Update: Dorian Strong to IR

Said it all off-season, I would not have extended Greg Rousseau and Terrel Bernard. At least not until I saw how their 2025 went.

 

With Bernard, he regressed in 2024 and he's started to show a penchant for getting dinged up. So far this year, it's felt like more of the same. He makes a big play every once in a while, like the Baltimore game. But the only true consistency is that the pass game and run defense beyond the line of scrimmage is terrible.

 

With Rousseau, if he's so valuable, why have we spent every off-season saying "we need a premier Edge Rusher"? If we want one of them, we have to pay Parsons/Garrett money and that's unlikely to happen while you're paying Rosseau 20m a year on the other side.

 

I feel as though Beane follows the "Draft, Develop, Retain" mantra too much, to a detriment. We are consistently in a spot every off-season where we're begging for game changers but cannot afford to get them bc we're up against the Cap - retaining too many decent players at the cost of being able to get great players. 

 

People were advocating for going all out this off-season on additions, even if it meant we wouldn't re-sign any of them. I knew that wouldn't happen and that we needed to retain 2-3. But even I didn't think we'd sign *all 5*.

Us trading for CB is dependent on Strong’s prognosis imo. Even if Hairston comes back and looks good, that’s still only three boundary corners including Tre who looks like he’s playing safety half the time cause his cushion is so large. Dorian looked like a keeper. Huge loss imo.

Youre right. I was looking at the snap counts and he is an unquestioned starter. The fact Humphrey picked up a slight injury and Alexander is missing several games negates any chance he moves. I was simply thinking about them signing a one year deal and could move him if the season is a shambles. 
 

Im with you on Strong. I don’t think it’s as big a need once the two rookies are back from their injuries. The struggle will be making do until then.

Add in Benford. I disagreed with it because he’s never finished playoffs for us. Right now he just looks terrible

That would make sense, although I had understood from news reports that he was injured at practice.

I asked this last week and no answers...the Bills have been so vague on many of the injuries this season...I guess we will all remain in the dark

We haven’t heard anything from the team since tuesday mornings press conferences. That’s normal for the bye week, but it has left us all stewing in anger and misery while they play golf.

In terms of potential seriousness of his injury, I really didn't like that he was put on injured reserve immediately after suffering the injury at practice.  There seemed to be some rumblings from posters that his injury could be career threatening, but I hope that was uninformed speculation and I don't remember seeing anything from a reliable news source about it.

Lack of information doesn't make me feel good about it.  Buffalo's MO is to keep bad news quiet either indefinitely of until it's confirmed.  Reminds me slightly of Hyde.  Either way something weird is happening with the training staff as the injuries continue to pile up
