Great post and yes, whatever field you're talking about, progression is not always linear. It can happen suddenly, thus the light switch analogy. And there can be regressions mixed in as well.

It was sadly unforgettable.

I will say that every highly drafted player that isn't instantly successful gets lambasted by a large percentage of posters here.

TJ Sanders and Landon Jackson are getting roasted unfairly at this very moment.

Until this year Bishop's mentors were Rapp and Hamlin. Having Poyer and Tre White in the backfield with him has been very beneficial to Bishop.

That's a pretty huge infusion in credentials and knowledge of the system.

I didn't know if Bishop was a sure thing but I certainly wasn't writing him off either. You never know if a player can meet expectations until they consistently do.

On that deep incompletion to Worthy (which was almost DPI) it was great watching Hairston essentially toying with him... displaying for all the world to see that he's just as fast as Worthy but bigger and stronger.

Yes, but people on this board complain about everything.

Take me for instance, I complain about people complaining!

My best defense here is a standard defense and solidly true.

Every player has a weakness; keon Coleman: speed, Dalton Kincaid: mass, Josh Allen, Kryptonite, and Cole Bishop: speed.

The best coaches can hide and minimize exposure to those flaws and deficits. It finally looks like the supporting cast of Bishop is playing a role.

Remember all the angst on this board about what a bust he was?

I like how he played recently, but feel its a bit early to call him "the ultimate eraser".  We're only two months past him be put on a poster by Derrick Henry.

Have you never seen Henry stiff arm a guy before??? You know that he had put multiple all pros on their ass, right?

None of them were given the cringeworthy nickname "the ultimate eraser".  I'm old and remember when safeties were terrifying.

Yes, and I was part of it.  Don't want to jinx him, and it may be a bit early, but I would enjoy eating a health serving of crow.  Make me do it Cole!

I wonder how much having Hairston cover Worthy helped?

Having guys who succeed in doing their 1/11th around you is nothing but helpful, to say the least.

Cole ran a 4.45 and is flying over the field

I wouldn't say speed is a weakness lol he's the fastest safety we've had in McDermott's tenure
