Max Fischer Posted September 18 Posted September 18 It’s a lie to call Kirk a “free speech advocate” when the MAGA government is spending all their time shutting down free expression and insufficient mourning. You’ll ONLY find this behavior in China, Russia, and authoritarian nations. 1 1 1 2

The 1st amendment doesn't universally protect an employee's right to free speech. The National Labor Relations Act protects employers from this exact thing. People need to do a better job of reading the contracts they sign when they accept employment. This is not because of Trump, this is not authoritarian rule. This is common sense to protect employers from idiots. 1 1

We oppose cancel culture, unless it is used to cancel those we disagree with. i ***** hate you because you're a troll and generally do not respond to you. and for those that are now coming here for the first time because they think their ideas are unique and must be heard... you're not special. and you do not understand what chi, billstime, and a few others are truly about. roundy is a psuedo troll, as well but he will engage in convesation just destroy integrity. hello hypocrisy. it sucks when the pendulums swings back against you? it always swings back. and it's getting a bigger swath and it's getting bigger swings. leftists have forever been ignoring the double standard swing back and when the right does it than "republicans pounce." but now, empowered by Trump's boldness the GOP is doing the same reaction. From harry reid's nuclear threat of the high court to this "cancelling" we are seeing just how terrible the hypocrisy is... we can include other things: obama's deportations, ukraine/israel double standard, blm/riots/peaceful protests.... 1 1

At least I know better than to support an autocrat. Educate yourself or you will be Gosse stepping in no time. Is what Kimmel said stupid? No doubt. Frankly it is getting tiring turning on late night shows and hearing about politics only. I'm always up for a good political joke pointed at either side because I'd it's funny great! But it is too much. But it does not mean a govt agency should be threatining a company's license. Nexstar has billion dollar mergers in front of the fcc. They didn't pull the show till after govt threats. Brit Hume said it best. He would be a lot more comfortable with the cancelation of the show if ABC did it without govt pressure. If ABC cancled the show and trump had been quite about them and the fcc didn't issue threats I would not have a word to say about it. It would have been an obvious business decision. Trump has been crying like a baby that he is about news coverage and other content and people he does not like and disagrees with. I was never for taking away gun rights because I have my rights that are important to me (free speech) and didn't think it was right for me to have the rights I want and take away rights that others want. Now? It's all on the table. Take away free speech kiss your gun rights goodbye. And yes I know company's can fire people for what they say, that is not protected by free speech rights. That is not what happened here. Pull your head out of your ass if that's what you think happened here. 2

teef Posted September 18 Posted September 18 if i remember correctly, gina carano made the comment along the lines of being a republican was like being a jew in nazi germany, (don't quote me on that) and disney didn't like that because the rumors of being nazi sympathizers back in the day.

SCBills Posted September 18 Posted September 18 I wonder if we saw these outbursts from the left for the litany of people fired by leftist pressure over the past decade. Oh wait, they celebrated.
teef Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Just now, AlBUNDY4TDS said: So companies can fire who they want bases on their own policies? of course. my point was she wasn't fired because of her politics in general as the post made it seem like. she made a specific comment on twitter that her employers didn't like so they canned her. that's life. 1

Let’s not quote you on that and just go to what she had to say: Carano fell under heavy criticism after she posted that "Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…. even by children." The actor continued to say, "Because history is edited, most people today don't realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?" https://www.pbs.org/newshour/arts/gina-carano-fired-from-mandalorian-after-social-media-post not mentioned - republican 1
