They would all be tolerable (Cook is a HR) if this team’s 2022-2024 drafts weren’t so awful.

The 2025 class still TBD.

What all-pro or just pro bowlers have we drafted since 2018 outside of Josh?

How many have the legit SB contenders drafted?

Thats the measuring stick.

Not comparing us to every team - comparing us to the SB caliber Teams with SB rosters.

That McD wouldn’t even call ours when he was asked.

Groot has been great, Bedford appears to be rounding back into form, and Hoecht/Boba were as advertised prior to injuries.

Defense is getting the job done with a M.A.S.H. unit out there, it seems absurd to be so critical of them when they've put out a league-average performance in each of our losses despite multiple offensive turnovers.

Rousseau is a complimentary DE, being paid as an A.

He would be best served in the rotating DE’s role that Autry and Barnett play for DeMeco Ryans i.e. playing early runnings downs then bring in the absolute game wreckers in Anderson and Hunter.

Sure, he has had some nice tipped Int‘s and plays, but he has not once had a game that’s he’s completely taken over.

A huge problem is the Bills do not have anyone on the defensive side of the ball the opposing offenses have to game plan for.

Yes?  He's an adequate pass-rusher and is fantastic at everything else.  The elite pash rushers get paid double what he makes.

Oh boy. He’s not paid like an adequate pass rusher my friend. And that is the problem.

He’s paid to be the guy. Nick Bonitto doesn’t make that much more and regularly shows up, same with Karlaftis.

Those guys who are paid double produce in excess of double the plays imo.

For the record, I’m a Groot supporter but his play is like you said… adequate.

Adequate isn’t what you need if you has aspirations of a Super Bowl.

I feel like for some of these guys, (shakir and groot in particular) they could do better in a different system than what we ask them do now (blaming coaching here for not living up to contract, though they are not terribly off)

Cook was good.

The rest are trash. Bernard due to being an undersized lb was supposed to have speed, yet now he looks to be running like he is stuck in mud, leaving him to guess and when he is wrong it hurts.

Benford, I dont know what happened (His head had a long time to clear up from the end of last season), but he is not even remotely the same player as he was last year

I don't know if I'd call him "great" this year.

But PFF would.........he is their 9th rated DE/edge in the NFL this season.

There are still so many people on TSW who are utterly clueless about football.

Benford, on the other hand,  has been shite.  The light is out in his eyes.  He looks like he is just trying to survive the headache.   That play where Bishop had to shoe-string tackle Collins last night.......2024 Benford helps tackle that guy.   He doesn't want it and when he has to make a tackle he gets up looking like he's just seen a ghost.  Scairt.

He did not look like that to start the season.

I think he beat the dogsnot out of himself so badly over the first few weeks in an effort to show leadership in the DB room that it's wrecked his game.

Shakir is fine at that contract. Benford earned his money even if he’s having a rough year. Paying Rousseau was a mistake and paying Bernard was a big mistake.

Benford played excellent when healthy the past couple seasons.   But that double concussion situation should have ended any extension talk.   He literally has not defended a single pass all season.  He's been the worst of any of them by A LOT.

if we are judging with a constant standard, benford was a worse signing than groot.  he's hurt more, a rookie (max) and a second year guy (bishop) have had more big plays than he has, and most importantly he's being paid like 65-70% of what a top guy at his position gets, while groot is getting under 50%.

now, the reality is benford has not been himself and has been hurt, if benford stays healthy it will be a decent to good signing, same w groot.  cook was a slam dunk, shakir is a good bill but i think you can get guys like him so he's not that super important to us imo, but im not the qb or coach so i could be wrong.  from a production pov shakir is worth it even w his injuries and mistakes so far.

bernard just isn't good enough imo.  he had that one year where he filled out the stat sheet after edmunds left, which made me think it was a good non signing of edmunds, but i think we signed the wrong 2 of the 3 lbs we drafted.

i love hoyt but his suspension and injuries make him zero, obiewan has been decent but the suspension hurts.  bosa has been an outstanding signing for us, even tho he's hurt now.

samuel, knox, milano, taron, palmer (i like him, but he's simply not produced), coderington, rapp, possibly ed due to injures, and before that von white, and diggs (and the safties when they got old)are the reason why we have holes in the roster.  the value we've gotten from them (in many cases zero as they left the team or were hurt) would easily be replaced with draft picks, allowing us to sign some actual studs.

That could be but he's been simply awful overall.   Like I said,  the way he is playing and Strong was trending Strong might have been playing instead by now.   He's not played like a starting NFL CB this year let alone a good one.   In some ways it was like the Tre extension because neither had a lot of room for physical decline before it was going to knock them far down the list.
