Maybe they should throw them a bone then instead and not have to get 100% of what they want and extend the tax care credits. Maybe 98% of what they want would be okay. They don't have a supermajority here. They obviously don't have a health care alternative plan and very few voters give a crap about the rising federal debt. It should be a really simple fix. 1

The Democrats should make sure that hungry people get fed, the military gets paid, government employees get back to work, and air traffic controllers get paid. They can negotiate the ACA afterwards. It will only take six of them to do the right thing. Or they can use hunger and lack of paychecks as leverage.

Problem with that is it significantly weakens Democrats bargaining power with healthcare in the future. They've got to be a party that stands for something. It cuts both ways when using everyday people as leverage. GOP could just as easily agree to extend the ACA tax credits.

Based on the above, your position appears to be that the GOP should take action now so that Democrat bargaining power with healthcare is not significantly weakened in the future. That’s an opinion! I side with the AFGE on the matter.

I get where the AFGE is coming from but if they do pass a continuing resolution right now Americans likely will pay even higher health care premiums in the future.

No point in doing it now while the Democrats are shooting themselves in the balls.
BillsFanNC Posted Thursday at 08:25 PM Posted Thursday at 08:25 PM Im certain that the art of the deal guy will surely cave to Dems negotiating in bad faith. It will definitely work. 🤣 1

You believe that the Republicans should voluntarily hand leverage over to the Democrats?

Obama"s goal with the ACA was always to drive up health care costs to facilitate the adoption of a single payer system. Rising costs isn't a bug it's a feature. 1 2

I would rather my tax dollars and those of young people across the country not be used to subsidize health insurance for families making up to 600k annually. Just don’t approve them now.
