What, were they giving tomatoes out in lieu of trophies or ribbons? :worthy:

This is perhaps the most incongruous thread title I have ever seen.

It was a swim meet... :( Tomatos have a very high water contant. Some varities of tomatos have 95% more water contant than a watermelon (according to WikiAnswers)...

As JIA said lettuce and bacon should be a part of that recipe.

I like to put tomato slices inside a grilled cheese sandwich. (before grilling)

I like creamy cucumber salad, you can do the same adding with tomatos:

Ingredients:

1 large cucumber, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch slices

1 large tomato, chopped

1 small red onion, thinly sliced

1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

Leaf lettuce, optional

Directions:

In a bowl, combine cucumber, tomato and onion. In another bowl, combine the sour cream, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper; mix well. Pour over vegetables and toss to coat. Refrigerate until serving. Serve over lettuce if desired. Yield: 6 servings.

How about an old fashioned tomato salad

cut up tomatoes into a bowl

add some onion

basil

salt/pepper to taste

oil

some vinegar (balsamic if you have it)

mash it up a bit to get the juices

refridgerate for an hour or so

eat with big hunks of fresh

DiCamillos or Portage Bakery Italian bread

Ingredients:

16 oz Elbow Macaroni

1/4 Stick of butter

3-4 Eggs

1 giant box of swim meet tomatoes

Cooking Instructions:

Boil Elbow Macaroni until soft. Drain as needed. Place Noodles in frying pan with 1/4 stick of butter and cook on low until half/most noodles get a crispy brown outside. Stir throughout cooking time so as not to have the noodles stick to frying pan. Next add the 3-4 eggs and stir so as to scramble them along with the noodles. Dice tomatoes and put into dish. When they are thouroughly scrambled and the noodles nice and crisp it's chow time

Serving Suggestions:

You can add some garlic salt or pickle juice for extra flavor upon finishing cooking.
