Just approve the enhanced ACA tax credits now.  It really doesn't seem like it's that hard.

God forbid a political party does that in this country.

Because they like to keep their jobs.

The shutdown is popular with Democrat voters.

It's short-sighted because its unpopular with everyone else, but it helps them in blue states.

Exactly.  Health care is the only major voting issue that most people give a damn about that the general population trusts Democrats more than Republicans.  The economy, immigration, and crime issues all favor Republicans.  It may be short sighted but when Republicans  took the political backlash for shutting down the government in 2013 it didn't seem to matter as they controlled the presidency/senate/house three years later.

"This probably wasn’t their intention, but in drawing so much attention to the expiring Obamacare subsidies, Democrats have shown the country what a bad deal Obamacare was to begin with. The real problem is that the Affordable Care Act was never actually affordable,” opined The Washington Post editorial board on Oct. 5."

Democrats have ushered in a full-scale disaster disrupting millions of air travelers’ lives:

TSA checkpoint wait times have ballooned past three hours at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport — with some passengers enduring up to five hours in line. At nearby William P. Hobby Airport, security wait times are routinely exceeding one hour.

Half of the nation’s busiest airports faced severe staffing shortages over the weekend, triggering a cascade of delays and cancellations that are rippling through the entire country. In fact, since the Democrat Shutdown began, four times as many staffing shortages have been reported at air traffic control facilities compared to last year.

It’s not going to get better until Democrats end their senseless shutdown.

Passengers in the New York City area are being warned of “schedule changes, gate holds, and missed connections,” while major disruptions have hammered airports

in Chicago, San Francisco,

San  Diego, LosAngeles,Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville, Austin, Cleveland, Seattle, Boston, Indianapolis, Nashville, Phoenix, Washington, D.C.,

and countless others.

Based upon the election results this week, Republicans would be wise to sweeten the deal a bit to convince 6 Dems to vote for it. It would demonstrate that they can actually govern and keep the country running.

No deal on ending shutdown

By Bill Glahn

Democrats think they are “winning” the shutdown. As long as they continue to think that, it will continue, into 2026, perhaps into 2029.

Yesterday’s offer from Senate leader John Thune (R-SD) has been rejected. From The Hill newspaper,

Deal to reopen government falters over Democrats’ distrust of Trump.

A “deal” can’t “falter” if there never was a deal. Distrust of Trump? The Hill reports,

Democratic support for a potential deal to reopen the government has crumbled because of deep mistrust among Senate Democrats over whether they can trust President Trump to act in good faith to extend health insurance subsidies or to stop firing federal workers.

Was there ever any Democratic support? They mistrust/distrust/don’t trust that Trump will meet 100 percent of their demands. Is that Trump’s “fault”?

Days ago, the current “shutdown” passed the record to become the longest ever. The now-second-longest shutdown occurred during Trump 1.0 over his request for a border wall. He never got it.

The local Minneapolis Star Tribune put out this headline,

Democrats consider prolonging the shutdown as Republicans prepare new bills without health care fix

How can Democrats “prolong” something for which they are totally without blame?  (Good question)

Democrats are the proverbial dog who chased and caught the car. They have no idea what comes next.

Schumer's Shutdown is now in its 38th day, making it the longest government shutdown in history.

And from the way Democrats are talking and behaving, they don't plan on opening the government anytime soon.

Seems like an odd thing for the party that supposedly cares so much about the little people, don't you think? But when you realize what their end goal really is, it all makes sense because the point is to make Americans suffer.

So they'll blame Trump and Republicans since they're 'in charge.' A normal person doesn't necessarily pay attention to politics and news, and Democrats know it.

Byron York exposed their entire playbook:

Our government is so dysfunctional that it can't even do the one job it's supposed to do.

Is it time to vote on term limits yet, or what?

Dem Sen. Ed Markey Helpfully Explains Why the Democrats Own the Shutdown

The government shutdown continues, and all the while many Democrats are still trying to blame Trump and the Republicans. Naturally they're getting plenty of assistance from the usual suspects in the media:

But just occasionally a Democrat will come right out and admit which party is responsible for keeping the shutdown going, and Sen. Ed Markey did that very thing yesterday. Watch:

Even Axios is reporting that the Dems are the ones keeping the shutdown going:

Politics are pure blood sport.

Ok.. so we’ve gotten the intended election night results from the shutdown that we wanted.   How about we open it back up and extend the ACA subsidies one year…

….to set to expire right before the midterms

Diabolical work
