Sorry Mods... I meant this for OTW... NOT sure if I can move it...

First off, they’re denying me my 1st Amendment right. Second of all, nothing shows class more than having the F-bomb emblazoned on a shirt or hat for all to witness.

I THINK... They want to go beyond the simple crass-wear... Like no shorts & pajamas now.

Anyway... They cram you in like it's the middle passage. "Greyhound in the Sky"... That's what buses were for in old days, what planes are today... Filthy too, but they want you to wear your best.  Just fly me on a drone in an hermetically sealed tube an be done with it! 😆  Golden Age...

To follow with another missing(crass?) point, that attire is all some fit into comfortably, particularly in crammed seating. I knew that feeling 60lbs. ago. It won’t fly with many.

Yeah... And train travel has been wiped off the geography of N.America... Practically wiped off.

Going west this past month... Had open seat between wife & myself.  Coming back full, crammed like sardines...

They want respect, at least give a seat the form factor of a car ride, can't?  Bring back trains or other communal travel.  Roads aren't cutting it either.

Anyway,  it's all about the social hierarchy.  Bus travel in the air.  Just deal with the hoi polloi, unwashed masses, can't convert them.

Everybody wants dirt cheap plane tickets. Well, those come with a price. The price is the cattle car experience.

Yeah... But it's ridiculous to think you're gonna dress up for the cattle car experience.  Who's gonna wreck their good clothes on a filthy plane?

Understandable... But offer a few ancillary modes of transportation.

Trained around Italy last month. Quick, cheap, comfortable, clean and conveniences. A bit of an eye opener. But that Italy is so small comparatively, it be impossible to have that kind of efficiency and cost here.

Of course it can... We did have it here at one time... Even inter-urban rail service was ripped up.

Were there reasons you chose not to rent a vehicle?

I’m not that brave. That, and it’s just easier, cheaper and quicker going by train and bus around Italy. We went from Venice to Florence to Rome and Naples on bullet trains. Our trip to Siena was by bus out of Florence, a little over an hour away. We hired a service out of Naples to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast, took 1 1/2 hrs. and it wasn’t expensive either. They got it down pretty good getting people around, but again it has much to do with the size of Italy.

Getting from point A to point B is one thing, and parking is something else again. There are good reasons you see so many bicycles and scooters around Europe. It’s also related to the lower obesity levels you see there, I think. Walking and bike riding are much more common forms of transportation than in the states, where we consider it an rare exercise event. They call it “getting where I need to go.”

I was very impressed by how fast, clean, and easy it was to get around Italy by train. In fact, I’d like to go do it again!

To be fair, most people don’t even have “good” clothes anymore. I’m not even sure how to define dress clothes anymore. Most business environments

are casual these days, especially for the millennial generation and younger. I do understand there is a next level of trashy also, but you can’t change the airport without changing society as a whole in that case. Everyone has a credit card, therefore the ability to travel.
