is because the "city limits" of jacksonville cover a huge area. On I-10 driving into Jax, you hit the "city limits" 22 miles outside of downtown. So basically a little crap hole city decided to include all of the surrounding trailer parks as part of the "metropolitan area." John in jax is likely posting from his trailer, sitting there with his can of natty light combing his mullet and hoping the jags draft tebow so he can have something else to wear on a night out instead of his Dale Earnhardt Jr shirt and his cutoff jean shorts. Maybe it's not fun to you, but that doesn't mean other don't enjoy it. If watching/going to football games is a chore, then you're not a fan(atic). And at that point, who cares? I know, right? LOL. I golf here in VA and there are some fabulous courses. I visit family. I also go for rides on nice days. These three things seem to be mentioned in this thread several different times. LOL. NONE of those things compare to going to the Ralph to see a live football game. My mom lives one block from the beach, with a crows nest on top of her house, and she goes to a smoky bar and watches the Bills in VA Beach every Sunday. You can still spend time with your family. Your friends. You almost always make some new friends. This crap cracks me up. The beach is there allllllll year. The Bills games are 16 glorious Sundays a year. It's awesome. I can't wait to drive up tomorrow for the game Sunday. Imagine that.....I could go to the beach this weekend at my moms.....or to a Bills game. I'm heading north. I have no allegiance to the Buffalo area other than me somehow becoming a Bills fan. I now live in VA. I'm about as impartial as you can get. I have never ONCE in my life thought about going to Jacksonville for any reason........ever. If it wasn't for the Jags, I wouldn't even know much about Jax, if at all really. Now Buffalo, with Niagara Falls lurking around the corner, and Canada right there.....and most of all, a city that cares about it's team....I'd take it anyday of the week. Like you I ahve lived in many different places and have been fortunate enough to see a bit of the world. In my early 20's I could not wait to get out of upstate NY. Now I am of the belief that it may not be such a bad palce to return to. Don't get me wrong, Buffalo is not a world class city but I can travel. Don't get me wrong, Buffalo is not a world class city but I can travel. Buffalo has real character. It has real culture, even if much of it isn't "high culture".
