53 man roster w/ 8-man PS.

Recommended Posts

Here's my prediction:

ROSTER:

K: Lindell

P: Moorman

LS: Dorenbos

QB (3): Losman, Holcomb, Matthews

RB (3): McGahee, Williams, Gates

FB (2): Shelton, Burns

WR (6): Moulds, Evans, Parrish, Reed, Aiken, Smith

TE (3): Campbell, Euhus, Neufeld

T (4): Williams, Gandy, Peters, McFarland

G (3): Villarial, Anderson, Tucker

C (2): Teague, Preston

DE (4): Schobel, Kelsay, Denney, Ritzmann

DT (5): Adams, Edwards, Anderson, Sape, Bannan

OLB (4): Spikes, Posey, Stamer, Crowell

MLB (2): Fletcher, Haggan

CB (5): Clements, McGee, Thomas, Greer, King

SS (2): Milloy, Wire

FS (2): Vincent, Baker

PRACTICE SQUAD:

QB Woodbury, FB Goldsberry, WR Wilson, TE Trafford, G Geisinger, DE Gause, MLB Ezekiel, FS Leonhard

INJURED RESERVE:

WR Vann, G Smith, G Sobieski, LB Brantley

PUP:

TE Everett

I don't think players on the PUP list count as roster spots before their 3 week mid-season activation. But if they do, then I'd cut Shane Matthews to open up a spot for Everett.

The only real "controversies" in my final roster/PS breakdown are probably:

1. Cutting ReShard Lee

2. Keeping Wire

3. Cutting Haddad

4. Keeping Reed

So here's my official reply on these:

1. One great return on special teams against backups doesn't justify an otherwise lousy preseason.

2. Ward and Leger just got cut, and Leonhard is too small to play SS in Gray's D.

3-4. I have an extensive post history on this (keyword search: Reed, Haddad). I will miss Haddad's cool mustache, though.

That's a good list, IMO. The only thing I disagree with is I think that Haddad makes it, and (either Reed, Aiken or Smith go) and that we only keep five WR. If that is the case, then Leonard or Gause gets to stick. We may also keep ten OL and then only four DTs. Sape may not make it. Also, I don't think Woodbury is eligible for the PS but I am not positive about that, and that the PUP list is weeks 6-9. At that point, it is likely that Neufeld gets cut and not Matthews.

I agree with Kelly the Dog - Haddad makes it.

Wow, our practice squad could beat the Browns!

I'm not joking.

If I don't mention the position then I agree.

RBs: McGahee, Williams, Gates, Lee

FB: Shelton

WRs: Moulds, Evans, Parrish, Reed, Wilson, Haddad

DT: Adams, Edwards, Anderson, Sape

SS: Milloy, Leohard

Practice Squad:

QB To Be Signed Later (Woodbury's been in the NFL too many years to qualify)

FB Goldsberry,

TE Cieslak (more upside then Trafford who I think also used up his elgibility)

OG Geisinger

OT To Be Signed Later

DE Gause,

MLB Ezekiel

DB Therrian Fontenot or To Be Singed Later.

Reponses to your comments:

1. While I agree with your statement, Lee did average better than 20 yards a kickoff laster year with Dallas which shows he can be counted on a RS and allow McGee to concentrate of CB.

2. He might stick around but he gets beat up on this baord for a reason.

3. Haddad sticks around until Parrish returns then he gets cut.

4. Leohard will be counted on to primary return punts and cover kicks where size doesn't matter.

I tend to agree on keeping the 4 RBs. I think a TE can fill in at FB if needed. Or Gates or Lee could do some FB work.

I agree Fast Freddie is gone, replaced by Haddad.

Leonhard at SS? Maybe. I'll take Leonhard, the little guy with instincts and guts over the karate kid.

I wish we could keep Woodbury, but PS elig is surely gone.

DB to be "singed" later... Nice Freudian slit, oops, I mean slip!

Looks solid. I think the only suprise that wasn't mentioned was Brad Cieslak. I have a feeling he is going to make the team with all of the injuries at tight end.

I think Goldsberry beats out Burns as the #2 FB spot, simply for special teams' sake.

I think Haddad makes the roster over Reed.

I agree with everything else, but I wish they'd keep Woodbury over Matthews. But I am sure that won't happen.

Oh, and Neufeld is the odd man out when Everett returns.

Aaaaagh! There is NO WAY McGee is replaced as our kickoff returner!!!!

This is the greatest "it ain't broken so don't fix it" situation of all time on the Bills. Using your logic, why has clements continued to be our punt returner?

Answer - he's been great.

Thus, Terrence is the main KO returner for the Bills in 2005. Bank on it.

The way Jerry Gray has been raving about the young cornerbacks, I think Kevin Thomas is in trouble. A lot of guys that we have pegged for the practice squad will probably get picked up by other teams. Especially a team like the Packers who have seen these guys play a few times and who have no depth.

The only changes I'd make:

Cut:

Matthews----only needed for tutoring Losman, and Holcomb can do that.

Sape---------he's never going to see the field.

Wire----------seen enough of him and his mistakes. I like him, but he makes too many mistakes.

Add:

Woodbury-----Mularkey has been waiting for a slash player like him.

Leonard-------this is the kind of guy that makes plays and we would regret cutting him because he'd probably go somewhere like NE. A Belichek kind of player.

Gause--------I'd like to see him make the squad. He's just as good or better than Ritzmann.

Now that's what I'd like to see, but I'd bet we are going to add another CB since Clements is a free agent next year and it may be the hardest position on a team to fill.
