I checked the TOS, members are not allowed to marry each other. Sorry you'll need to rescind that proposal

Odd, my wife just said the same thing.

Why should "society at large" benefit from a victim of assault's suffering?  That doesn't make any sense at all.  How many civil payouts ever have been given away by the victim or their families? It's righteous compensation. "Society at large", which includes all the jock sniffers, hero worshippers, boosters, dirty universities and look the other way college town cops, clearly deserve nothing.

The purpose of suing for money is to punish and inflict financial pain on the perp, obviously. If the victim can't take the perp's freedom, they will seek to take the second most precious thing--his livelihood.....which, if allegations are true, he was allowed to earn because he was never charged by a pliant local police force (anyone remember the James Winston "investigation" at Florida State, or the serial sexual assault of the Ohio State wrestlers?) and University.

The monetary award and the shame it piles on the perp (who would lose his status as well) is the best a victim could hope for.

well if it wasn't obvious before I am a prior victim of a sexual crimes. It's not  a lamp post. I just want to say that TRUST ME the girl in question wishes she had never  even met Mr Hairston in person. It was not a positive meeting.  DUH

she wishes it had never happened. The best she can do now is move forward in the way in which she is made most whole and healthy. For me that's the bottom line.

maybe she needs  money for trauma counseling it does cost money with copays even if you have insurance.

yes the thread is very enlightening into the human thought processes. and I do love TBD.

Speaking of insurance….Does anyone know whether Max can get (or may already have) insurance against such a claim?

It’s essentially what professional liability insurance is. With all these young athletes coming into immediate money, I do wonder if they get insurance policies against just such a claim. I can imagine there’d be all sorts of instances when it’d come into play.

Well I’ll be damned; it’s called Sexual Misconduct and Molestation Liability Insurance. Good God Almighty.

I sympathize with your situation, but none of us have any idea what the truth actually is and if her situation was like yours at all. There are plenty of scumbags out there who assault women, but there are also plenty of women out there who falsely accuse men. We may never know exactly what happened between them, if anything.

I have also seen men get falsely accused of assault. Let all the facts come out and then let us decide. If Buffalo drafted this guy with one of their 1sts that means they’ve done their homework.

That's not what I did at all. In what way did I talk smack or say females are evil?

Give the guy a chance to defend himself, that’s all I ask. A good judge will not make a judgement until he sees all of the facts. Buffalo knew about all of these accusations before we drafted him. Beane says that they feel good about him and that they would vouch for his character.

This guy is set to make millions, if you know what I mean. And I will say this, if she is lying, I hope Hairston counter sues her into oblivion..
