keepthefaith Posted February 13, 2009 Share Posted February 13, 2009 I'd rather count on you being clueless. replace 25%of our roster LOL thats ridiculous seeing that we already have one of the youngest teams in the league. we need a quality center and our o/line will be dominant. then we add a receiving TE and a pass rushing OLB and stay healthy and it playoffs here we come. if you knew anything you would also understand that when schobel went down so did our pass rush but your probably one of those guys that think schobel stinks judging by your ridiculous comments. injuries again robbed us of a great season hopefully this year we wont get decimated by injuries like we did the last 2 years. guys like you crack me up its like you never watched a football game in your life . by the way our young TE's look very good to me espicially Fine. we obviously will make it a priority to get a stretch the field TE to compliment our young TE's. in reality we need a center,TE and a pass rushing OLB. i would like to address center (brown or birk) and one of the other positions in free agency then add depth and fill out our third need in the draft which ever way it plays out. you can understand that what we do in free agency will impact who we draft and the bills do have a plan and your incorrect disrespectful statement about our front office inexperience is a freaking joke. modrak has over 30 years of personnel expirance and has been a very successful GM. so i guess in response to you post i would say dont quit your day job. Well, the only argument against turning over 25% of the roster is if you think 75% of the roster are "keepers". You could easily shed more than a dozen players from this team. I look forward to betting some serious coin on the over of Bills' wins, which apparently will be set at .5 judging by some here. I hope it's doom and gloom but at times they look like the keystone cops over the last 10 years. It's hard to be upbeat with all of the front office spnning. Our schedule is very difficult and we have some major holes on both sides of the line. I don't think our defense could pressure a high school QB, much less an NFL one. Our O-line, while doing a decent job of defending our QB's, did nothing for Marshawn / Freddie. Fowler needs walking papers and I would lose one other player on the O-line just to make another change. I watched our new 6'9" WR run and he is Frankenstein, Royal is absolutely useless with stone hands and I could safely say that every other TE we have needs to be axed. Looking at the big picture, we have to replace about 1/4 of our current players to get to .500. When you add in the upcoming schedule and our front office's limited experience, you have a formula to draft 8th or better in the 2010 draft. Plan on the Bills picking 3rd. As opposed to scared I would say doesn't trust his teammates on the field. Inexperienced and injury prone, well only 2 seasons in the NFL and got injured both years, so yeah. You could easily shed more than a dozen players from this team. again this is a young team. could we cut 12 players possibly but highly unlikely. i think the guys we lose will be the restricted free agents and free agents on the team who we dont want. there may be a couple of other cuts but IMO thats it. like i said we are basically 3 players and an injury free season away from being a very good young team. again my biggest hope is center because if we get a great one it will change our whole offense in terms of production.IMO brown or birk will be a bill in the first 24 hours of free agency. then watch how much improved our line and running game will be.our guard play has been severely compromised because of the lack of a competent center. in our division if your o/line is not stout up the middle you are in serious trouble and we have not been stout up the middle since fowler was signed. put birk or brown between butler and dockery and watch how much better our guards will look. they have been taking an undeserving beating by the fans and media over the last few years for their play. well its not their play but the play of the centers we have which have been killing this o/line. when your guards have to constantly help out your center every down you are in trouble and that has been the case with our team for 3 years.. What little playing time he got, he spent picking himself up off the grass as he routinely got his butt handed to him. If Ellis has anything to offer he surely didn't show it. He seemed pretty darned weak and no where near fast enough to be a speed rusher. If Ellis turns out, great, but no one should be holding their breath for this guy. But after last season's 2-8 finish, can a handful of UFA's and rookies make that big a difference? Before someone mentions Atlanta or Miami (and I've done it several times) let's remember who is still coaching and running this team. The only saving grace might be Modrak, but I suspect he won't have big control over pro personnel where UFA is run. It's nice to talk about the draft, but it'll be the free agents who probably dictate where this team goes. There are weaknesses at DE, SLB, C, and TE and I don't expect all of those positions to be solidified in FA. Everyone knows what we have in DJ. IMO, this team needs to stop getting the benefit of the doubt and start proving they are serious about winning. They put one foot in the hole when DJ was inexplicably retained. Rookies, for the most part, don't make an impact at the DE spot in the first year. Mario Williams for instance had only 47 tackles and 4.5 sacks his first year, all the while looking almost lost out there against NFL OT's, and he is an absolute freak of nature athletically. He had 14 sacks his second season and 12 this year. He improved. Ellis is no Mario Williams, don't think I'm trying to say that, but he was effective in college using quickness coming off of the edge. I live in VA and get spoonfed alot of Tech games so I watched him play a decent amount. The knock on him was his strength and durability. This year he was weak and got hurt. What do you say?
