Hmmmmm.  Seems people are forgetting that Rapp was kinda good for us last year.

The history of the NFL is littered with players who were kinda good for a season and then basically reverted to form.

Rapp has been a replacement level safety his whole career outside of last season.

They had 5 guys at the position to start the season.  Three of them got hurt.  They brought a veteran in the system back with Poyer.  What the hell do you want?  You can’t have endless guys at every position.

Not to mention that saying that having 2nd year 2nd round pick as your starter is "complete failure" on team building is just silly.

You may not like the player but it's not team building failure.

I don’t think we’re signed only so they could get them a ring

Yeah but when you try criticize everyone and everything you don't care.

It's not just that this GM drafts a ton of defensive players. The coach won't play half of them.

He won't dress our 3rd round pick.

We have injuries everywhere in the secondary and we drafted like 15 DBs this year but some never even get a chance.

It's a pattern. Every year certain rookies might as well just be cut, because they are never getting a chance.

For guys that are "one mind" this is bizarre.

Again, what are you even talking about?

Walker is a starter. Hawes plays a lot. Sanders played a lot until he was hurt. Strong played until he was hurt and if he wasn't he'd be most likely starting at this point. Same with Hairston.

Only guys they don't play are Jackson who is deep in depth chart and Hancock.

And they play rookies every year. You make no sense.

He was replacement level last year too.

"There are NOT 170 safeties in the Draft"? What kind of goal post moving is that? That's not the point.

The point is a player taken at the Bottom of the 5th Round at Pick 170 is 9.9 times out of 10 not a starting quality prospect. Let alone expected to be a Starter in their Rookie year.

This would be like complaining that Javon Solomon wasn't made ready to start last season. Or that Justin Shorter should have been expected to save us at WR the year before.

You want to complain about us not addressing Safety more than we did this season? That's f

ine. But being upset that the 170th pick in the Draft, at best our 4th Safety on the Depth Chart (possibly below that), wasn't being prepared to start from the jump is ridiculous.

It’s not goalpost moving any more than your post. You have to look at the position players play. Football isn’t like the other sports. Players play completely different positions, and they rarely change. And, a lot depends on how strong the need is by the 32 NFL teams that particular year, and by how strong the Class of rookies was at that position that particular year. So yes, while a player may have been taken 170th in the overall draft order, he may have been the third or fourth best safety in the nation that year. (I’m not saying that was the case here, but the point still applies.) I hope that clarifies my earlier post.

Perhaps my perception is incorrect.
