By trading Peters, Edwards is being forced to checkdown more often. He does not have time to go through his normal progressions, read one: receiver wide open 10, 11 yards down field or on to read two: five yards downfield to tight end, read three: two yard checkdown to back, read three: whoops! Sacked.

This guy has no pocket presence, a popgun arm, cannot anticipate where a receiver will be and only throws downfield if a receiver has no one near him. If I was an opposing defensive coordinator, not only would I keep 8 in the box, I might go 9. All a corner has to be is within 5 yards of a receiver and Edwards will checkdown. What a shame the career of JPL was ruined to ride the coat tails of Edwards, at least JPL could toss one 50 yards downfield between sacks.

Absolutely! Bills fans and many forum members were so ridiculously split on this issue that facts did not matter. If Jason Peters continues on to play at a high level and still make the probowl in the NFC some people that shouted really loud are going to look really stupid.

Then they can start all of the excuses of how could they have known that he was really that good? He showed nothing to prove he deserved a raise. Then followed by, "even though he made the probowl I still thought he played like crap in 2008" and didn't deserve a pay raise when he was promoted to LT thread.

It's early. But the line looks about as bad as the supposed "know nothing" experts say on TV. On top of that Edwards looks really really bad. But hey, preseason doesn't count. Nothing is more meaningless right? ZERO tds in 4 game appearances by the starting offense.

Peters is a very talented player no doubt. He also is/was essentially a malcontent at least with the Bills. The Bills took a chance on him and signed him as an undrafted free agent. He developed well and became a dominant player. Then he became a distraction due to his contract of which the Bills had already redone once before. He held out last training camp and Langston Walker moved over to LT. The Bills thought Walker could play LT. Peters held out all training camp and reported in time to play the regular season. Despite making the Pro Bowl for the second time, most Bills fans realized that Peters did not have a good year. So the Bills trade Peters for draft picks and they think Walker can play LT. Walker played RT fairly decent last year and should remain at RT. The Bills have become so inept that they can't even evaluate the current roster talent let alone college talent. Ridding themselves of Peters was the right move but they should have drafted a LT in this years draft. That is where they screwed up along with keeping Dick Jauron.

Everyone still happy we traded away our ProBowl LT so we could completely retool the O-line????

Depends on your perspective - it was a great trade for the Bills; if you're an Eagles fan, you're team got screwed.

But why don't you ask them?

Losman could toss the ball pass ten yards!

I think it is a fair point that trading Peters and releasing Dockery has had a very negative short term impact on the o-line. Wood seems like a player, but why does everyone expect the o-line to gel this season? That would assume that the front office acquired the right players to improve the o-line and the coaches have the ability to get two rookies and two holdovers (Walker and Butler) ready to play at a high level at new positions. Unfortunately, I have no confidence in the front office or the coaches that this will happen.

Where they screwed up was hiring Greg Williams. Things have gone down hill ever since. Little Bum is still taking teams to the playoffs.

ugh have you been reading the reports coming out of philly the last month regarding peters.

some of the adjectives used to describe his play, fat, lazy, out of shape ,does not care now that he got his money, maybe buffalo knew something we didnt, plays like he does not care.

to put it mildly they are not very happy with their new 10 million dollar man. the guy is a mercenary piece of sh-- with no loyalty to his team or team mates only to the almighty dollar.

he has given up 3 or 4 sacks, constantly jumping off sides cant remember the snap count and is not catching on to the offense at all.

the guy with the franchise licence plate has a problem and its his head is to big for his helmet!

What would your key to winning be? Is going into the season with an o-line with 5 new players/postiions high on the list?.

By not keeping him, it has set of a chain of events that will take 2-3 seasons to recover from.

thats total BS. you could not be more incorrect 2 or 3 years to replace a tackle. they wanted to change their interior linemen it had nothing to do with peters.

secondly guards start and do well as rookies every year, you my man dont have a clue.

like the other guy said yesterday had nothing to do with our LT or Line!

The Bills searched for a quality LT for years after Will Wolford. Fina was okay at times, and so was Jennings, but Peters was the first real talent at that position in more than ten years. It is really hard to find a quality LT, and they do make a big difference on offense.
