ever heard of this guy named MIKE WILLIAMS???

well in case you dont ill refresh your memory,.

bills took him with the 3rd overall selection about 5 years back. he was a bust and we got rid of him before last season. ooh and on top of that he went to the University Of Texas.

everything must be bigger in texas being that dockery is 345 and williams was 368!

The only thing big in texas are ego's ! I'm sure there are a few nice people in Texas but most of the native's have an over inflated opinion of their state and themselves.

Can anyone here that watches the Skins on regular basis give us a detailed analysis of Dockery? I don't know too much about him other than he is very large. How is he pass blocking vs. run blocking? Does he take plays off? Injury concern? Can he play both guard positions? etc. Thanks a bunch!

The Redskins really want to resign this guy. The DC-area press has been saying this all week.

Any new news? It's after the 4pm supposed media presentation...

Saw that the NFL Network is reporting that the Bills and Dockery were CLOSE to signing. Now, maybe they are getting their information second-hand from the likes of Chris Brown. However, if this is true, then maybe the PC is on hold until after the deal is done. Anyone know if the PC has even started yet?

I am very excited at the possibility of upgrading guard, which I think is our most important position to upgrade from last year's team (followed by DT which we upgrade with McCargo, and not counting the holes left by London and Nate). I think this guy could be a great fit if Steinbach and Dielman cost too much. Clearly is better than Mike Gandy, and having a plus guard to go with Peters really makes the left side strong. I'm still looking for the guy who keeps Preston on the bench, because I think Duke performed worse than Gandy last season (although is younger and less experienced, so has more room for improvement).

I have the NFL Network on in the background as I work and surf and I don't think they have mentioned it at all. Sirius radio did but I don't think NFL Network did.

Why isn't WAS trying to keep him? I can understand if it's a money thing, an intractable personality clash, or if they have a phenom in the wings, - but canning a 61-game starter seems odd...who tosses effective guards into the ditch?

from what I understood they were trying to keep him and pushed hard for him. However they weren't willing to pay what he wanted and wouldn't have been able to retain him and go hard after fletcher due to their limited cap space

I have a conspiracy theory. Fletcher is likely dining with Gibbs, Greggo and Snyder tonight, keeping their attention on him while Dockery is licking blue cheese off his fingers with Marv and Dick. Snyder is letting Dockery go because he needs the cap space to sign Fletcher. So as soon as Dockery signs, Marv calls London, who then finishes his steak and abrubtly heads for the door and back to Buffalo.

IDK much about him either, but here's what the "experts" have to say about him...

Derrick Dockery | OG Complete player profile

Insider Analysis

Grade 65

Expert's Take Dockery has developed into a consistent starter who has not missed a start since the third game of his rookie season. He brings a terrific combination of power and athleticism for his bulk to the position. Standing a massive 6-foot-6 and 345 pounds, Dockery is a good knee-bender who gets his pad level down to add leverage to his sheer power, which makes him an excellent drive blocker in the run game. Still somewhat professionally immature, Dockery will show signs of fatigue, playing too high and getting over-extended and not sliding his feet in pass protection, especially when facing athletic, speed pass rushers. Dockery has the size, feet and wingspan to move outside, but only to right tackle or on the front side of the quarterback, as he doesn't match up well versus the elite pass rush defensive ends or linebackers coming off the back side edge. Dockery has gained tremendous experience and is best served staying inside at guard in a zone offensive system that would allow him to stay on track and roll opponents out of the way while limiting his pulling to the occasional trap play. Dockery is a monster at the point of attack, but the more out in space he gets, the less effective he is. He struggles at times getting to the second level or blocking on the perimeter. Dockery continues to develop and with continued work on his technique and footwork. Improved consistency will find him as a rising star at the left guard.

OK, seriously, this is all I need.

I say please Marv, and get Double D signed NOW.
