Rivers had a weird season 5 years ago with the Colts.

Won a lot of games BUT boy was he slow in the pocket and his arm strength was really weakening.

This ought to be interesting.

Agreed but I do love how he plays the game. He’s a kid at heart. Hope he wills the colts to the playoffs over the Texans or Jags

This caught my attention yesterday because there have been players like TO, for example, who stayed in great shape and expressed interest in returning to the NFL, yet no team took them up on the offer.

I can’t imagine what it must feel like to take a hit in an NFL game after being away from the field for so long.

This Rivers business is bonkers, gents!

Setting aside all of the off field issues with Deshaun Watson, after not having played a game for 2 years, he looked completely out of place on an NFL field.

It’s truly unbelievable to think Rivers at age 44 not having played a game in 5 years is going to play again. Rivers arm strength was looking significantly deteriorated 5 years ago when he was 39. It’s hard to imagine what this could look like.

I think folks are misunderestimating the number of 34 year old grandparents out there.

100% lol

I did a lot of digging and as I said I'm thread the only grandfather in NFL history I could ever find was Brett favre

I think he  retired the next year

It is really freaking hard to be a grandpa in a profession like the NFL where it's all young men

He will do a great job at handing off and some quick dump offs.  I don't think Rivers will be very effective if he has to chuck it down the field.  I'm not seeing another Flacco here.    I can't imagine why they would go with the 44 year old grandpa who hasn't played in years, over calling up Brett Rypien from the practice squad.

Yeah, that's the weird thing. Good defense and a good run game and even Brett Rypien - who is a pretty bad backup after all - might steal you a couple wins.

Having said that: it gives me a reason to watch the Colts. The older I get, the more I appreciate stories like this.
