There are bita of this defense that I don't think you can fix by swapping out coordinators. But there are bits that I think you can. Because Babich has performed objectively and measurably worse than his predecessors in those areas and it is reasonable to lay that at his door. Babich works under mcdermott. Sean is in those meetings. Hes part of the defensive game plan that week. He rightfully is a major part of the problem here in D Simple as that 1 Quote

I don't know what you are willfully not understanding but there are certain issues on defense that you can legitmately put at the door of the overall approach and say they are in part McDermott issues - run defense, inconsistent pass rush, DBs playing deep. And there are some that have only been an issue with this coordinator - 3rd down and pre-snap. I get it, the Head Coach ultimately is accountable for on field performance. But to say "simple as that" really does over simplify something with significant nuance. 3 Quote

Statistically they’re top 5 last 4 seasons… just doesn’t feel like they can get the stops when needed. Can’t rely on playing tuas bum ass every week Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted October 1 Posted October 1 IMO, tackling at this point IS a coaching issue. I cannot accept that these guys made it through High School ball, College ball, and got drafted into the NFL without knowing how to breakdown and tackle. This is a scheme/attitude issue. I believe another big part of it is McD's notoriously soft practices. These guys dont tackle at all until the games start. Open field tackling is an art, and these guys are a bunch of preschool finger painters right now. Watch the tape of the Detroit Lions spies on Lamar. Amazing breakdown techniques and they tackled him in the open pretty much every time. Quote
Lofton80 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 One player that is an impressive tackler is the VT kid Dorian Strong. I think that is why he is being worked in. Rapp and Bernard dive at feet a lot. Dorian Williams seems to get fooled a lot. If he reads the play he can tackle, a big if. 1 Quote
ChronicAndKnuckles Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) Imagine if Josh Allen had to deal with THIS kind of coaching and roster. ( I think we really take the front office for granted sometimes.) Edited October 1 by ChronicAndKnuckles Quote
