being on the team "these are not the cuts you are looking for". cutting stupar and cope not fair unless they both really sucked at special teams.

So Turk gets teh Turk for a lousy preseason and Stupar gets cut in favor of both Dereks because....he leads nfl in preseason? From ESPN

The Bills waived tight end Jonathan Stupar despite a great statistical preseason. He led the NFL with 19 receptions for 184 yards and a touchdown. The Bills opted to keep Derek Schouman and Derek Fine along with fourth-round draft pick Shawn Nelson.

Preseason must mean nothing- Kelsay and Schobel looked awful but yet they are still here- Bryan and Stupar looked good but are cut. I use to watch preseason to get a feel for the young talent but why bother, the coaches must evaluate on a whole different criteria.

Exactly...passing catches when he did helps, but doesnt say a whole lot about his all around game. Nelson and Fine were never going anywhere, that was a given. He was only trying to beat out Schouman. They must see more upside in Schouman than Stupar from what they have seen in the film room and off season. Lets be honest here, Stupar played a lot of minutes in the preseason and was up against a lot players no longer in the NFL...

Just speculating...

Maybe Schouman and Fine are better blockers and the team is expecting Nelson to be the main pass catching TE. So they didn't think they'd need Stupar's receiving skills and if he wasn't a better blocker than the other two, he had to be the odd man out.

While Maybin and Ellis both look very promising, Mayb is a rookie and Ellis is still unproven. If you cut Denny and Kelsey to keep Cope, then the team has another position where they are expecting young guys to come through without a plan B. I'm sure they hope the young guys come on and steal the starting spots, but they at least know they will get solid play from the vets (not stellar, but solid) so they won't be up a creek if the young guys don't come through early in the season.

You mean the same solid play that had most fans hoping the Bills would pick up 3 or 4 D-linemen in the draft.

Mace and Bryon DOMINATED a Lions' First String O-Line. Kelsay and Denney (and SchoBUST, as well) have yet to show ANY REASON why they still earn a !@#$ing DOLLAR in this league.

And Stupar gets the axe for Derek Fine and a 4th Rounder??????

How many more ways can this coaching staff insult the players, fans, and the sport of football, before we realize this is all some group nightmare we're all having?

Schobel is somehow living on his 1 good season 3 years ago and Kelsay, well I couldn't tell you about him. Maybe he and Jauron are gay for eachother or something. Who knows, either way these two botards have no business being on this team.

All of us sideline coaches have such a small view into the day to day performance we are kidding ourselves when we criticize a lot of these moves. If Stupar, Bryan, and Bowen or anyone else who is cut are so gifted they will be picked up by another team. I did not see that happen did anyone else? Teams scout the waiver wire closely. If they are good developmental candidates the Bills and other teams will place them on PS and they will get time to prove they belong.

You obviously don't understand football in Buffalo. Both Dereks are fine young men that we chose and have to justify. They also have faster times in the 40. (so Trent needs that deep threat in the middle for those 7 yd passes.)

production does not matter, they practise well. :worthy::unsure:
