How many are here?

 

Football wise my first memories were the Super Bowl years.

 

It feels like an in between generation.  Can still appreciate the advice of elders in my family but have some of the younger generations skepticism about things.  I feel old often these days but I’m not.

Biggest difference between me and my 80’s born Bills fan kids, all boys, is all the awesome Bills attire and stuff that they got to grow up with.

 

We had basically zilch growing up in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.

Yes I was also born in the 80s and we are pretty close in age from talks we've had in the past. My earliest memories are also the Bills Super Bowl runs. The 80s and 90s are my wheelhouse but I also have an appreciation for stuff that happened in the 60s and 70s. The world is a much different place than it was back then and I really miss it

NewsFlash:  Millennials are old.  MidLife old.  2 generations are already younger than them and a 3rd is soon.  Millennials are now grandparents...

You miss it because it was new.  Things were perceived to be going slower.

 

There's a reason why perception of time speeds up when people get older.  Reason why it's slow when people are young.  When you're younger you are building new memories.

78 which is close enough.  My first Bills/Football memories were Superbowl XX, Some 86-87 Bills, then started to more vividly comprehend from 88-on.

 

 

I agree it is an in between generation and pretty unique.  I have seen some corny things about it on social media and stuff but it is true.  I had a black and white TV, VCR, Saturday Morning cartoons on network tv, and Atari, but was raised with computers early/young enough where I/we are technically savvy and can adapt.

You now, you're right about the Sabres stuff. The buzz out of the gate in '70 was wild, but making the playoffs in '72, and with Rock Star "Schoeny", it was like Bufalo's version of the Beatles landing in JFK. It exploded here with Sabre merchandise.

70's & 80's... People in general had more disposable income to blow on sports merch... When it, team consumerism, really took off.

 

With Boomers... When it took flight... Silent Generation, like my parents, had to be convinced that they wouldn't be caught dead wearing team apparel.  Slap on that SabreJak dad!  "Over my dead body!" He got with program in later years, but severely tempered. LoL...
